《Little Dark Age ◆ JeonJungkook✔》Eight - Trust, You Have to Earn

"Shh."
A hand covering your mouth pulled you out of your slumber, eyes opening wide when you panicked for a moment.
"Don't move."
Jungkook's voice. He was the one pressing you against him from behind, large hand muffling any sounds you made.
Confused and sleepy as you were, did it take you a moment to comprehend your surroundings; You were still in the cozy little house the four of you had found almost untouched at the outer circle of the city, but Yoongi and Moonbyul were no where to be seen and-
"Hnnghm-!"
"I said 'shh'!" Jungkook underlined his hushed words by pressing you tighter against him, eyes trained at the abnormally large prowler standing a few meters away, behind the kitchen counter.
It was rare to encounter prowlers like that; This one looked less like a human and more like a bear. A bear with unnaturally skinny limbs, but it definitely seemed like a good comparison. It didn't seem to having noticed either of you yet, senselessly rampaging through the kitchen.
You felt Jungkook's heart beat on your back. It was calm and even, the total opposite to your racing pulse.
How in hell could he stay so collected?
"Chickie..." He breathed into your ear, "We need to get you outta here. I can't do anything in a tight space like this or I'll hurt you."
Well, he usually didn't care about this when swinging his scythe around like a maniac right next to you, but okay.
"Yoomgi?" You asked through his hand.
He just frowned bitterly, head jerking to the opened window, "Follow me."
You were glad that you left your stuff in the car when you followed the man, sticking closely to his back as he moved entirely soundless towards the window, knees bent and shoulders pressed low in an attempt to make yourselves as small as possible.
Jungkook held his scythe hovering over the ground slightly, trying to keep the blade from catching the moonlight outside, reflection probably ending up turning the giant prowler towards him.

If you weren't so busy with trying to breathe as little as possible in order to not make any noise, you would've probably been awed by the way Jungkook managed to be so magically quiet, wile he is usually a total spaz when you're alone.
You had just managed to crawl til under the windowsill, relief swapping over you, when the bone chilling sound of a fucking vase hitting the ground echoed through the dead silent room.
Talking about Jungkook being a total spaz.
He hissed embarrassed, retreating the scythe that had knocked the vase over.
Immediately, the prowler turned around, launching forwards over the kitchen counter. Apparently he was not only abnormal in build but also speed.
You felt the hilt of the other's scythe hitting you in the stomach, pushing you away against the window, frantic expression on your companion's face when he just managed to bring the metal rod between him and the monster, both hands holding the weapon horizontally as he wrestled with the prowler.
"Go!" He shouted, black fluid of the creature splattering over his face as he kicked after it, "Or I won't be able to do anything!"
Your eyes widened when you remembered his words from earlier and you quickly scrambled out of the window, tumbling onto the grass outside while the monster behind you gurgled and hissed grossly.
You heard more porcelain crash, wood breaking while you sprinted towards the car, heart beat thundering in your ears.
You were still disoriented when you slid inside the passenger seat all stumbly, head spinning due to lack of oxygen.
"See." You flinched violently, turning around to see Yoongi sprawled out lazily in the back seat, "Told ya' they'd make it."
You blinked puzzled, head slowly turning towards the driver's seat. Moonbyul was sitting in there with crossed arms, deep frown on her face while she stared at the street outside.
"Wait what-" You began hollowly, "I thought you- I thought the prowler-"

"What?" Yoongi grinned, "You thought the gross bastard got us? C'mon."
You stared at him blankly, "Why- Why were you gone and Jungkook is still in there?"
Yoongi shrugged, "Cuz he wanted to? I don't know."
I know why, you thought, averting your eyes back onto the house where you knew Jungkook would be coming out of soon, because he didn't want to leave me behind.
Turns out you'd been right- Jungkook quickly walked out of the house, straight back and tense shoulders telling you that he was not happy.
"Wait what does he have there-" Byul gaped, too late when Jungkook yanked the back door open, just to drop a whole Prowler head into Yoongi's lap.
"THE FUCK-"
"Here," He snarled, banging the door close again, "Since you didn't get to see him alive."
Byul clambered hectically to the back seat when she realized that Jungkook would probably cut her head off as well if he saw her sitting in his seat.
Your companion almost broke the door when he shut it with way too much force, rough motions bringing the engine to life.
No one dared say anything for a while, not even Yoongi, who was clearly uncomfortable with the black liquid all over his lap, Jungkook's mere aura enough to make you freeze in your spot.
"We're a group." Jungkook cut the silence after sometime, "We don't leave others behind to safe our own asses."
Moonbyul made a disagreeing sound, but didn't voice her complaints.
"And you-" You flinched when you saw Jungkook's attention on you, "Chickie, for fuck's sake, be more careful. Jus' because we got two new nuisances doesn't mean you can let y'self go easy."
You nodded, swallowing hard.
You'd never seen Jungkook mad. It was scary. It was like ice cut through your soul every time you caught his gaze.
He wasn't like your goofy, idiot Jungkook at all. Even worse than yesterday.
It was almost pitch black outside, brittle buildings at the sides of the street gradually thinning out as you got closer to the exit of the city. The silence around was unsettling for someone who grew up with the busy noises of Seoul's daily life always in the back of their ear.
"Stop!" You mused at some point, calmly, used to being the one reading the street signs for Jungkook. He held, as you said, waiting in front of the sign you'd referred to, that was barely visible in the darkness.
"Chibi?" He looked at you expectantly.
"Bridge under construction. Let's take a detour." You answered shortly, squirming around in search for the map.
"Here." Moonbyul handed you the map. You switched on the reading lights, concentrating for a moment.
"Wait-" Yoongi spoke up, "Didn't he see the sign? Jungkook, didn't you see it?"
"I did." He answered flatly.
"Then why did you- why did she have to read it?" Yoongi looked between the two of you, "Y/N?"
You stayed silent, still real pissed at Yoongi's willingness to give up your life that easily, opting to stare at the map instead.
"Can he not read? Oh my god, are you for real? Why is that dude driving our car-"
"Because I said so." You interrupted him finally, drawing three surprised pairs of eyes on you, "Now shut up, I'm trynna concentrate."
He did. He sat back without a word, stunned, staying silent even when you found an alternative route and Jungkook picked up the road again.
Though you tried not to show it, you were kind of shocked about yourself.
"Was about time, Chickie." Jungkook mumbled almost inaudibly, small but satisfied grin playing around his lips.

Maybe it would have been a good idea not to wish for a harem? Completed

They got their wishes. Sort of... Things get complicated. Very complicated. They may come to regret their wishes. Oh, they also get mixed up with at bit of a police procedural. This story has multiple characters and multiple Points of View. Every POV change is clearly marked with a new header. Inside each POV section, the POV character’s thoughts are in italics. This fiction is fully written and proof read (that is, a poor man’s proof read with the help of Word). It comes to about 90,000 words (about 330 RoyalRoad pages). It will be published in 19 chapters, roughly one chapter per day. Reviews and comments are much appreciated. And if you actually read all the way to the end, I will be extremely grateful if you could post a comment saying so. After all, the whole point of me publishing this is to share the story with at least one other person, and to know about it. And, yes, I don’t have any graphic artist skills. How did you guess?
