Euston Station is the biggest station of the former London Midland and Scottish Railway. Here, some of the older engines were just repainted.

The Duchess of Hamilton

and Steve.

Harold was built after nationalization, and he was not all too happy with his paint. "It's not fair!" he complained, "I was never painted in a color I wanted!" "British Railways will not do it you know, so just do the best you can," said Steve.

Harold did stop complaining a bit, and he worked as hard as he could. Just then, a new engine to be trialed was brought in.

His name was Den, and he was a new shunter, and his class was popping up all over. He was tasked with shunting. He banged the trucks, spilling loads, and putting coaches in the wrong places. Harold had to reorganize everything. Soon, Den was pushing the trucks in place, and he looked at the train he shunted. "Why does that useless kettle have to take this train? I can pull this no sweat! I beat he stalls before he even leaves!"

Den then had an idea, was coupled up to the train, and he thought he was being cleaver. Duchess then came, and said, "You're not actually thinking of pulling that, are you?" "I am. You can't pull heavy trains anymore. You're past it!" Duchess then said, "But your job is to shunt trains, not pull them. Harold hasn't taught you-" "I don't need to learn anything!" snapped the diesel, "I passed by tests, and I'm ready to go out!!" He then headed off, and Duchess said, "He'll be in trouble soon."

The diesel pulled the hardest he could, and his engine was starting to strain. No sooner had he reached the platform, his engine spluttered, and he broke down. "Oh grease and oil!" he said. The station master, and inspector came, and the inspector said, "WHAT ARE YOU PLAYING AT DEN!?! An engine like you should know that you can't pull trains this heavy!!" "Were you going to give it to one of those useless steam engines?" "Those USELESS engines are much better than you diesels will ever be!! This is why I never like the modernization plan, the new diesels are always making fools of themselves!! Now, once you are repaired, you can stay in the shed, until you learn to listen!!"

Steve took his train, and he made up for lost time. One of the new diesels then said, "Oh look, out dated rubbish doing our job." "Well, maybe if you all didn't show off and break down all the time, WE wouldn't spoil your image!!" The diesels were shocked. Steve was turned around, and headed back to Euston.
