《OUTSIDERS || MAKI ZENIN.》I had fun

hey guys! here's a cute chap
He stopped in the front door of the occupied bathroom, he knocks at it slightly.
"Hey, Maki, I got you a spare windbreaker here if you want. It's going to be a bit chilly today."
Instead of an answer from the inside, she opens the door and reveals the light coming from the room. Her figure appears and he looks with sudden awe at her look.
She had her hair straight down without glasses in sight. She looked like she was just getting ready and looks down at the purple and black windbreaker before taking it out of his loose hands.
'She's pretty'
"Uh, earth to moron?" He blinks his eyes at her before blushing, realizing he had stood looking at her blankly at a full minute.
"I said thank you, but you're just staring at me with oogly eyes." She furrows a brow and he starts waving his hands in defense,
"H-Hey, sorry! I don't know what came over me!" He frantically explained but she just didn't say anything and walked back in the bathroom to finish dressing up.
He let out a relieved sigh before walking pass the door.
The rain died down after drowning the city for hours last night. There was a big flood and the city still had water occupying the streets, but the levels fortunately are shallow. It was still chilly and the sun briefly showed itself before hiding in the clouds again.
Tamaki enjoyed this type of weather. Though for so many people, raining means to stay inside their homes all day. He treated it as if it was any other day.
He loved to dip and kick his rain boots into the water, splashing it everywhere like a little kid would.
He gave Maki a spare windbreaker he wore. It was pretty big and went down to her knees, but she smiled, not really minding it as it warmed her up quickly than her light sweater she wore for days on the streets.
She puts her hands in her pockets as Tamaki locks the door before they depart. Suki, watches out from the inside in despair. She wanted to go with the two but Tamaki raised a finger, urging her to wait until they came back.
"Where exactly are we going again?" She asked.
He turns his back, looking at her,
"Well, sorcerer, since you've been telling me a lot about the world of curses and jujutsu, it's only fair I get to show off my world too! You say you never been here in Tokyo, right?"
"To be honest, I never stepped into this city up until a week ago." She says, rubbing the back of her head. "It's kinda hard to navigate a place like this.."
"Well that's why I'm your tour guide!" He chimes at her and she looks taken aback by the nice gesture coming from him.
She stops for a bit, wondering why a stranger like him would want to help or befriend a girl like her?
But then again, she did save his life. And he would try to do anything to help the one who saved his life.
Before Tamaki can step in the water, Maki yanks him by the collar before he can sink his boots into them.
He looks at her and sees that she's fuming to herself as she stares at her feet.
'That's right.'
He didn't have spare boots for the girl and he took notice the girl refused to damage her converse any more. It looked like it was the only pair of shoes she had.

They look at the slight flood and it only appeared to be on the road and not on the sidewalks.
"Maybe you can hop over it?" He asked and she gives him a deadpan stare. The gap was pretty far.
She then scoffs before smirking,
"Heh, looks like you gotta carry me. If you can." She was merely joking but then her eyes shot open when the boy suddenly carries her on his back.
Her hands dangled on the side of his neck as she stays tight on him.
"Hey wait, I was just kidding!"
"Well, this is the only way, right?" She stops squirming in her spot and then huffs out,
"Yeah you're probably right." She snickers right after. She rests her head next to his, the side of their cheeks briefly touching each other.
She whispers in his ear,
"Say you're pretty strong for someone who screamed like a little girl two nights ago~"
His face turns hot red and he lets out an sheepish whine,
"S-Shut up! Gee, I almost died back there in case you don't recall.."
"I do recall, especiallyyy cause I was the one who saved your ass."
He changes the subject with a serious shift,
"I know I've said it for the hundredth time, but thank you, Maki. I-It really means a-lot and words can't express my gratitude."
"I guess that's also why I want to take you out and stuff. I know it's not much, but actions speak better than words. And I rather treat you out than say 'thank you' so many times until you're sick of it."
"Yeah, you got a point." She grins. "And if it means you'll always get to treat me out,
Then I guess I'll have to rescue you more often."
He smiles from her words. His shoulder relaxed a bit and he remains silent with a faint flush on his cheeks.
He holds her for awhile until she finally breaks the silence,
"You can let me go now."
"Oh, right."
Maki watched as her friendly tour guide showed off where he lived. He pointed out the school he attended which was literally five blocks away from his house.
