《HEIWA ─ Inumaki T.》11 | Meiji

Only a few hours has passed since Geto Suguru's attack.
You laid on your bed, eyes on the ceiling above. A lot has been on your mind ever since things calmed down.
Would Kamei be alright on her own? Should you tell her mother about what's about to happen in Kyoto? How's Geto going to execute his plan? So many questions, which you already have answers to, yet you can't bring yourself to actually tell your cousin and her mother.
Geto's kind of dumb for revealing it so soon.. At least Gojo and other sorcerers can prepare but defeating a hundred curses is easier said than done. What grade are those curses? Abilities?
You doubt anything can hurt you when the time comes, but you have to keep in mind that you're fighting with a team. With other people. Surprising, isn't it?
How're you going to protect them?
You roll over to your side, sighing.
'What bothers me most..'
You raise one of your hands up to your face. You move your fingers around. You need to be careful with your jujutsu; your hands were going numb.
A thought then began clawing at the back of your mind. What if you completely paralyze your body? Fry your whole nervous system? Well, you did panic earlier. Maybe you had lost control? You don't usually shock yourself while in a battle..
'That's one more reason why i should work harder to control Raijin.'
It wasn't the first time, but this is one of the moments where it actually stung. It's comparable to the pain when a small drop of hot oil hits your skin. Irritating and something you don't want to happen again.
You won't let your efforts go to waste. After all the time you spent shedding blood and sweat to perfect this technique, there's no way you'll allow yourself to just end up in a hospital bed.
You grit your teeth,
'There's no way i'm ending up bedridden.'
Suddenly, you hear a knock on your rooms door, making you sit up. You raise a brow, wondering who would visit you.
You make your way to the door, hoping that it isn't Okkotsu or Panda on the other side. They're both annoying in their own ways, especially the bear, so it's best if they left you alone.
Much to your suprise, it's Inumaki waiting outside. He has a plastic bag on his arm, and he looks like he just came back from a walk.
"Toge?" you ask, "Why're you here?"
Inumaki points to the bag, "Sujiko."
He wants you to look at the bag. Instead of checking, you let him inside your room. Inumaki hands you the bag, now beginning to take off the scarf around his neck to reveal that he isn't wearing his usual shirt with the high collar.
Seeing the marks on the corner of his lips made you think how it got there. Is that a tattoo or a real seal?
"Did you buy me something?" you walk to your bed before sitting, "You didn't have to, you know."
The boy kicks off his shoes, revealing a pair of socks with animal prints.

You pull out two boxes of chocolate from the bag. Brand? Meiji. One is of your favorite, and one is almond which you assume is for inumaki.
"Thanks, Toge." you turn to him, watching as he takes a seat in front of you, one leg folded and on the bed while the other dangled. The mattress slightly sinks.
He shows a thumbs up, gently taking away his share of chocolate. The two of you then continue to open the boxes and eat in silence.
"Does Maki, Okkotsu, and Panda have their own?" you ask, which he answers with a hum. As expected of him; how could he forget about his friends?
Inumaki watches as you begin to eat. If he's being honest, you seemed more quiet and calm today. Inumaki had thought that maybe it's because of what Geto has announced.
Is Gojo going to make you fight? For sure. That already goes without saying. Inumaki's a little worried. Can you handle a hundred curses by yourself? You're strong, sure, but the boy doubts it's only going to be curses.
"Tuna tuna." he tries catching your attention.
You look at him, raising a brow when he points his index finger to the corner of his lips, indicating that you have chocolate on your lip.
'Crap. Am i eating it wrong? Has it melted on me?' you wonder, glancing at the box you held and the chocolate.
Your heart begins to race when Inumaki leans closer, heat rising to your cheeks and spreading to your ears. Inumaki tilts his head to the side.
"Takana?" he ask.
"I'm fine." you say, avoiding his gaze, "can you show me where the stain is or something?"
The boy shakes his head. Instead, he uses his own thumb to wipe away the chocolate, finger brushing the corner of your lips.
Not being able to resist, though you doubt you even want to stop him, you just let him do his thing.
He looks so adorable up close.
'What the hell..' you thought as Inumaki pulls away, going back to eating his almonds as if nothing happened.
"The next time you do that, i'm biting your finger off." you huff.
Inumaki smiles at the reaction he has gotten from you, heat now beginning to rise to his cheeks. A flustered Hokori Y/N who didn't even resist his touch? He's satisfied.
Though should he feel bad?
You aren't a messy eater.. And there was never really chocolate on your lips.
Glancing at the boy, you try your hardest not to crack a smile at how cute he looks. You gulp, thinking how dumb you probably look like getting giddy over a boy who's just eating chocolate. You take one more bite of your treat before calling Inumaki.
"Hm?" he replies, removing his gaze from the items he could look at in your room and placing his attention on you. He watches as a subtle glow of cursed energy covers both of your ears.
His expression seems to light up, making your heart nearly explode.
You clear your throat, "Are you okay?"

