《Two Existentialists | S.R.》40

You slept in Spencer's arms, smiling when he woke you up with kisses. You couldn't wait to leave the hospital. The nurse came in and smiled at you. "Alright Miss Y/N, you're all set to go after the OBGYN comes in to talk to you."
"OBGYN?" You asked, sitting up. Spence held your waist gently, looking worried.
"Hello, I'm Dr. Gibson," a nice brunette woman said as she entered. "Would you like to speak alone?"
"No, no, he can stay," you muttered. Spencer rubbed your back softly.
"Miss Y/N, due to your stress, you suffered a miscarriage," she said gently. You looked at Spencer, tears welling in your eyes.
"I was pregnant? I didn't know I was pregnant," you asked, looking between the doctor and Spencer.
"You were six weeks along. Had you not come in for your other injuries, you would have never known. But, it's my duty to inform you. I'm so sorry," she said, smiling politely. You nodded.
"Thank you," you muttered, closing your eyes. As soon as she left you began to cry, holding your head between your knees.
"I'm so sorry pretty girl," Spencer soothed, pulling you close. You jerked away from him, shaking your head.
"Don't touch me, you must hate me," you whispered.
"Baby, it's not your fault," he said, pulling you into his lap. "I'm just glad you're safe and sound and back to me."
"But Spencer, I was pregnant," you said quietly, fidgeting under his touch.
"I know Y/N. But you didn't do anything wrong. This was not your fault and I won't let you blame yourself," he said kindly, tilting your chin to look into your eyes.
"You still want to be with me?" You asked, meeting his glassy eyes.
"What kind of silly question is that? You're the love of my life, my future, my fairytale ending. I would never, ever, leave you," Spencer said reassuringly, running his fingers through your hair. You melted into him, sobbing. "Let's go home baby, you deserve a nice bath."
"Spence, you're not mad at me right?"
"Pretty girl, I promise I'm not mad. You didn't do anything wrong," he said softly, kissing your head.

"Let's go home," you muttered, getting up.
As soon as you got home, you disappeared into Spencer's bedroom and hid under the covers. You waited for Spencer to come and check on you but he didn't. And, you fell asleep at some point, exhausted from the tears and the pain.
Spencer didn't want to bother you so he stayed out for the entire day. He came home and slipped under the covers, reaching for you. "Spence? You're back?" you asked, waking up.
"Yeah. Come here," he whispered, his voice low. You scurried into his arms, your tears stopping momentarily.
"I missed you."
"I wanted to give you some space," he said simply.
"Don't," you muttered. "Don't leave me. Don't ever leave me."
"I won't," Spencer muttered, kissing your forehead.
"Spence?" you asked gently.
"Hmmmm?"
"You do want kids right?"
"With you, yes," he answered plainly. "Why?"
"This may seem silly but you just seemed so calm earlier. I thought it was maybe because you didn't want kids and this way, you got a free pass," you whispered, wrapping your arms around him. "I know it's stupid to think, I'm sorry."
"Y/N, stop apologizing. I just reacted like that because I wanted to be strong for you. I'd love to have a little you running around. And I can't wait until there is one. But, it just wasn't our time," he whispered, his voice cracking. You looked up at him, wiping away a tear.
"Where have you been all day?" You asked softly, smelling alcohol on his breath.
"I went to a bar. I needed to get my mind off of everything. And then I called JJ. She's my best friend on the team and I just needed to talk through my feelings. She told me to let you know she's there for you if you need someone to reach out to. She went through something similar when she was working for the pentagon. We need to talk about something else too. JJ said I should probably tell you," he said. You sat up, leaning against the headboard.
"What's wrong?" You asked softly, playing with his hand.

"I didn't mean now," he snapped pulling his hand from yours, making your eyes widen. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry that was uncalled for," he apologized. You sighed and stood up.
"Look Spencer, I know you're hurting. But so am I. I have been through hell in the last 48 hours and instead of being helpful, you're making it worse," you said, throwing on one of his cardigans.
"Y/N," he whined. "Come back to bed."
"No, I think I'll go stay with Lola or Nate for the night," you said, picking up your wallet and walking out. Spencer followed you, arguing.
"Y/N, stop this."
"Stop what? You came home smelling like a liquor store and are acting cruelly"
"Come back to bed," he yelled, making you blink rapidly, your hand on the doorknob of the front door.
"Spencer, when you realize that I also have feelings, then we'll talk. I just hope you come to that realization sooner rather than later," you lectured, walking out of the house. The moment you got into the car you broke down in tears.
Twenty minutes later, you pulled up to Nate's apartment, sobbing in his arms as soon as he opened the door. He kissed your head and guided you to his room, setting you down on the bed. "Y/N, what's wrong? What happened?"
"Spencer," you croaked out between sobs.
"What did he do? What happened?"
"He, he, we, I was pregnant. But I lost it."
Nate frowned, hugging you tightly. "Did he get mad?"
"No, he wasn't mad. He was so supportive, so sweet."
"Then what made you show up here in tears?"
"After we got home from the hospital he left and went out drinking. I was at home mourning and he was drowning himself in alcohol at 2pm."
"Y/N, I love you. But Spencer also suffered a loss. He probably doesn't know how to handle it."
"Are you defending him?" You asked, looking up. Nate shook his head.
"No. Never. I'm just saying he's hurting too. How about you stay here tonight and then talk to him in the morning?"
You nodded, sinking into Nate's bed. He pulled the comforter up around you and kissed your forehead, walking out of the room. You fell asleep, only to be awoken to banging on the front door. You crept out of bed, opening Nate's bedroom door to see Nate crossing his arms and blocking Spencer from entering the apartment.
"Let me in Nate, I need to see her."
"Spencer, you're acting irrationally. Give her some space. Come back in the morning when your blood alcohol level is below the legal driving limit."
"How dare you!" Spencer yelled. You flinched, not being used to him screaming.
"Do not make me call the police on you Spencer. You may be FBI, but this is a private residence. Now go, drink some water and sober up. Let Y/N sleep."
"Nate, you don't understand. I snapped at her. I never snap at her," Spencer said softly, crying lightly. **
"Neither of you is in a good head space right now. You just need some space. I'll take care of her for the night, I already called Lola to come spend the night here so we can take turns watching over her. It's ok, Spencer. Shes being taken care of. Now go figure yourself out. Take care of yourself or else you can't take care of her. And she needs you right now."
Spencer frowned, not budging. "Spencer, go home, you said, stepping into his frame of view.
"Baby," he whispered. "I love you, I'm sorry."
"Go. Home." You ordered. Spencer sighed and nodded. He went to leave, turning to see you wrapping your arms around Nate, sobbing.
"Nate, I literally cannot sleep without him," you said in tears. "I don't know what I'll do if it's over."
"Shhhh, you two are solid. One little fight won't break you two. Now, get some sleep," he said, pushing you gently towards his room. You nodded. "I'm taking the couch," he added, kissing your forehead.
"Nate, thank you."
"What are best friends for?"