"You like school?" She asked, trying to make conversation with him but he simply responds with a groan.
"Oh, I hateee school."
"Oh, so you're a punk?" She instantly thought. And she doesn't like punks.
"No, you'd be surprised!" He suddenly went on his phone and pulled up the report card he got this month. He shows off the screen, illuminating a page that had straight A's categorized in each school subject.
"Damn Hatsumi, I had no idea you were a smart ass."
"Yeah but when you have so much spare time, you can't help but study." He says with a shrug, stuffing the phone back to his pocket.
"But anyways, I don't plan on going to college or anything like that. Like, why would I spend money on pursuing a major that won't get me a job or one that I have no passion for?"
"So, what do you wanna do?" Maki asked with genuine curious.
"I most definitely do not want to be stuck in a cubicle forever. I want to make change before I die but none of the things I study interest me.." He looks at Maki,
"Maybe if becoming a sorcerer like you were an option, I'd gladly do it!" He says, pretending he's equipped with an imaginary sword or spirit gun.

"I mean, it must really be fun to be one! And you guys are saving people,
It's almost like you're heroes!"
'Poor Tamaki' Maki thinks.
He really doesn't know what he's talking about. She frowns and thinks of how her family has treated her since she left. They're making it so hard that they cut the opportunity of letting her reside in the dorms prior to starting her first year. The way they're so corrupted and cruel to users who don't wield curse energy like her.
That's why she's here in Tokyo, like a vagrant seeking shelter but for a temporary moment. She only needs a few weeks till she can finally move into Jujutsu High.
"Let's continue walking.."
Tamaki shows off his world to Maki and she's amazed by the all the sight-seeing spots that are so close to one another. The temples and museums are breath taking and so are the parks.
But the most favorite spot Tamaki enjoys the most was Harajuku town. He used to go with his family a-lot to explore the vintage fashion and treat themselves delicious crepes.
Maki is not a person known to get super excited too easily, but the delicious sight of crepes up on display got her pressed against the window with Tamaki, who does the same.
"They all look so good.." She nearly drools and the boy looks at her with a chuckle.
"Oh yeah, they're soo good! And get this, they have one with a cheesecake stuffed in a crepe!"He licks his lips at that and Maki looks at him for a bit, mouth slightly agape.
"Stuffed cheesecake..huh, thats a bit weird.."
"..."
"Let's try it!"
The two later exit out of the crepe shop with similar crepes of stuffed cheesecake. Tamaki smiles when the girl gingerly licks her lips before taking her bite into this. She looks at the food, then at Tamaki, then the food again.
"This is the motherlode.." She gasped out. She started to move her hands out, exasperated motions left and right.
"How the hell did I miss this?!" She shouts at herself in a bit of annoyance. She hates the fact that she was cooped up at her family's household. Because it meant she had to miss even the smallest pleasures in life.
Tamaki tries to predict if that's the reason why she left her family. She refused to say anything as to why she abandoned her home and was roaming here in Tokyo. But regardless, he wanted to do whatever he can to make his savior safe and happy.
The two wandered around in so many stores and through the mall. There, they encountered a vintage shop with ridiculous amount of nice shoes.
"Hey, what'd you think of this?" He points at the display behind the glass window. Maki leans in and sees a pair of well-designed black, doc martens. They look sturdy and perfect, something that she really needs.
"They definitely look like your type.."
"That's because it is." She smiles and thinks the boots would suit her well.
She find herself entering the shop and he follows and goes inside the vintage, fashion store. Maki wanted a pair of combat boots and hey, they'd be a lot helpful in the following weeks to come.
"Hi guys, are you finding anything in particular?" The saleswoman asked.
"You guys have a size 6 1/2?" She asked the woman while holding one of the boots in her hand. The girl grabs it from her, and goes to see if they had any in stock. Tamaki sits on the other side of her until the woman comes back with a shoebox.
"We don't have 6 1/2 but would you like to try 7?"
"Yeah, let's try it." She mumbles before grabbing it and trying the shoes on. She puts on the leather boots and likes the comfort of it. It felt nice and warm compared to her messed up sneakers.
She gets up and shuffles her feet a bit and Tamaki lets out a 'woah' at the sight of her wearing them,
"Dang Maki, they look good!" He chimes and she grins,
"Daymn right, they look good." She says, circling around him to test out the shoes. "Oh god, I dig these shoes.."
