You follow the cobblestone path through your sister's front yard and step up onto her porch. You kick the bottom of her front door a couple of times because your hands are too full to knock properly. Ana swings the door open and you're instantly hit with the smell of fresh baked muffins.
"You know you can just walk in, right?" she asks you, turning on her heels and making her way back to the kitchen.
"My hands are kind of full, idiot. I couldn't really open the door," you complain, kicking the door closed behind you. You stop at the kitchen island, setting down a couple grocery bags and freeing up your hands. You pull the blanket you brought off your shoulders and throw it on the back of the living room couch.
"Where's Roy?" you ask Ana about the whereabouts of her husband.
"I sent him to go pick up breakfast burritos from that place by the beach," she answers as she pulls a muffin tin out of the oven.
"Ooo, Tammy's? Those are the best. I don't think I've had one since high school."
"Yeah, that's because you ate one almost every day. You probably reached your breakfast burrito limit."
"Blasphemy. No such thing as too many breakfast burritos. Tammy's just isn't near my commute anymore."
Ana puts on some music as she finishes setting the muffins out on the island. You empty out your bags, pulling out hot chocolate mix and peppermint schnapps. It is tradition to mix the two together for your favorite lazy Sunday movie days. The other bag is full of your favorite candy and some homemade guacamole and tortilla chips. You take inventory of everything on the counter and realize you're missing something.
"Excuse me, where's the orange juice?" You see the champagne, but not the other half of the mimosa ingredients. "Is Melissa bringing it?"
"Yup, she should be here any minute with Evan," Ana fills you in on the whereabouts of your cousin and her husband.
"Is that everyone or are there any newcomers?" you ask. Your sister hosts her Sunday movie days at least once a month and there's always a mixed crowd. The five of you are always consistent, but sometimes one of you brings a friend or two.
"Yeah, actually Roy invited one of his friends from college. His name is Matthew."
"That sounds familiar. Have I met him before?"
"No, I don't thinks so. He just moved to the area and he's been around a couple times. I think you'll like him." Your conversation is interrupted by the front door opening and Roy walking in with a big paper bag in his arms.
"Roy, you sweet sweet angel from heaven above," you walk up to your brother in law and give him a kiss on the cheek as you sneakily slide the bag from his hands. You are too busy searching for one labeled "bacon" that you barely noticed the man ducking through the doorway behind him.
"Y/N, this is Matthew," Roy introduces you before you get the chance to ask. Matthew gives you a wave and a tentative smile.
"Hey there, Matthew. Ana was just telling me all about you," you give him a grin.
"Good things I hope," he remarks with a bit of a chuckle, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"Nah, just the absolutely horrible stuff," you tease.
"Well that works out perfect because Roy was telling me how you're a pro at committing tax fraud," he bites back. You can't help but laugh and shove Roy on the shoulder, nearly knocking the muffin out of his hand.

"Damnit Roy, that was between you and me!" Ana gives her husband a knowing look as he rolls his eyes back at her.
"What can I help with?" Matthew asks, rubbing his hands together.
"I think we're all set here, just waiting on Melissa and Evan. Why don't you and Y/N go pick out our first movie before they get here," Ana offers.
"Hell yeah we can. Follow me, stranger," you motion for Matthew to follow you towards the living room around the corner. You plop down in the middle of the sectional and pat the spot next to you.
"So what do you have in mind?" he asks taking the seat.
"I'm not sure yet, but we do have to pick quick. Once Melissa gets here all bets are off," you explain, grabbing the remote and turning the tv on.
"And why is that?"
"Oh, she always drags us into watching some horrible hallmark movie."
"Is that so bad?"
"Cheesy Christmas movies in July are, yes."
"Fair enough," Matthew leans back, throwing his arm on the back of the couch. You scroll through some of their streaming channels.
"Any suggestions?" you ask.
"I'm not to picky to be honest."
"Well, we normally pick a series or a common theme or something."
"Example?"
"Mamma Mia, Twilight, Fast and Furious, Disney channel originals."
"That's quite the lineup."
"Hey, I didn't say they were good," you laugh. "Lazy Sundays are not about incredible filmmaking, they're about being lazy. Maybe we'll step it up a bit today. I'm feeling comedy." You keep scrolling until an idea pops into your head and you start filling in the search bar on the tv.
"Wes Anderson," he reads off the screen. "I like where this is going."
"Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom, Life Aquatic," you list off some of the titles on the screen. "I haven't seen that one. Why don't we start with Life Aquatic?" You hear a groan from beside you and you turn your head to see Matthew dragging a hand over his face. "Hey, I thought you said you liked Wes Anderson."
