《Win You Over (Kuroo x Reader)》Chapter 25

"Here," you handed Oikawa his keys, taking a seat at the bar. It was busy but you didn't recognize anyone else there.
"Thanks! Tell Kuroo I said hi," he smiled, taking them from you.
"I'll do that. Say, do you know what room is Akaashi staying in? I need to ask him something."
"Akaashi? I forget but his room's near mine. I could take you."
"Could you?"
"Yeah, c'mon," he took your hand and walked to the elevator. He turned to look at you once the doors shut. "What's wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing."
"Your hands are shaking and your eyes are puffy," he yawned, pressing the emergency stop button on the elevator. "I have time."
You swatted his hand away, making the elevator start up again.
"Just stop being nosy and take me where I asked," you mumbled, pushing him away. "Please."
He stared with wide eyes as the elevator doors opened.
"O-okay," he whispered. "I'm sorry." You followed him out the elevator to the end of the hallway. "Here it is," he stopped in front of a door and turned around to face you. "Look Y/N. I don't know what's going on but don't do anything stupid, okay?"
You walked around him and pressed the visitor bell, ignoring him as he walked away. "I'll do what I want," you said, hearing him sigh.
One door closed and another opened. Akaashi stood in front of you in the middle of unbuttoning his shirt. "Oh, Y/N. What's up?" he moved out of the way, letting you in.
"Why didn't you tell me?" you walked past him, making sure his room was empty.
"Tell you what?"
"Stop playing dumb."
"Woah," he grabbed your hand. "I really don't know what's going on."
"You don't? He didn't tell you? He didn't tell you..." you repeated quietly in disbelief. "Y-you don't know?"

"Y/N, sit down," he eyed the bed. "Calm down and tell me what's going on."
"You don't know," you said again, sitting on the edge of his bed as he kneeled in front of you.
"I don't. Tell me." You were silent for what felt like hours before speaking.
"He knows."
"Who? Kuroo? He figured it out?"
"No. He always knew. He knew before he even met me," you buried your face in your hands. "None of it was real." You held back sobs.
"All this time? Did he say that?"
You nodded. Though Kuroo never actually said that, but you'd come to believe it yourself.
"Don't leave yet, you could use this," he pulled you into a hug, rubbing your back. You stayed like that for a while—it felt nice to be held by someone who was honest to you.
"C-could you make me forget?" you whispered, looking up at him. "I don't want to remember. I want to forget everything about him."
"You don't mean," he muttered as his lips hovered over yours, "this?"
"Please," you pleaded. He took your chin in his hand.
"I'm sorry," he slowly pulled away. "I can't."
"What do you mean you can't!" you cried. "You're the one who—"
"I can't because I refuse to believe he doesn't still love you. This isn't the way to feel better." He then lowered his voice. "I can't let you do something you'll regret tomorrow. Even if I might want to."
"You want to? Then do it."
Akaashi shook his head. You hardly noticed how desperate you sounded in the heat of the moment.
"Come here." You laid your head on his chest, exhausted. "I can't kiss you. It'll just create more problems. You don't want this. I know you don't."
"But—"
"You love Kuroo, right?"
"What? No!" you felt a tear fall down your cheek. "Can't you see I'm mad at—"

"You wouldn't be so heartbroken if you didn't love him," Akaashi gave you a kiss on the forehead.
You realized he was right and couldn't hold it in after that.
You started sobbing into his chest; you'd already embarrassed yourself so much it didn't matter anymore.
"Let it out. Whatever you need to feel okay."
That was the last you remembered of that night.
You woke up to the sound of familiar voices speaking. You made sure to pretend to be asleep to listen to them.
"These are for her. These too. Make sure she takes these anyway. She's been feeling too sick to skip them lately," a familiar voice spoke, making you shiver. There was only one person who knew you that well.
"Yeah I got it," Akaashi placed your things down. "Are you gonna say anything to her?" he asked, lowering his voice.
"Does she want to talk to me?"
"I don't think she can even see your face. You messed her up real bad you know."
"I know," he whispered. It seemed like he struggled with what he said next. "She has every right to not want to see me. I miss her already but I can't talk to her until she asks for me. When she does, you'll tell me?"
"Mhm," Akaashi nodded. You heard the door close and sat up.
"What happened?" you asked.
"Oh good, you're up. Good morning," Akaashi handed you some pills and poured a glass of water. "Kuroo left these for you."
"Did he say anything else?"
"Huh?"
"Did Kuroo say anything else? If he gave these he was here earlier, right?"
"Oh, um. Not really. Just gave me your things and said he'll wait for you when you're ready."
"What if I'm never ready?" you swallowed your pills and rubbed your head.
Akaashi placed the back of his hand on your forehead.
"You're hungover," he grabbed a container out of the bag Kuroo gave, ignoring your question. "Here," he handed you a green drink.
Kuroo had always made it himself for you—it was the only thing that cured your hangovers. He'd probably made some yesterday seeing how much alcohol was at the family house.
"What happened last night?" you asked, pinching your nose and downing the gross drink.
"You drank a lot. Sorry, I didn't really know how else to help you," he scratched his head, giving a small smile.
"I don't remember anything so I guess it did the job," you laid back down.
"I also remember you coming on to me," he laughed, placing the covers over you.
"Don't remind me," you buried your face in the pillow, embarrassed as the memories came back to you. "I'm really sorry. That would have been horrible, wouldn't it?"
"It really would have been," he closed the blinds, dimming the room. "Get some rest, it's still early," he said, sitting next to you on the bed and opening a book. "I'm here if you need me. As long as you need."
He didn't mention how he'd kissed you when you asked last night, once you were too far gone to know better than what you were asking for.
He didn't mention how he didn't think it was horrible at all. He didn't mention how he'd wished for another kiss, for something more with you all this time.
He didn't mention because he knew how you felt towards Kuroo, despite everything that had happened. It was obvious, even to someone like him who'd fallen in love with you sometime in the past year, that you were still in love with Kuroo.
And so Akaashi kept that moment, that kiss, for himself. As long as he had feelings for you all he ever wanted was for you to be happy.
Despite last night he still knew deep down you were truly happy with Kuroo, and he wasn't going to do anything to ruin that.
