《Two Existentialists | S.R.》54

Everyone was under the impression you were still in the hospital, except for the BAU of course.
It had been decided that Spencer wouldn't leave your side until James and his minion were caught. So he spent every moment of the day with you. He would drop you off at lab and wait in your office until you were done, you would go to the bureau with him, and you would sit in on his class, wearing a disguise in case James or his crony came.
On the fifth day of this plan, you were getting frustrated. Spencer was so kind and loving but you knew he hated missing work. And you hated that it was your fault. You would tell him to go to the bureau while you were in lab, no one other than the 3 members of your lab could get on your floor anyway. But, he refused.
It was Thursday, which meant it was the second day of Spencer's class. You put your hair into a bun and stuck it under a baseball cap, sitting down in the middle left of the room. He smiled at your direction before setting up for his lecture. You watched him carefully, focusing on his movements. You pulled out your phone and grinned.
Y/N: Professor Reid, what I would do to be those pieces of paper right now.
You watch him lift his phone and cough, shifting in place. He pinched the bridge of his nose, shaking his head.
Spencer: Stop before I cancel class and take you to my office
You bit you lip, blushing.
Y/N: no need to cancel class. There's always after.
Spencer rubbed the back of his neck, looking up at you with dark eyes.** You smiled before cracking open a book. You loved when he taught, but hearing about serial killers was not something you were interested in with everything going on. A few minutes later, he started class.

You shook your head at all the girls that were auditing the class. A few more weeks and Spencer would have a wedding ring. Those poor girls, their hearts would break.
A girl slid into the seat next to you, smiling. You kept your head down, eyes focused on the book. "He's cute isn't he?" she asked, making you roll your eyes.
"Uh sure, I guess. Not my type I suppose," you said in a low voice.
"Oh, well, more eye candy for me. I'm Miranda."
"I'm Emily," you whispered back, saying the first name that came to mind, adjusting your glasses.
"Nice to meet you. A lot of the girls in this class are really mean. I'm actually here for the FBI internship. I'm one of two girls in the program. There were 3 of us but one left two weeks ago, kind of abruptly."
"Abruptly?" You asked, her comment peaking your interest. "Who?"
"Her name was Rachel. She was really smart, but she dropped the program. No one know why."
"Huh. Interesting," you muttered, going back to your book. It wasn't possible. Right? There was no way. Sure she thought Spencer was cute but she wasn't that insane? Right?
Spencer watched you carefully, as you talked to Miranda. You tapped the front of your hat twice, signaling you were fine. He was always far too worried.
45 minutes later, Spencer concluded class, reminding everyone of the exam the next week. You smiled at him as he picked up all his papers, standing up and leaning against the wall.
Miranda walked up to him, asking him about something. He explained the concept, his hands twiddling together as he did so. Miranda smiled and touched his hand, before waving and waking away. You raised an eyebrow at Spencer who had a frown on his face.

As soon as she lecture hall emptied, you walked up to the podium and laced your hand with his, planting a quick kiss on his lips. "You ok?"
"That girl, she said something strange before she left."
"Hmm?"
"She said: 'how would you identify the gender of a stalker? What are the tells of women?' That's a bit strange, is it not?"
You also frowned, nodding. "Spencer, did a girl named Rachel ever take this class. Not audit but actually enroll?"
"No, there was no Rachel in the program. Why?"
"Let's go to your office and talk about it?" You whispered, seeing a flash of black hair outside the lecture hall door. Spencer nodded, holding your hand tightly as you left the room.
You could see Miranda in your peripheral. But, you wouldn't let her know that. You smiled and leaned into Spencer's side. He guided you to his office, locking the door behind you. "Everything ok?" he asked, turning towards you.
You nodded and wrapped your arms around his neck, leaning up and kissing him softly. You pulled away, your face inches from his. "Remember that time we were almost late for family dinner?"
Spencer nodded, holding your waist.
"Well, it appears we might be late again. Except, this time, the movie after dinner isn't Harry Potter."
"No?" Spencer asked, a gentle smile taking residence on his face.
"No, I think it's either Batman or a retelling of King Arthur. How do we feel about that?"
"Yeah, I think those are good options."
You nodded, kissing him again. "We should get going, we have to pack. And, the drive to my parents will take 8 hours or so."
"Will you hold my hand?" He asked.
"Of course I will Spence," you replied, picking up your coat and opening the door, making your way to the car.

There is loyalty but there is betrayal too. This is not related to my other trilogy. The families featured in this book are different. This is a standalone book. Cover by @aresrising
