《Keeping It Halal》The End

-Hey guys! Me here, MuslimPapi! Btw it is NOT the end of the book!!! That is the chapter's name!

It was her. Mariam. MY Mariam. She dropped the box she was carrying and just froze reflecting me. After I noticed that we had been staring for a while, I lowered my gaze and picked her box up for her. It was heavy. But you know me, I got the muscle 💪. "Here you go...Mariam." I said to her. It took her a few seconds to react, but she took it from me after. "Thank you." She said, walking into Dalia's house and walking up the stairs. You may be wondering what I was actually doing in Dalia's house. I got here just five minutes ago to drop Kareema and Raya off and Dalia told me to help myself to a cup of orange juice so I did. Their parents are not home so I was just about to leave until Mariam got to the door. I yelled from downstairs, telling them I'd get it. And then Mariam showed up. I know we haven't been separated for long but...I MISSED HER. A lot! "Wait!" I started. She turned around, very confused. I cleared my throat. "I mean wait. Please...Can we um...talk?" I said, balancing my weight from foot to foot. I mean, I was nervous. "Sure. Just quickly. I don't want to keep Dalia waiting." She said back.

Why was he here?! Way to make me more nervous Kareem! I wanted to head upstairs and see Dalia. Wait- ARE RAYA AND KAREEMA HERE TOO?! Oh God! He asked to talk, so I said sure. I sat down at the table and he started talking. I could tell he was nervous. "Well...I..I-I lo.." He started. He couldn't finish his sentence. I know how he feels. He took a paper out and started reading. "Is it her looks or is it her eyes

They're shining through the night

She's a queen and hopefully mine one day and she'll stay

It's like they say it's love at first sight

And I know that's she's just right

and I will fight for her heart in return for

Her love." He said. He captivated my heart from then. I knew his song was meant for me. "Look Mariam. I like- LOVE you ok? But Kareema she threatened to tell the school. I am sorry. But, we can't-" "Kareem. Kareem it's ok. I love you too. Since the day we met. I really do." I said back. "No. You can't because we can't be together. My adoptive parents they...they said so...Because of Kareema. She put a bad image in their minds and they don't believe me." He said. What? What was he talking about? He loves me...Doesn't he? He went outside for a second and told me to wait. When he got back inside, he handed me a creme white rose. "I'm sorry Mariam. Bye." He said. And with that, he walked out of the house and hopped into his car. I started balling my eyes out and I think I was loud enough for Dalia, Kareema and Raya to hear. "What?! YOU'RE HERE?!" Kareema and Raya just smirked at me and signaled for Kareem to wait. They hopped into his car and drove off. Dalia immediately rushed over and pulled me up in a bundled hug. "I'm so sorry. I heard a bit." She said, pulling me close. "I'm sorry I-" "No. No it's fine. I uh...gotta get going. Oh and here are some things for your room." I interrupted her, handing the box full of room decor. "Thanks and just know this: They came over. I didn't invite them." She told me. She let me go. "I know Dalia. I know. You would never do that to me." I said walking out of the door, tearing up again. I walked out and ran to the park, under the tree I always went to when I was sad. Thankfully, the park was kind of empty. I sat under it, sobbing silently, alone. Just me and my thoughts. And Allah. He's with me. I know He'll never leave me. He is my Lord- The All Mighty. I sat there with my head in my knees for about twenty minutes, until someone came and sat by me. Marwan. What did HE want? "So, you're back Mariam?" He asked. Wait...Did he just call me Mariam? "Why are you being so nice to me? You always call me names, like Fatty, Dork, Nerd and a bunch of other names." I said, just listing a few of the rude names he calls me. I looked up from my knees. "I decided it would be nice to- meh never mind." He said and walked away. What was that all about? Wierdo🙄. I got up and dropped the rose on the ground. It was time to move on; or at least try to move on from this misery. This messed up fairy tale. This once opon a time beginning. This really is the end of the road, is it?
