《The Island Princess (Edmund Pevensie x Reader)》9

Midnight fell in Aslan's country and I still haven't gone to sleep. If I could control the nightmares I had Everytime I shut my eyes, I would be asleep by now, but I just can't.
I walk to the back of the Dawn Treader, keeping a tight grip on the tail of the dragon ship, I sit down, dangling my feet with the ocean below me. I take off my necklace and open the heart locket. Memories flood my mind as I think of my mother's death.
(A/N: I edited the first chapter about her mother's death. If you don't know, she went missing for two days and was found frozen dead. Sorry hehe)
"Are you alright?" said a sleepy voice from behind me.
I turn my head to find Lucy in her nightgown holding a small candle.
I quickly close my locket and wear the necklace "Lucy? Why are you up so late?".
"I... I heard you..." Lucy rubs her eyes sleepily.
I stood up and walked to her,"I'm so sorry for waking you up."
"I think I'm blessed somehow. Everytime I get out of my bed, some angel follows behind."
We share a quiet giggle as we sit down at the edge of the sleeping ship.
"Is something troubling you?" Lucy asks curiously.
"I hope you don't get angry, but your room is right next to mine and Susan and I heard you crying. The difference is, Susan can sleep through it and I can't." she explains nervously, trying to maybe get me to laugh at that last bit.
I giggle to not worry her.
Then I took a deep breath and sighed. "I'm sorry for disturbing you, Lucy. I was just having... a nightmare." I look down at my fingers that were fiddling with each other. Something I do when I'm nervous.
I look at her again, "I just chose not so sleep anymore so I don't-"
"Cry?" she interrupts sympathetically, knowing that if I said it, I might've broken down into tears then and there.
"Exactly." I nod gently.
"What did you dream about?" she tilts her head, anxiously waiting for an answer.
Then she pauses for a brief moment.
"Oh, forget I said that. You don't have to tell me if you aren't comforta-"
"No, no. It's okay. I prevented you from sleeping so it's only fair. Though I wouldn't call it a dream." I said, raising an eyebrow.
"Right, nightmare." she corrected herself.
I sighed heavily.
I looked down,"It was... about my mother."
"What happened to her? Is she alright?" Lucy says with her tone getting more worried.
"I-I keep having replays of her death.." I try to explain to Lucy.
"Oh no... I'm so sorry about your mother." She says sympathetically as she places a hand on my shoulder trying to comfort me.
"But the d-death was two years ago. I don't know why it's all... coming back." I shuddered.
"I was able to move on eventually. Six months after she died. I was able to live my life normally, but ever since last night... her death haunts me again.".

Lucy stays silent.
"Do you think it has something to do with Narnia?" she asks.
Now that she's mentioned it, it all started ever since I got to Narnia.
"But how come I didn't get nightmares last night?" I asked her.
"You didn't?" then she thought a bit longer. "Maybe you felt... safe?" she continued as a smile formed on her face.
Safe? Safe how? All I did was sleep in Edmunds arms...
Wait. Did I feel safe in Edmund's arms? I mean... it did feel good, warm and cozy but I never thought I felt safe... now that I think of it... I guess I did feel safe.
I looked at her. Her small smile, now turned in to a wide grin.
"Lucy Pevensie, it's not what you think" I inform her pretentiously.
"I'm not saying anything, Y/N!" she giggled "But I think you already know what I mean." she nudges my shoulder.
I stare at her with my eyebrow raised.
"It's our secret." she whispers. "I won't tell anyone, I promise." She says lifting her right hand.
I stay silent, my eyes as wide as ever.
"Well, while you go on and think about my brother, I'm going to go try to get some sleep. Goodnight, Y/N!" she stands up and skips quietly back into her room.
I keep my astonished expression. "Think about my brother?" I repeat Lucy's phrase. "What's she on about?" I say to myself while fiddling with my locket.
What am I on about?
The night was getting a bit darker now that the clouds started covering the moon.
I take a deep breath, stand up, I dust myself and try to walk down the deck without tripping.
At this point the moon's been completely covered. All I see are light highlights of the floor and shiny doorknobs.
I open the door to my bedroom and lie down, to try to get some sleep.
Something didn't feel normal though, there was a weight from the other side of the bed.
Someone is in my bed... with me.
I turn around to maybe catch a glimpse of who it was, just then, the moon suddenly decided to shine for me to see who else was on my bed...
Edmund Pevensie?!
