《The Island Princess (Edmund Pevensie x Reader)》5

Stumpton, Tigris, the Pevensies, and I were walking for 20 minutes. What seemed to be a short time, but easier said than done.

We all stopped in front of a big tree. Big enough to carry a house. Stumpton hit the side of a tree which seemed to be hollow and empty because of the echoes it made. A ladder fell from the top of the tree down to our feet. Tigris started climbing from the branches, Stumpton climbed up the ladder, followed by Peter, Lucy then Susan. I was hesitant to go in. I didn't want to be in a dwarf's treehouse.

Edmund was just about to take the first step. "You coming?" he asked.

"No, I think I'll stay down here." I said crossing my arms and leaning on the tree.

"Come on now, you aren't still mad at the poor dwarf, are you?" Edmund teased, swinging at the vine and branch ladder.

I looked at him, annoyed and walked away "Of course no-OOOAAAAAH!" I screamed as I feel into a pit which seemed to be covered with leaves. It was probably a trap of some sort.

I immediately heard footsteps running towards the pit. Edmund looked at me and laughed. I glared at him, still annoyed.

When he was done he shouted "You sure you wanna stay down there?" with a mischievous smile.

I got even more annoyed. I started looking around the small pit, hoping to find something that would help me escape. "I don't need your help" I shouted back.

"Okayyy! I'll just stand here and watch." He smirked watching my failure.

For about five minutes, I was grunting and struggling to get out, unfortunately I couldn't get out. I guess Edmund got a bit bored watching me, since he wasn't there when I looked up. After a few more grunts, Edmund jumped in the pit holding a vine from the big tree.

I turned around and he saw me. The pit was small so our bodies were close to each other. Our faces, three inches away. We looked at each other face to face for what seemed to be forever.

I cleared my throat to break the silence. "W-what are you doing here? I d-don't need your help." I said trying to sound tough.

"Don't be silly. Hold on to me." He said tugging the vine to make sure it wouldn't break.

I was still hesitant to hold on to him. He noticed the doubt in my face.

"Trust me. I would never let you fall." he said. His face was serious, his eyes focused on me.

That phrase sent butterflies in my stomach. My cheeks flushed into a bright red color. Edmund chuckled. I held on to him and laid my head on his chest as he climbed up the pit.

When were were both on higher ground, I turned to thank him but our faces were very much closer than I remember.

"You okay?" he asked me, not breaking his gaze.

"Yeah. Thanks" I said, not breaking my gaze either.

I notice movement from the top of the tree. It was Susan and Lucy watching us from above. Lucy was giggling, Susan was smiling. Edmund noticed them and we both jumped far from each other, hoping none of them witnessed what just happened. It was too late though. They had already started giggling. I smiled at them.

Edmund let me go on the ladder first. He followed behind. Susan and Lucy were instructed by Peter to fetch Edmund and I. We all entered the tree house. It was cozy, mainly wood. Stumpton, Peter and Tigris were sitting at a small, round table, talking about the Island Princess.

The four of us join the group on the table.

"What's your plan, High King Peter?" asked Stumpton. I could never get used to the labels.

"Well," Peter said, "Are there any traces of the Island Princess?"

"None, your majesty." informed Tigris. "No one even knows what she looks like."

"It's either Aslan, or the Island Princess." said Peter. "We have to think of something. Aslan comes back and forth to Narnia. Should we just wait?"

Even though I didn't know who they were talking about, I thought of a solution.

"Peter, if I may-" I interrupted, "Maybe we should look for this Island Princess. You say Aslan comes back and forth from time to time. We don't know when the next arrival will be. "

"What do you propose we do?" asked Peter.

"We can look for her. If we wait for Aslan, goodness knows how long that will take" I explained.

Silence filled the room.

I started getting a little uncomfortable and awkward, I didn't get a reaction from anybody. "Excuse me." I said, leaving the room.

Edmund's POV:

Once Y/N left the room, everyone started to think about what she said.

"Maybe she's right," said Peter.

I know she's right.

Wait.

What am I saying?

Snap out of it.

"We should look for her" Peter continued.

"But where do we start, Peter?" said Susan. "We don't even know what she looks like."

"Caspian." said Lucy.

"What?" asked Peter.

"Prince Caspian and his Professor. Maybe they can help." Lucy continued.

Everyone thought for a moment, then nodded in agreement.

"A ship. We need a ship and a crew. Where are the rest of the Narnians, Stumpton?" asked Peter as he looks over at the dwarf.

"I could gather them up, your majesty." said the dwarf respectfully.

"Great," said Peter, "We leave tomorrow morning."

Your POV

I left the room and walked towards the little balcony outside the door. The view was magnificent. This all still didn't make sense, though I was very much convinced this wasn't a dream anymore. It was real life.

Suddenly, I heard a clash of something from my left side. I turned my head and saw a fallen tree. I look around and all the other trees still seem to be dancing. I decided to walk down the ladder to see what was going on.

The trees stop moving and make way for me. I see the fallen tree, lifeless and completely drained of color. What happened? I thought to myself as the other trees hover over me, curious of what happened to their friend. I checked the roots of the trees. They were frozen solid. The roots have been harshly cut from the ground by ice. The temperature must've been so cold, the roots became brittle and broke.

Five minutes after investigating, another tree fell. For the same reason as the last. And then another, then another, then another. All for the same reason: ice.

I sympathetically caress the tree. Even though I knew it was a tree, they still had life. I climb back up the ladder to tell the rest what I saw.

"Guys, you've got to see this!" I say as I burst the door open, almost breaking it into smithereens.

The gang rushes outside to check the commotion.

They gasp as they analyze their surroundings. Lucy was the most upset, she started tearing up. I walked over to her, caressing her back. "Hey hey, it's gonna be alright. These trees are going to be okay. I know it." I say in a reassuring voice. I hug Lucy, she hugs back tighter. Not knowing Edmund was looking at me from a distance. I fix her hair and we head down the ladder.

"Over here!" shouted Stumpton as he pointed at the first tree that fell.

It wasn't colorless like the others, it had moss and flowers growing all over the trunk. Something I didn't see while I was there. Then I remembered the roots. I went over to the bottom side of the tree.

"Ice. Look." I said kneeling down. They all went to my side. "It made the roots brittle, causing the roots to break." I explained.

"Who could possibly have the powers of ice?" thought Susan.

The air was silent for a brief moment.

Edmund who was leaning on a tree, walked over and said...

"The White Witch."
