《Keeping It Halal》Back To School Drama

March break ended and I was FINALLY heading to school! I will get to see Kareema and confront her about what happened. Just then, I got a call from her. I didn't pick up because I was busy taking a shower, but I heard her voicemail that message she sent me. "Hello Mariam. I am so sorry about what I did. I truly am. I thought of what I did and it wasn't nice. Please forgive me." She cried into the microphone. I sent her a whole voice message saying I accept her apology and that I hope she doesn't do it again. After that, I slipped my hoodie on, because it was a little chilly today and I stepped out of the door after saying my Salams to my whole family. I decided that after school, I'd go and see May, for the fifteenth time. I visited her a lot during the March Break. I missed her so much. She was almost recovered but she still has to stay in the hospital. Her surgery went very well. Alhamdullallah.
When I got to school, I saw Raya, Dalia and Kareema at the door. They all came running to hug me. I hugged them back, happily. I missed them so much. "So wassup up squad?! I missed you guys so much! I was visiting my aunt in Michigan during the break." Raya squwealed. "And we missed you too Raya. May got shot..At the mall." I told them. Dalia already knew but Raya and Kareema didn't. "Oh my God...We're so sorry." Raya and Kareema said. They held me in a tight hug again. After that hug, I knew that Kareema was really sorry from the things she did. Just then, Kareem came up to us. My face lit up instantly. "Alsalamualakum Kareem. I'm happy that everything got solved Alhamdullallah!" I chuckled. He just stared blankly at me. There was mystery and rage in his eyes. They were so puffy, tears I think. He looked like he wanted to tear up and explode. I could tell. But what was troubling him? He just walked away, turned his back to us. What was up with him? Maybe he really did hate me.

When the bell rang for the first break, I headed to my locker to put my notes and binder for math class back in my locker. Just then I bumped into something and fell. It was Kareem. I stood up, taking my things with me. "Hey watch where you're going dork!" He yelled at me. I thought Kareema set him up at the mall. But maybe she didn't because he was doing the same thing: SCREAMING AT ME!!! "Kareem what is your problem?! I thought we were good after what happened with Kareema and all that stuff. So why are you being rude to me? Did he set you up?!" I yelled ack. By now, a group of popular kids were watching us. And the most popular kid in the grade, Insaaf walked up to us. I never really talked to her so I didn't have a problem with her. "What's the prob you guys?" She asked. She was wearing a light pastel purple cropped top that went up to almost the end of her chest when she lifted her arms with some white skinny jeans. Her hair was up in a messy bun and she had layers and layers of makeup on. Isn't she a Muslim? Wait...I shouldn't judge people...The prophet Mohamed, Peace And Blessings Be Opon Him said that "Oh you who belive (Islam), surely, avoid suspicion, for surely suspicion is in SOME cases a sin." I remember Raya saying that Insaaf is a Muslim, but her wearing these un-modest clothes are between her and Allah, Subhana Wa Taala. If Allah wants to punish her, that's between him and her. He may or may not. "Nothing Insaaf. Nothings wrong." I told her kindly. I didn't want her to get into this argument. I knew it would just get worse and worse. "No. There is something wrong. This punk thinks she can stand up to you! Kareem, will you let that happen?!" Insaaf told Kareem. "You're not his consionce!" I wanted to say. But I kept my mouth shut because I knew it wouldn't result in any good. Insaaf put her hand around Kareem. At that instant, Kareema came to the rescue. "Hey you let go of him! You know that you can't touch a guy without him being a Mahram (Male related to you in Islam including Husband)!" Kareem took Insaaf's hand off of him and ran out to who knows where. Kareema, Raya and Dalia came by my side and led me to the girls washroom. Insaaf kept giving us cold and nasty stares. "Are you ok?" Raya asked. I nodded. "Kareema what is up with him? I did nothing wrong!" I cried. Kareema hugged me. "It'll be ok Inshallah. You'll see." Kareema was a great friend. They all were great friends. "Thanks guys. You really did make me feel better." I told them. We walked out of the girls washroom, together in a group. I was so glad to be friends with an amazing group of beautiful girls, on the inside and out.

Disillusionment leading to anger has erupted into violence across the deceptively peaceful land. New friends and allies gather by her side, but tragedy and betrayal lurk closer than she realizes. The original version of the first book was published on RR in 2019 and has since seen multiple revisions based on reader feedback with this one as the final and official fourth version before the second book. While the entire series story has undergone major changes in the last year, all books have been planned since the beginning of writing. It is also my second wish to eventually make this story into a webcomic, either by myself or with a team if possible. Thank you for taking this journey with me, and enjoy reading! ( You can alternatively read books in the series as standalone fictions, but they connect to one another though a running theme and mystery that evolves and progresses with the main character. ) Alternate Blurb for the Singularity Cycle series: Essairyn had never felt truly alive on Earth. It felt like something was missing ever since she was born, but even after nearly 20 years of mundane living, she could never pinpoint what this or the emptiness in her heart was. Suddenly, she awakens in a grandiose, primordial forest and encounters mythical creatures beyond her restless imagination in a parallel world called Sol'h'meyr. She befriends, in particular, a sassy fox-spirit named Akari who reincarnated after three millennia. Essairyn is gifted with abnormal magic, and Akari is being chased by those of her dark past. Together, they set out on an adventure in a world more dangerous than its beautiful facade could hide. Finding new friends along a path riddled with tragedy, Essairyn must learn who to trust as deceit and betrayal lie behind kindly faces. Life in this deceptively promising world slowly spirals down a path of no return. This is not a game, but cruel reality. Her simple adventure became the modest beginnings in a chain of disruptions that tore even the dimensional fabric of time and space. No one, not even Essairyn, was who she thought they were. And not even the fickle gods could change the time-worn destiny of the universes... A single promise shook eternity’s existence.

Alon wishes to be remembered—to stamp his existence on this cruel world, to engrave the fact that "he was here" into the very Earth. This is his sole purpose; To be important. For what greater reason is there to exist if not to be remembered? People are special. People aren’t... Your actions in this life define how those left behind remember you. Once you die, you’re reborn and live on, if only for a time; The grander the actions in this life, the longer your second one becomes. Alon knows this better than anyone, and he will live in the minds and hearts of everyone in Krestelen longer than anyone that has come before. Krestelen is a place long forgotten by those outside its walls; known by most as the Cursed City of The Dead, with the Lower Tier of the City being abandoned by the Upper Tiers after an inexplicable Fog blanketed the entire sector thirty-four years ago. This Fog adds those unfortunate enough to be caught within it into the legions of Vacant roaming the empty streets of the city: A creature that has seemingly lost all reasoning and sanity, to wander around the streets crying into the palms of their hands as they beg for help, to be freed from their condition. This is the place that Alon, and the Gang led by his mentor Casian, shall steal the very source of what gives those in power—the rightfully ruling family, the Deramore's—their ability to live in luxury as those below in the Lower Tier struggles to survive. They will forever be cast into the annals of the history of this cursed place—for better, or for worse.