"I.. Am good! Thanks for asking.." Inumaki forces out before he starts coughing. You panic, placing the chocolate you held on the plastic bag on the bed, hoping that bits of chocolate won't stain your sheets.
You stand up, going to Inumaki's side and placing a hand on his back before patting it.
"Don't force yourself, Toge. Sorry. I thought it'd be a great time to talk and.." you trail off, "I'm sorry."
You never liked apologizing. You were prideful. It's in your name. But from how smooth that apology rolled off your tongue..
'Fuck, Toge. What have you done?' you're such a sucker for quiet guys with platinum blonde hair and has the snake and fangs seal on their dumb.. but cute.. faces.
Much to your surprise, Inumaki tries to speak yet again, "D-Dont! I want.. To talk..!"
He turns away before coughing once again. This time, there's blood. There's a look of horror in Inumaki's face as he rushes to cover his mouth, seeing a few droplets of crimson on your bed.
It almost slipped your mind that he fought today. Fought alongside you.
Saying a few words was already enough for him.
"Shit." you mutter, more concerned for the boy than your sheets. Inumaki turns to look at you, worry in his eyes. He notices that you haven't removed the cursed energy from your ears, but he chooses to stay silent in fear of staining any more of your belongings.
One thing repeated in his mind, 'They're gonna get mad at me. At .'
"It's fine, Toge, i can clean it up." you say to reassure the boy, the hand on his back now moving to his shoulder to give him a small squeeze.
The boy hurriedly searches for his phone in his pockets. He's glad that his fingers weren't sticky from the sweets he ate. While Inumaki types on his notes app, you briefly turn away to grab the tissue box on your bedside table.
《 I didn't mean to make a mess! I'm really really really sorry. I'll clean it. 》
You nod once you've read his message.
"Like i said, it's fine." you start to scold him, "But you need to stop when you know you can't speak."
The boy freezes when you grab his chin, making him look at you while you proceed to wipe his lips clean of blood.
"Y'know I'll always be here, right?"
Inumaki hums, "Mhm."
"Good thing you do. That means i won't be leaving anytime soon.. I'll wait until you can say full sentences. Just don't rush it." your heart races when you pull the tissue away, seeing his eyes focused..
On you.
On you.
It made you nervous.
"You know I-we-want you to be able to talk and communicate, but only i'm capable of using my cursed energy without getting tired. Take all the time you need because i don't mind waiting."
The boy then goes back to typing on his phone. You waited for him and eventually, he presents you his device. His ears are a bright red.
The text on his screen made you crack a smile. You let go of his chin, placing his hand on his head instead and ruffling his hair.
"You're welcome, you idiot."
Inumaki grins, butterflies in his stomach.
《 Thank you for giving me a chance
to speak again, Y/N. I'll make sure to
keep up with training to be as strong
as you.
I owe you a long conversation. 》
"Geto suguru. He's a high-class curse user who uses cursed spirit manipulation."
Ijichi explain in front of multiple sorcerers. This includes Yaga and Gojo.
"He can control and absorb the curses that occur naturally from those who are unrelated to actual jujutsu." the man continues, "it seems he's been rousing established religious organizations and gathering curses from it's believers."
"There's also the curses he possessed from before. It's possible he's not bluffing about a number as high as two thousand."
Yaga then chimes in, "Still, statistically, most of these have to be small fry below second-class. He also can't have more than fifty jujutsu sorcerers at his call."
Wouldn't it be insane if Geto does have backup or another plan? Oh imagine the chaos that would cause..
Though Gojo wanted to doubt his former companion and his capabilities, Geto is smart too. He could definitely think of another plan if the hundred curses fail.
Gojo then speaks.
"I'd say that's scarier." he then adds, "There's no way he'd declare a war that he'll lose."
To make things more difficult, Geto isn't the only thing Gojo's worried about. What about his precious students? What are they going to do when the hyakki yakkou does happen?
Gojo doesn't know if he'll leave Y/N with Okkotsu or bring them to Shinjuku. He knows they're strong enough to be able to exorcise on their own, but wouldn't it be better if Y/N's with Okkotsu?
Should they be protecting the student that Geto seems to be targeting? Y/N's a tough opponent for sure, but since Geto is advanced in a lot more ways, Gojo doubts that they'll be unharmed if they do face againts Geto himself.
Ah, decision making, so hard.. Plus, Gojo doesn't want to put a lot of stress and pressure on his student. Y/N has already received much of that from their family-the sorcerer doesn't want to add to that.
"Call the alumni and the four clans, also request the help from the ainu jujutsu company."
Yaga suddenly says, catching Gojo's attention. The white haired man raises a brow at this but he keeps silent.
'What the hell are the Hokori's gonna do?'
The only helpful person from that clan is Y/N and a few selected members. No offense, but most of your family members refuse to lower down their pride. And what does that cause? A lot of misunderstandings and unnecessary fighting.
'They really live up to their name.. Scary!'
Back to Yaga..
"This is an all out war!"
He says, raising a finger with furrowed brows. Anyone could see that he's furious. Who wouldn't be? That man was once his dear student..

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