My eyes widen in shock. I must've went into the wrong room. I turn around and try to get out of the bed as quietly and quickly as possible, I then feel an arm wrap around my waist, locking me into place. It was his arm. I try to gently loosen the arm, trying not to wake him up so he doesn't freak out, but that only loosens for a mere second and his arm tightens even more.
I try sliding under his arm, only to end up in another unfortunate situation. His gosh darn leg. His leg locks me in to place. At this point, I knew he was just playing.
"Stay.."
I hear what Edmund says and I glare at him expecting to see him awake, I see him asleep instead. Not just asleep, I mean asleep.

My glare turns into a stare as the moon hits his features. The moonlight hitting in the right areas of his face, he looked godly. I studied each and every aspect of his face. How his eyebrows are thick and messy, freckles scattered around his face, his plump lips, his adorable nose. I felt like a scientist studying an alien.. an attractive alien.
I eventually fell asleep...
And I had no nightmares.
. . .
The next morning...
"Whoa!" I hear a shout right beside my ear and a sudden movement. It was Edmund and he just sat up.
I opened my eyes and saw him right beside me. My eyes widen in shock as I sit up. "What are you doing here you pervert?!"
"Who are you calling a pervert?! You're the one in my room! In my he shouts back.
I start getting memory flashes of what happened last night. I was the one who snuck into his room.
"W-well, I wouldn't have slept here i-if you didn't p-pull me back in the b-bed!" I stutter, trying to defend my fragile situation.
"What are you talking about?!" he shouted back. He then paused for a moment as if he was trying to remember what he did... and then he gasped.
"See? You wanted me to stay with you." I said, proving my point.
"I wouldn't have asked you to stay if you didn't come in!" he answered back.
I started running out of excuses.
"Look, it was an accident that I came in here okay?" I say as I rub my eyes to try and wake up a bit more.
"Oh really?" he smirked. "Or maybe you really wanted to sleep beside me?" he whispered as he leaned in closer.
I pushed his head away "Sorry to break it to you King Edmund, but I would never do such a ridiculous act."
He raised his eyebrow and smirked "Hm. You just did though."
I scoffed. "I didn't. It was dark and I thought this was my room. When I found out you were sleeping on the bed, it was already too late and you..." I stopped.
"I what?" he asked.
"Y-You pulled me and told me to stay." I continued. Looking down so he doesn't see me blush.
He stayed quiet. "I-"
Someone knocked on the door.
"Edmund are you alright?" Peter was on the other side of the door. "I heard you shout."
Edmund and I looked at each other.
He faced the door and shouted
"Uhh. I'm fine! I just saw a..." he looked at me not knowing what to say next.
Then a dolphin jumped out from the water, high enough to be seen from the window.
"A...?" Peter was getting impatient.
"A dolphin! A dolphin jumping from the water!" I whispered to him in a panic.
"I saw a dolphin! Did you see it? It jumped so high, I could see it from here."
Edmund said enthusiastically. I started laughing quietly from his accurate display of genuine emotion.
"What?! A dolphin?"
"Yeah!"
"Uh, okay. Just get up already, food is set. I'm going to wake up Y/N now." Peter answered from behind the door.
Edmund and I looked at each other not knowing what to do.
"You- You can't!" Edmund shouted.
"What? I can't hear you clearly, can you please open the door." Peter shouted in an annoyed tone.
I gestured him to go open the door so we don't seem suspicious. It's not like we did anything we weren't supposed to, we just wanted to save ourselves from explaining to Peter.
Who am I kidding? I totally did something I wasn't supposed to.
As I hid behind the big chest in the room, Edmund went to open the door.
"Oh, Edmund. You finally opened the door." Peter chuckled.
"Umm, yes." Edmund rubbed his neck.
"You can't go in Y/N's room."
"Why not?" Peter said crossing his arms.
"Because you're a boy." said a voice from behind Peter.
It was Lucy.
"I'll wake her up Peter. It would be a bit weird if you did." she said with her hands on her hips.
"You go on and have breakfast. We'll follow." Lucy pushes Peter to the direction of the dining room.
Then she saw me hiding behind the chest and winked at me.
Was she covering for me?
Edmund shut the door and faced me. I got out of my hiding spot.
"What just happened?" Edmund asked.
"Did she know you were in here?"
"I think she was covering for me." I told him.
"Hm." Edmund said to himself.
"I have to go before the rest of the crew found out we slept togeth-" I stopped realizing how different it sounded.