"Yeah, I love him, it's not that," he only half explains.
"Then what is it, Roy's-friend-from-college," you ask nudging him.
"Iminute," he mumbles.
"What?" you ask, not being able to make out his words.
"I'm in it," he speaks up, looking at you with his face scrunched up in embarrassment.
"What do you mean you're in it?"
"I mean that I'm in the film."
"You've got to be kidding me. Who the hell are you?"
"Um, I'm Matthew? I'm an actor and this was my very first role. You really don't need to watch it while your sitting next to me."
"Oh no no no way, mister. More like you don't want to watch it and that's even more of a reason TO watch it. When will I ever get this great of an opportunity again?"
"I know I'm a newbie and all, but this hazing is next level."
"Oh, this is not hazing. Hazing would be making this a Matthew whatever-your-last-name-is movie marathon. And if it was your first role your character isn't that big anyway, right?"
"I mean yeah, it's not a huge part, but I'm fresh out of college. I haven't watched it since I was in my twenties, let alone with people I'm meeting for the first time."
"Don't be so whiney, it's been decided."

Ana, Roy, Melissa, and Evan walk into the living room with a tray of mimosas and another one of food. The two of you must have been so busy bickering that you didn't even notice Melissa and Evan arrive. Ana passes you and Matthew a mimosa each and Roy tosses you the bacon breakfast burrito you were looking for earlier. You blow him a kiss as a thank you and he just rolls his eyes again.
"Matthew, this is our cousin Melissa and her husband Evan. Guys this is Matthew," Ana introduces. He gives them the same shy wave he gave you not too long ago. "Did you guys pick a movie?"
"Oh we sure did! We're doing Wes Anderson today," you answer, giving Matthew a sly smirk.
"I love him! Royal Tenenbaums is one of my all time favorites," Melissa says.
"Well, you're all in for a treat!" You press play on the remote and snuggle into the couch, grabbing the blanket you brought. You spread it over your legs and sip your mimosa. The opening credits start to roll and you notice Matthew down almost all of his mimosa in one go. You can't help but giggle under your breath and Matthew pokes you in the side. He steals the burrito off your lap, unwrapping it and taking a huge, angry bite. You let him have it, grabbing a new one off the coffee table. It's the least you can do for putting him through this. You feel a little bad, but not really at all. He seems like a good sport.
You get through the first bit of the movie when Matthew makes his first appearance.
"No fucking way," you whisper. "Your hair!"
"What do you mean your hair?" Ana asks, giving you a questioning look. "Holy shit, you mean his hair!"
"Matthew is that you?" Evan asks, catching on.
"Hell yeah, that's him!" you confirm.
"Does anyone want another mimosa?" Matthew asks, getting up from the couch.
"Where are you going? You're missing the film!" Roy teases.
"Oh, I know what happens don't worry. I'll just bring the whole bottle." Matthew goes into the kitchen and comes back out with a massive bottle of champagne and a carton of orange juice. He takes his seat on the couch and hands you his empty glass. He pours himself a strong mimosa and tops yours off. "Any one else?" he offers. Everyone else's glass is still pretty full so he sets the bottles on the coffee table with the rest of the food.
You all pick on Matthew a bit whenever he shows up on the screen. You find yourself teasing him the most as you refill your drink for the third time. He seems to be keeping up with you in the drink department and he starts to throw some taunts back at you. By the time the credits are rolling the two of you are full on arguing.
"Okay guys, knock it off," Ana butts in. "How about some more food with your alcohol brunch?" Ana, Roy, Melissa, and Evan all trail off towards the kitchen. Matthew pushes himself up off of the couch and you follow his lead, but you don't quite make it all of the way, falling back onto the cushions.
"Jesus, it's true. You really can't tell how much you've had to drink until you stand up," you laugh.
"Don't you mean try to stand up?" Matthew offers you a hand and you grab it. He yanks you up off the couch and you can't help but stumble again, crashing into his chest. All you can do is giggle and give him a couple pats to the cheek as you grab his hand and pull him towards the kitchen. Damn, the liquid courage is really doing the trick. You let go of his hand so your sister doesn't make any assumptions, not that you'd really mind what she'd be assuming.
The six of you stand around chatting and eating as you try to decide what movie to watch next. As hard as you try to get it out of him, Matthew refuses to tell you any of the other movies he's been in. While you're trying to peer pressure him, the rest of the group decides on Moonrise Kingdom to continue your Wes Anderson marathon. Everybody grabs a fresh drink and some extra snacks and candy as you make your way back to the living room.
