《Keeping It Halal》Wedding Talk
Advertisement
"Hurry up! Tala and Ahmed, clean the house up a bit! And Leena and May, please GO GET READY!" Mama scream whispered. Today Adel's family was coming over to talk about the wedding and stuff...I didn't want to get married until a few years; I'm 21, but I want to get married at like 25 maybe. BUT ADEL WANTS THE OPPOSITE😑.
"Ok, so what color do you want bae?" Leena asked. I looked at her then quickly looked away with a normal face. Then I turned back again with a confused look. "Bae?! What do you mean girl? And that's reserved for Adel." I chuckled. "I wanted to see if you would notice lol." She smiled. I picked out a maroon dress with glitter on it and did my silky blackish brownish hair into beach waves. My hair was short and dyed at the tips with gold highlights. Mariam and I did them together, but she has red instead. She ROCKS it!
Speaking of Mariam, I wanna call her. "Hey Leena, can you pass me my phone?" I asked, putting my silver hoops on. "On it." Leena handed me my phone. "Um, passcode please hahah." I chuckled. "Oh right, putting the hoops on for a reason!" Leena teased. "Shush." I retaliated. After I was finished with my hoops, I took my phone, which is the Iphone 7 by the way. I want to upgrade my phone, but Adel's buying me a new one for Eid, which is in a few months actually. I wonder how Mariam, Dalia and Mohamed are doing with the snow right now. "Kay, imma do my makeup; I'm wearing blue." Dalia said. I called Mariam and she picked up
May: OMG PICK YOUR PHONE UP!
Mariam: Kay, kay, kay chill! What's with all the makeup, huh?

I started blushing immedietly😂.
May: Well Adel's fam is coming over. what's new witchu?
Mariam: Well Marwan and I are good now so....yea. OH; There is this girl-
Dalia: OR GUY!
May: Wait Dalia how'd you join this call hahaha?!
Dalia: Houseparty, duh!
Mariam: So as I was SAYING, there's this person saying to 'Back away from her boyfriend' and we're trying to find out who she, OR he, to make Dalia proud I said he, is and also the guy she's talkin' bout'.
May: Ouuuu TEAAAA! Kay, I gotta go, but I love you; both!
I turned my phone off and moved on to my makeup. I took my M.A.C Wonder Pallette out and started using a bit of the golden shade.
After Leena and I both finished getting ready, we headed downstairs to be greetes by Adel's family. Adel got up and walked up to me, whispering "Hey Babe." He walked to the couch with me. "Adel, our PARENTS." I whispered back, trying to restrain from smiling. Jerk😑. "Ahlan! Keifik ya amira al jameela?" Adel's mom, Halima said. She said it in Arabic, so here's the translation. "Hello! How are you pretty princess?" I blushed a bit☺️ . His Dad's name was Mohamed (get used to it, so many Muslims name their baby boy Mohamed. "Betatkalimu Engileasy 'Do you speak English'?" I asked them. They nodded their heads. "Would you preffer that we do?" Halima (I'm not sure what I'm supposed to call her, cuz we only met like 3 times n this is the 3rd) said. "What ever Auntie Halima and Uncle Mohamed want." I said. "Oh please, call us Mama Halima and Baba Mohamed." Mama Halima said, laughing a little. I patted my lap, then went to get some juice.

*LEENA AND I TALKING IN THE KITCHEN*
"Leena I CAN'T DO IT! They make me so nervous and I think that they are covering up, saying they like me!" I whispered. We were whispering, so that Adel's fam don't hear us. I got the juice, after being reassured by Leena.
*BACK IN THE LIVING ROOM*
I brought the juice and was so nervous, that I spilt it all over the tray (NO CUPS WERE BROKEN, LUCKILY) "OH I CAN'T DO THIS!" I put it down and cried, running up to my room...I couldn't hear much, but then I heard a knock on my door. "Leena, Mama or Baba. Whoever out of the one of you it is, please, go away." I sobbed. "It's me Babe." Adel said. I got up and opened the door. I saw Leena standing to see if we gon' get physical....Because it's Haram pre-marriage. "Babe I love you. And of you're nervous my parents don't like you, I'll tell you the truth....They don't. They LOVE YOU. On the way here they couldn't stop talking ABOUT YOU. And May, you're PERFECT, ok? By the way, off topic, I know but cute tips. You did it yourself?" He asked, reffering to my highlights. I nodded and we headed downstairs. Maybe this won't be so bad after all. Maybe, we can- I can do this. "I am sorry. Just nervous." I said. And Mama Halima came up and HUGGED me. The tightest hug ever. And she said, "I am so happy to love you as my own, as well...My daughter passed away 7 years ago; at 14...Car accident." She weeped. Wow...That's sad. Her daughter would have so much ahead of her...She'd be 21 now, same age as Mo and I.

The Good Crash: An Oral History of the Post-Scarcity Collapse
"Don't we all feel, deep down, that we deserve the apocalypse?" APRIL, 2028—Global capitalism has collapsed. America has sealed itself off from the outside world, and inside its borders, a revolution rages. All it took was one incredible little machine. That machine turned into two, then four, then eight... like a virus, the replicators spread. As a work of oral history, The Good Crash features over 50 interviews with key witnesses to the events of 2027. The text is rendered in the words used by the interviewees themselves, with light editing for clarity and concision. As such, the book contains language and themes that are not appropriate for children.By capturing the voices to the people at the very root of the revolution, journalist and historian R. Vondersnitch has traced the origins and aftermath of the replicators' rapid spread. Crucially, the book also includes perspectives and testimony from those who attempted to stop the spread of the reps. "Some of these are heroes, too, in their own ways," the author writes in the book's introductory note.
