"Where are you going?" Oikawa asked as you gathered your things.

"I'm your boss now so stop asking me questions," you teased. Your promotion was pretty hefty and you were already enjoying using this line.

"Guessing you're going out with Kuroo?"

"What? How did you—never mind," you sighed, heading to the lobby.

"Ready to go?" Kuroo asked, surprising you from behind.

"Oh, yeah sure," you smiled, noticing the same girl from earlier had just walked out of the elevator with him.

"Something bothering you?" You shook your head as he held his hand out for you to grab.

You two spent the rest of the night cheering for Bokuto at his game. You always did go a little overboard with the cheering, but his team won so at least you didn't look that stupid.

"I forgot how cute you look when you get all excited," Kuroo stretched his arms out as you walked out of the stadium. It was dark and windy outside, completely different weather than earlier. "Take this," he took his jacket off and wrapped it around you, putting the hood on.

"Huh?" you looked up, confused. "I'm not that cold."

"It's gonna rain any minute now," he said. You felt a raindrop on your fingertip a few seconds later.

"I forgot how good you were at that. Wait, if it's raining can we—"

"Yeah, we can stay outside a bit," he finished your sentence.

You skipped in front of him as it continued to drizzle. Rain and thunderstorms were your favorite, though he hated it.

"Y/N, let's go inside somewhere," he said after a few minutes. "We're gonna catch colds," he sniffled. His nose and cheeks turned red in the cold rain.

"My hotel's around the corner. What do you say?"

"Let's go," he rubbed your cheek with one hand, making your heart skip a beat.

You reached your hotel room and each took a shower. You had clothes to change into but the best you could do for Kuroo was give him the hotel robe from the closet.

"Sorry I don't have any clothes for you. It'll be an hour or two before yours dry."

"No worries," he relaxed on your bed, resting his hands behind his head. "Just means we get to spend more time together."

You sat on the edge of the bed. Kuroo patted the area beside him.

"Are you sure?" you asked nervously.

"Just come here," he let his hand out, pulling you beside him so your head rested on his shoulder. You tried pulling away—you felt too close—but he put his hand around your waist and tightened his grip.

"What are you doing?" you whispered as he ran his fingers through your wet hair. He didn't say anything for a long time.

"Nothing. I'm just happy to see you're doing better. I'm really sorry Y/N, you deserved so much better."

You sighed. He normally read you like an open book, but this time he couldn't be more wrong.

You didn't say anything though, you were too busy enjoying the feeling of being in his arms again.

"Anyway, meet anyone nice in Hong Kong?" You could feel his heartbeat faster as he asked the question.

"Not really."

"That's too bad."

"Did you meet anyone while I was gone?" you asked, thinking of that girl you'd seen.

"Got an assistant. She actually looks a lot like you. For some reason I don't like her though."

The two of you laid there in silence for a bit, listening to the rain fall as you slowly fell asleep. Kuroo turned the lamp off and kissed your forehead.

"Forgive me, Y/N. After all the hurt I caused you, I still can't get over you," he muttered before falling asleep next to you.

"Hmm?" you woke up the next morning rubbing your eyes, startled seeing Kuroo next to you. "What happened!?"

"Sorry. You seemed comfy so I didn't want to move."

You got up, embarrassed, and walked to the kitchen to make some oatmeal. Kuroo changed into his freshly cleaned clothes from last night and joined you.

The two of you spent the rest of the day reminiscing on past memories. It was almost dinner when Kuroo checked the time.

"Shoot. I haven't been to work all day. I have to get going and grab some things."

He got his stuff together.

"Are you sure?" you asked, slightly disappointed the day had come to an end.

"Yeah. Let's do this again sometime. As friends. I missed you."

You walked over to the door and opened it for him, keeping your head down before he gave you a hug.

"Goodbye, Y/N," he said, wrapping his arms around your waist as you wrapped yours around his neck. "I guess this chapter's closed now."

He pulled his arms away, but you kept holding him. You couldn't let go.

You knew he had places to be, things to do, and much more important priorities but you had to be selfish to ask what you were going to ask.

"Y/N?" he asked quietly, putting a hand on your waist. You sniffled and let out a few tears which collected on his shirt.

"Don't let me go again," you whispered. "Stay with me, please."

His eyes went wide in surprise.

"What did you just say?" he pulled you away so you faced him. He couldn't believe it—he thought you were over him.

"I'm not...over you. So stay, please. I know it's selfish but I have to ask."

"I cant hurt you anymore."

"It doesn't hurt if I know you love me. What hurts most is that I don't know how you feel. If you don't love me anymore, stop acting like we're together. That hurts even more."

You both stared at each other, realizing neither one of you wanted to give each other up.

Kuroo leaned closer and softly kissed your jawline, like he did the first time you came over to his place.

"You really wanna be with me again? Start over and all?" he mumbled quietly into your ear.

"Not start over. Pick up where we left off. I don't want to forget those two years."

He lightly kicked the door closed and placed one hand on your cheek, the other moving through your hair.

"Even better," he smiled before planting his lips on yours.

With that, it felt like that part of you missing finally returned.

"Sorry I'm a little rusty," he tried to speak between kisses. "It's been a while."

Your eyes told him it was okay and he lifted you up, placing you down on the bed and working on the buttons of your shirt. "What do you want?" he hovered his face over yours.

"Everything. You know me best." A wicked grin took over his face as you whimpered under his touch.

The next thing you knew it was midnight and you'd woken up beside Kuroo. Neither of you had clothes on and it took you a second to remember what just happened. You tried moving your legs but they were awfully sore. You felt his grip on your waist tighten.

"I have work tomorrow. You could've gone a little easy on me," you muttered as he kissed down your neck. "We didn't have to make up for six months all in one night."

He ignored you like his attention was preoccupied with something else.

"You still wear this?" he tugged on the ruby ring necklace. "For how long?"

"I never took it off. I wanted you to notice," you lowered your voice, embarrassed.

"I didn't believe when Oikawa told me. By the time I realized it was too late."

"Too late?" your brows furrowed in confusion.

"The night you left, I came to get you at the airport. I wasn't quick enough."

"Y-you did?" you asked hesitantly. He nodded. "I think I would have stayed if I'd seen you."

"Let's not worry about what went wrong," he shrugged. "Let's do something about this instead," he yanked the necklace off your neck and strung the ruby ring off.

"Ow!" you groaned, reaching for your neck. When you looked back down he had the ring on your finger.

"Marry me, Y/N."

He didn't have to say it as a question because he already knew your answer.
