《Little Dark Age ◆ JeonJungkook✔》Two - Once Upon A Time, There Was Humanity

As expected did the apocalypse come unexpected.

You had started the day with Minnie waking you mercilessly, just like any other day. Nothing out of the ordinary.

"C'mon sis, time for breakfast."

"hnnn."

"Sis?"

"hnngf."

She pulled the blinds apart, sunlight flooding your stuffy room, making you hiss like the sun-appalled gremlin you are, "Get your fat ass up, you sloth. Just because we have a global pandemic doesn't mean you have to start living like a mole."

"I hate you."

Your older sister blew you a kiss, "Breakfast in ten, hurry up."

Having breakfast with your family, forcing yourself through online classes and getting milk at old Mrs. Ging's grocery store was just like any other day.

Granted, the current situation changed all up a bit, but having to wear masks and keeping your distance never bothered you.

The sun shone the same and your soft cotton tee felt the same on your skin. Kids were playing somewhere on the playground around the corner and Mrs. Ging was as sweet and thoughtful as always.

Never, not in a millions years, would you have been able to prepare yourself for what you would see when you returned home.

Your shoes dropped onto the floor and you threw your keys onto the counter, "I'm back! Got the milk and all!"

No answer.

"Mom?" You surrounded the corner, entering the living room, "Dad?"

A hissing. A snarling.

And then there was your father... just that it wasn't really your father.

"W-What-"

A creature, akin to a human's shape and covered in a weird, black substance all over, faced you from the other side of the room. Long limbs that dripped grossly smelling, black puddles onto the ground, no face traits on what seemed to be the creatures head, only a wide opened mouth with a pink tongue peeking out.

"Zzzzz"

"The fuck-" Your voice was high pitched and panicked, your heart thumping in your throat.

You took a step back - but each step you took backwards, made the creature take two forward. Soon your back hit the wall and the thing had almost entered the corridor as well.

You turned your head to the side, hoping to have an opportunity to escape outside, and your heart made a full stop.

Another creature blocked the exit, odd liquid making a mess all over your doormat.

A deep gurgling sound escaped the second creature's mouth, before the first made another, faster step forward, hissing at you.

Your breath was incredibly fast, legs shaking, limbs feeling heavy of fear.

This is just a dream. A fucking nightmare.

Just as you thought that, quick footsteps approached you from outside, at the same time as the first creature reaching forward.

"Y/N!"

Minnie pressed past the thing blocking your entry, tackling you in the moment those long, dripping arms reached you. You landed on your back, your sister on top of you.

"M-Minnie? What's going on?"

Your poor, amazing sister stared down at you in utter horror, "I don't know- They're everywhere- ahhg!"

She cried out when one slimy hand grabbed her, closing around her throat.

"Minnie!" You screamed, kicking after the monster behind her, trying to pry it's arms off of your sister. Your hands kept slipping off it's slimy skin, the odd, soft texture making it impossible for you to get a hold of it.

"Y-Y/N-" Minnie wheezed, pure horror in her eyes as she got lifted off the floor by the throat, panting and screaming.

Your ears were filled with your own screams, tears of fear filling your eyes as the creatures inched closer and closer, engulfing you and your sister.

And then, just like that, the world exploded.

A plane. It's pilots had somehow transformed into these horrific, black creatures, making it loose control completely and crash into your neighborhood.

You liked to believe that you survived because your parents shielded you, even in their transformed state, but you couldn't say this for sure logically.

You didn't know for how long you'd been unconscious, but Minnie and these slimy, black things were gone.

Your house was a mess, furniture torn apart and thrown over, food ripped out of each and every cupboard. Luckily, there was still some untouched food left for you, even if it wasn't much.

You managed to swallow down a few bites and drink something, all the while unable to think of anything besides Minnie's expression when these things pulled her away from you.

The desperate screams leaving her lips, cutting through your mind like glass shards even days after.

Even though your heart ached, even though every muscle in your body screamed, begged you to just remain still in your home until your eyes shut forever, you knew you needed to move.

You had no clue what the situation was like outside, whether whatever happened only affected Seoul or was an even bigger issue.

The final push for you to leave was when one of these creatures entered your house; Your heart had raced when you packed the most important items into your old school bag, lump in your throat while you climbed out of Minnie's window, letting yourself fall onto one of the containers behind the house.

Your throat had hurt from held back sobs while you ran down the streets, tear blurred eyes taking in the utter destruction around you. The plane in your neighborhood hadn't been the only vehicle causing chaos; Cars, trains and even bikes had transformed the city into a battle field, ruins of this once great city the only prove for the people who once lived here.

The worst part was that you met no one. No one, for days and days, while you fought for your own survival. The only living being crossing your path were these disgusting creatures.

Prowlers. That's what you had named them eventually, your bookworm-mind unable to stop itself from giving them such a weirdly romanticized name.

And, well, it fit in a way. These beings prowled around listlessly, with seemingly no destination, slow movements on their relatively weak limbs. They only ever got into motion when they spotted you (how so ever they did that without eyes), chasing you down until they got their slimy hands on you.

They didn't even look all that imposing - a little creepy maybe. Most of them had a shape similar to a human's body, some of them walking on two legs, some of them crawling. They had no face traits or other remarkable features you could be able to identify them individually with, being fully covered in this odd, slimy substances that luckily made it relatively easy for you to tell wether there were any prowlers near, since they always left a trace.

Only after some time did the stinky liquid evaporate, making you ask yourself once more what the fuck they even were, these prowlers.

Ah, yes, there was of course another thing; It took you sometime to realize it, but these creatures were once human. Somehow, people had started spontaneously transforming into these horrific horror movie extras.

Horror movie extras who threatened your life each second, almost killing you multiple times. Only out of pure luck did you survive the first week after the apocalypse happened and you had been convinced that you were bound to die soon.

You weren't made to survive all on your own, in such a life-threatening environment. Although you hated the thought of having it all to end so soon, you believed that you only had a few days left.

That was until you stumbled into that scythe-swinging maniac.

From the moment you saw him you knew in what way you were alike, wether you knew him at all or not: Neither of you wanted to let the stupid fucking end of the world kill you and you'd damn well fight against it with everything you've got.
