《Whodunnit? Murder On Mystery Mountain》1 A Fresh Start

A car traveled down a long stretch of road. In the drivers seat, a man leaned forward to stare at the upcoming scenery. Mountains could be glimpsed through the pouring rain. To Giles, it looked as though you could jump from mountain to mountain. Each peak was lightly dusted with snow. Giles thought it was a welcoming sight after the previous summer.
It had been a year since the incident at Dawson Manor. Giles would like nothing more than to forget those few weeks, but he couldn't escape the memories even if he wanted to. The shrine had made sure of that. Lana had helped him set up that shrine. After painting each slab of concrete with their names, he said a small prayer to each god they had served while they were alive.
The whole ordeal had not been unusual but something about it had stayed with him. Vivian Barrows was supposed to live. She was the only person who had solved the case of the killer. Smart and not a shade of black in her heart, Vivian deserved to be honored. Giles made sure to put a rose on her grave when he was passing through the city in which she lived, which was New York City.
Shaking away the memory, Giles turned his 2014 Charger onto a narrow side road. There on the corner of the road by a thicket of trees, stood a sign. It was light blue and its corners showed signs of aging, but it was indeed the place Giles had been looking for. In faded green letters the sign said "Camp Redwood" and under that was a phrase which read "Leap, Love, and Choose Happiness!"
Giles rolled his eyes. It wasn't exactly what he would say about life, but if he complained then he might as well leave. "The job will be a fresh start." He reminded himself. He swallowed the lump in his throat and turned onto the road to Camp Redwood.

The gravel road twisted and turned until Giles reached a circle of small buildings. A woman stood outside of one of the buildings, waving her hands and smiling. As Giles pulled into a parking spot, he walked over to meet his new employer.
"Mrs. Moore?" He stretched out his hand. "Giles Preston." The woman smiled sweetly shaking his hand. "Yes! It's so good to finally meet you, you can call me Summer. This must be a long way from you." She said, gesturing to her surroundings. Giles nodded. "Indeed, but I intend to make the most of this experience madame, I assure you."
Summer Moore had to be the youngest manager Giles had ever seen. She seemed to be only twenty-nine and in good shape. As she spoke, her auburn hair bounced on her back which made her look no more than a teen. Summer had an infectious smile and a steady faith. She seemed to love what she did and it did not surprise Giles when she began gushing over her husband.
"Oh he's so amazing! You're going to love him Giles! He will probably want to know that you're here early so I will have to go soon." She walked on. "Here it is." They had been walking for some time but finally stopped in front of a cabin. "This is where you will be staying." She walked up to the porch, took out a key, and unlocked the door. "Enjoy your stay Giles, we really look forward to working with you." With that, Summer turned, auburn hair bouncing, and rushed back down the path.
Giles stepped into the cabin and winced. It smelled of mildew and sawdust. He wondered who had lived here last. "They clearly have no taste." He grumbled to himself, taking in the surroundings. Everything solid was made out of wood, including the toilet and the chairs. The bed was small and Giles barely fit on it when he tested his weight. Overall, it was a large step out of comfort for Giles. "Oh bugger it." He put down his suitcase and sighed.

"Welcome to Camp Redwood!" The voice startled him. He turned around to see a man that looked vaguely familiar, standing in the doorway of his cabin. It was indeed his new boss, Calvin Moore.
