《You're A Doll (COMPLETE)》3. Flutters

That was an amazing book. I am so sad it's over.
I looked at the time and saw I should get ready because I have to be at the club to meet them in like 35.
I had this one dress my dad got me to wear at a club before I moved here.
I sighed but went with it. I felt like a powerful queen or like mafia queen.
I pulled my curled hair into a ponytail and pulled at some strands. I put on highlighter and mascara with chapstick.
I wore black Vans with this because heels seem to be awful for clubs.
I grabbed my phone and keys, driving to the place.
-
I saw the group and the guys were smoking as I stepped out and the girls looked at me funny as Jessie just stared.
His jaw ticked a few times, cheekbones high, hair messy and his nose ring shining as he gazed over my body. I don't like when people do that it makes me self conscious.
I crossed my arms and legs as they just talked. I felt inferior in the group, always have, but they kept my along for god knows what reason.
Maybe because Stasia didn't actually mind me.
We got in with Rowan knowing the bouncer.
I sat at the bar and just ordered water while the rest of them danced.
"Sailor." A low voice beside me said and I looked, meeting the attractive man's eyes.
"Hey." I sipped my water.
"Did the books work out?" He asked. His eye contact was very intense.
"I really really appreciate it. The Perfect Chemistry was so good I finished it today." I nodded.
The corners of his lips turned.
"You seem out of place." He assumed.
"Meaning?" I asked.

"Like yoI don't wanna fit in or even be here." He said and I shrugged.
"I mean I don't get out often. But finding people who relate to me is hard nowadays." I was quiet and moved my body back to the counter, staring at the glass of water.
"Come on." He touched my arm and offered a hand.
I stood and the lights dimmed as music began blazing louder than before.
"I can't dance." I was nervous.
"I have no rhythm." He told me and I looked down to laugh as he pulled me to him.
"Just dance the music is good." He said in my ear and I nodded as a song began playing. People around us danced and jumped as I was able to guid my body with his, merely touching.
When the song ended, red filled my cheeks as he grabbed my hand.
"You're actually good." He pulled me from the crowd.
"I have bad second hand embarrassment issues." I laughed, rubbing my eyes.
"It's okay. Mind coming outside with me? I have another book. I swear I'm not trying to do anything." He said and I nodded.
I followed him to a nice car and he went inside, handing me a tissue paper wrapped book. Again.
"Is this like a thing now?" I asked as he gave it to me.
"Sure." He nodded, lighting a cigarette.
I opened it, he still wrote a note even though I was with him. I looked at the book and smiled.
A Thousand Boy Kisses Tillie Cole
"I love this book. I lost my first copy years ago." I touched the cover, remembering the heart wrenching feeling I felt after reading it years ago.
"Sorry I didn't know it was a repeat." He said and I shook my head.

"I was planing to buy another to reread it." I stared at the cover.
I opened the note and I laughed.
You're quite a pretty girl.
- Jessie Cross
"Thank you." I was blushing and he chuckled. I looked up seeing him smile for the first time tonight.
He had sharp dimples and a smirk that was a literal book boyfriend type of smirk.
"I hope you'd let me pay you back because these books cost a lot." I said and he shook his head, blowing smoke up into the sky.
"Don't worry about it doll. Illegal racing gives me benefits." He said and put out the cigarette, his arms now crossed.
"Thank you so much. It's very kind of you." I looked up at his 6'5 frame.
"Of course, maybe one day you can read a book to me and pique my interest." He winked and I shook my head, pushing framed hairs behind my ears from my ponytail.
"That'd be cool." I grinned.
"They're out and wasted as hell." Rowan walked over.
"We are never going out with them again." Owen said and I chuckled.
"Aren't they so fun?" I asked sarcastically.
"Har har." Rowan mocked and smiled at me.
"We will figure them out, get out while you can. Maybe see you soon Sailor." Owen said and I nodded.
"Go home and rest or read. Maybe I'll see you soon too." He said and I nodded.
"Those notes could end up quite handy." I teased.
"I believe they will be. Goodnight doll." He smirked and I walked to my car with the book and the note.

The Core of a Factory
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago. This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core". Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.