"How much is it?" He asked and she checks the tag price. Her mouth drops to the floor,
"180?!" She gasped out. She knows she doesn't have money but she still checks her wallet to see if she had anything. She desperately wanted them.
She opens her worn, brown wallet and it lets out a 'poof' of dust. No money in sight except for spare change and a dollar.
She drops her shoulders and look down,
"Fuuuckk." She found herself to be dumb because it was so obvious that all that money she had left was for her weapon and nothing more.
She lets out a sigh of defeat and puts the shoes in the box. Before she raises her hand for the saleswoman to come over, Tamaki grabs her wrist and pulls it down.
She looks confused.
"I'll buy them for you."
They go wide,
"What the-but they're so expensive."
"I mean, I got some allowance money that can cover it all." He shrugs, "Plus, do you really want to continue walking around with those sneakers?"
She blushed, a bit embraced by its sight. She looks at the shoes then at him,
"Gosh, you really simping for me , huh?"
"W-What?!" Tamaki goes red. "W-Who says I'm simping for you?"
"No sane person would buy 180 dollar shoes for me!" She argues with a pout. "That never happens."
"Maki, I'm just trying to help you!" He exclaims, trying to then shush his voice down.
"Is it so wrong to want to help someone like you? I mean, shoes are a basic necessity."
In a sense, yes. She was never cared for and constantly neglected by her family. So, for someone she only met two nights ago, it's almost insane that he's open to buying her a luxurious gift.
He rubs the back of his head,
"Plus, if you feel really bad about it, you can always pay me back. But I really don't want the money from the one who helped in the first place...so please, let me do this."
"You can really just buy me cheap shoes somewhere else.." She mutters.
"But you don't want that, do you?" He says and she gets flustered out of embarrassment again. He doesn't let her take the shoes off and instead of putting the boots back in the box, he puts her grimy ones in there.
"Ma'm." He calls to the employee with the box in hands, "I'll be paying for them."
He goes to the front counter, leaving Maki sitting there by herself. She felt bad.
'Thank you, Hatsumi, but you really shouldn't have..'
She grew more bad the more they went out and the more he suggested her to get a souvenir or a favorable snack she was eyeing.
He was going to the lengths of making her nurtured and overall happy, but she felt she didn't deserve it.
does she?
Her heart beats whenever he gives that one reassuring, warm smile that creeps on his lips. He gives off a soft aura and whenever they bump shoulders, her heart slightly jumps at it.
She tries not to visibly show it and hide it through her stoicism, but every once in awhile, she smiled so small when he gets overexcited over the arcade or the Gudetama merch.
She calls him a 'nerd' but when sees two kids duking it out at a capcom vs marvel game, she can't help but challenge him to several matches.
She's glued onto the screen, smashing her red buttons down as she fights Tamaki in their battle. She eyes him every once in awhile and she sees him struggle, as he grabbed onto the nearest joy con and forcing his player to jump away from her attacks.
She was new at this but she was smart to catch onto the gimmick of the game. She smiles deviously when she wins for the second time. He wins the third, finally, and he puts his arms up in celebration.
He cheers and she crosses her arms,
"I was going easy on you."
"Haha, yeah fuckin right! I have the high ground now." He laughs at his own reference and she watches him do so quietly. She can tell he was having a blast. The most fun he's had in a long time. The same goes for you.
That smile is one ray of sunshine. A sunrise so beautiful that should never go down and stay bright as always.
"Let's take a photo to commemorate this!" He suggested and her eyes perk up. She doesn't know how to react after she agreed to it. She grows flustered, but in a different way. Her stoic face melted into a shy, bashful feeling. She'e never been that way up until he wraps an arm around her so they can squeeze into the frame. The arcade lights flashing behind them.
He puts a peace sign up,
"Cheese!"
"Cheese?" She asked but right when she did, the photo is taken. It shows off Tamaki smiling with that peace sign and a Maki, with pink cheeks looking up at the boy with her mouth agape, as if she's talking.
He looks at it,
"This'll do."
"Wait, I probably look bad in that!" She protests, trying to grab the phone away from his hands. "Let's take another!"
And so they did
Maki feels bad once more when he buys food for the two before leaving. They had a productive day out there that they did not have time to have an actual meal. Their diet was completely off balance but luckily the would have a light, shoyu ramen that wouldn't hurt their stomachs all too much.
