Arron, Alison, and Crovan all worked at the docks, and they were very well known engines.

Crovan was feeling sad. Some new tank engines from America had some, and were proving better than him.

Crovan worked the hardest he could, but he was limited to some corners of the docks due to his larger wheel base. "It's not fair!" said Crovan, "I've been working these rails for years, and they still out do me!!" "Hey Crovan, maybe your time will come," said Alison, "You just have to wait for it."

Crovan worked hard, shunting trucks and coaches all over. And one day, he saw an 08 shunter derailed at the points. "What happened here?" asked Crovan. "Stupid engine wasn't looking where he was going, and ran over a set of points! Now we have no engine to take the next commuter train!!" Crovan then said, "May I take it?" "I don't know," said the manager, "You're an E2 tank engine. You weren't designed for passenger trains." "I could try." The manager said, "Very well, I'll make the arrangements."

Crovan coupled up to coaches, and he was coupled up. These coaches were old push-pull passenger coaches.

Crovan pulled up to the station, and the people climbed on board. Crovan then headed off, and he was fast, and careful. Crovan was an experimental engine. He was built after nationalization, and he was given modifications to make him a good mixed traffic engine, and had a larger coal bunker, meaning he could go farther.

Soon, he reached the terminus, and everyone thanked him. The diesel looked at him, and said, "A pre grouping engine? Wow, they must be scrapping the barrel if you're working." "At least I made it this far in life!!" The diesel was taken back, and said, "Y-Y-Yes, yes you did." He then rattled off. Crovan then puffed backwards home, and he was on time, and had no complaints.

Crovan was cheered, while the diesel said he got a lucky break, but we know otherwise. Crovan then went on to many different railways after that, and he soon arrived at King's Cross, but that's another story.