Edmund raised his eyebrow and smirked.
"Keep your thoughts to yourself, Pevensie." I rolled my eyes.
"I didn't say anything." he answered back.
"You're very cheeky, aren't you?" I asked him.
"If I'm having fun, then yes." he smirked.
I rolled my eyes. How could this boy be a King of Narnia?
I peeped out the door to check if the coast was clear enough so I wouldn't be noticed coming out of Edmund's room.
There were about seven men outside, each doing their own thing. I quickly tiptoed my way out the door and into my room.
I went in and found Susan sitting on my bed.
She stands up and walks to my direction, "Y/N?".
"Susan? What are you doing here?" I ask, worried she might've found out about last night.
"What am I doing here? I think you're asking the wrong question." she crossed her arms...
She looked at me dead in the eye, "What were you doing in there?".
A/N: This is probably the longest chapter I've written as of now. 2000+ words! Thank you for all the reads! I think I've improved my writing a bit! Please don't be shy and leave positive comments and spread love. Especially now that there's a pandemic. Take care all of you!

Pawns of God
Five Lines PitchJoin Mark in his fight against a God and change the game's destiny! Delve into a slow-paced story focused on the progression of the main party and the development of the world. Mark himself will be narrating his life inside the game, and to a much lesser extend outside. Guild building, economy, and strategy are the central pieces of the novel. Mark is not overpowered, he will have to build his own power through action-packed battles, trials, traumas, love, and death. Accompany him, the healer and the strategist, an agent of chaos, in the adventure of his life. Without further preamble, I will let Mark take the mic. SynopsisHi! My name is Mark. This is my story, my life as I live it day after day. I’m in my thirties, and there’s nothing I love more than playing online games. I’ve just joined the action on the newest VRMMO game, Pawns of God. An immersive experience you can play while sleeping. Of course, as a game that takes pride in its long development and technological advances, everything inside seems and feels real. Beware, this is not a game-turns-real story. I love my own world and I would detest being summoned into another one. If that ever happens, I’ll just quickly take my life and be done with it. I play with my friends, in a party of 5. We have taken several roles, but lately, I've come to love being a healer. It's my secret ambition to someday be the shotcaller. I am not overpowered. If there is any bug or exploit in the game, they are yet to be discovered. Anyhow, for a game of this scale, the company is pouring all of its resources into test servers, QA, and beta tests. I don’t expect to find any, so I’ll be playing the game just like any other person. I must say, though, I am easily distracted, as you will immediately notice once you start. I'm working on it, I promise to improve! I am no hero. Being in my 30s, my heart is too old for this shit. I wouldn’t mind being one, of course. Who hasn’t dreamt of it? Either way, I’m not doing any grand quest to save the world. Whatever the game throws to their users, I’ll be there to experience it. Most of my life, at least the interesting parts that I’ll be narrating, happen inside the game itself. Rarely, there will be some IRL (In Real Life) chapters. You’ll understand, however, that as a freelance software developer, there is not much I can entertain you with when outside the game. Did I say I love games? Well, I’m also a fan of LitRPG literature. You know, journeys of magic, relationships, personal development, items, skills, discovery… In the spirit of not overwhelming my public, I’ll condense each chapter into circa 1500 words. You might have noticed some tags over this story, let me elaborate. I like to swear. I’m not shy when it comes to cursing my enemies, friends, or even myself. When there’s blood, I tell it as I see it. And… it hurts to admit it, but I’m not a casanova. Of course, this doesn’t mean that I won’t ever find love. So, in case I do end up finding it, let’s keep my sexual options open. As for traumas, none yet, but the future is vast and unknown. Release Schedule The schedule is subject to change, particularly if enough readers end up loving it. All chapters are already written, thus there is enough freedom to modify them. Arc 1 * Chapters 1-14: Each released one day and an hour later than the previous. Starting with chapter 2 at 09:20 UTC+2 on day 1, and finishing at 21:20 UTC+2 on day 13. Elapsed: 2 weeks Total: 2 weeks * Chapters 15-30: Releases every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 11:30 UTC+2. Elapsed: 5½ weeks Total: 7 weeks (1 month, 3½ weeks) * Chapters 31-49: Releases every Wednesday and Saturday at 11:30 UTC+2 Elapsed: 9½ weeks Total: 17 weeks (4 months, 1 week) All subsequent arcs will follow the same release schedule, 2/week. No hiatus will be done between arcs 1 and 2.