You get comfortable in your seats again as Ana starts the movie. You snuggle back under your blanket and steal a fistful of popcorn out of the bowl on Matthew's lap. He scoots closer to you so you can have better access to the bowl and you throw some of your blanket his way. You finish the popcorn as the movie progresses and Matthew places the empty bowl on the coffee table. He props his feet up next to it and throws his arm across the back of the couch. You tuck your feet under you, inadvertently leaning towards him. Matthew slides his arm down onto your shoulders and you take his lead and press into his side. The movie is more than halfway through when you find yourself dozing off with your head on Matthew's shoulder. Next thing you know, you're out like a light.
Matthew can't help but notice the change in your breathing. He cranes his neck to check if you're asleep without disturbing your place on his shoulder. Not to his surprise, your eyes are shut and your lips are parted just a bit, your breathing steady and even. Damn, this girl is beautiful. Not to mention witty and funny and smart. He's trying to come up with the best way to ask for your number before both of you have to leave later. Matthew finds your methodic breathing soothing and rests his head on top of yours, slowly falling asleep right along with you.
You feel a pressure on the top of your head as you slowly open your eyes, not even realizing you had fallen asleep. You are tucked into Matthew's side and his arm is wrapped around your waist. Your head is nuzzled into his neck and his cheek rests on top of your hair. His breath is even and you try your best not to move so you don't wake him up. You notice the TV screen is black and the sun is setting through the windows. You hear the faint noise of talking coming from the kitchen and you realize you are the only two left in the living room.
You make your smoothest attempt to slide out from under Matthew's hold, but you're unsuccessful. He squirms a bit and lets out a low groan as he picks his head up. He rubs his eyes open with his free hand and gives you a small squeeze with the other.
"Shit, sorry," you whisper, apologizing for waking him up.
"No, you're good," Matthew groggily forgives. "What time is it?"
"I don't know. It's almost dark out."
"Where is everybody?" he asks, noticing it's just the two of you on the couch.
"Kitchen I think," you answer, making a move to get off the couch. "Any more questions?"
"Yeah actually, one more." Matthew gently reaches for your hand. "Can I get your number?"
"You sure can," you can't help but smile. Now this was a movie day for the books.

The Trespasser
Synopsis Following his di—instincts, David finds himself in a weird situation; the next thing he knows, he's in a different world, dying, and manhandled by a big-ass alien. When the Source comes to his aid, granting him the access that—like every other sapient—he's due, David barely manages to get out of the fight with his life intact, but is that enough? Of course it isn't. The very Source giving him powers is also poisoning him to death. Oh, there she is, the petite female alien. Will that be enough to save him? Of course it won't. If he wants to be saved, he has first to save himself. The only way to do so is by getting to know the world around him, but even before that... Why the bloody hell did I have to be called Deviant!? *** Blurb? Blurb. The Trespasser starts slowly, I believe I've written a decent world, and I want you to find out what it's all about, won't just throw it in your face because of *levels*. I do not like stories that don't make sense. David is not a murderhobo, he respects life and answers to the world and the weird situations thrown at him with irony and sarcasm; so you are looking for easy killing streaks, you will not find them here. So, a man finds himself into the wild? It's a different world, and yet he can breathe its air? Finds himself in a lucky-low-level zone? Oh, look at that, people speak English—how likely is that? So, nope, not for me, gentleman. You won't find anything of the likes here. Again, a man finds himself in a new world but only thinks about the system? Yeah, that's not exactly how it works. David will try to find out what it's really all about, what the aliens want, how they work, why is that Fay really helping him? You can kill somebody to get levels, and yet there is not even a form of police? Not gonna happen here. Man becomes suddenly overpowered in a world where people can live for thousands of years by having enough luck to face only lower-level people? Hahaha—nope. Lastly...Spaceships and fantasy with LitRPG... say what!? Well, what's wrong with that? Let's make it happen, shall we? *** You want even more info? Really? Alright... David will start from the very bottom of the food chain, so there will be a settling arc—it's inevitable. David will find true companions, with personalities and backstories, and they will have a life of their own. There will be enemies, and those enemies will have a life of their own, too; there will be no evil just because. The world-building will have true depth; it will not exist just because the protagonist visits it. There will be both Fantasy and (Soft) Sci-fi—yeah, you heard that right. There will be rationality to every action taken, as long as the characters are aware of what is going on. There will be a godly system. You will come to read because of the world-building, but you will stay for the characters. The dead stay dead, and you will weep for them. There will be no action without a reaction. Lastly, there will be laughs. Are you still up for it? Then get in but fasten your seatbelts because it's going to be a wild ride. *** Release Days: Twice a week Release Time: ~09:00 PM UTC Words per chapter: ~3000 This web novel is also available on other platforms.
