《Destiny Untold》Chapter 4

Amara walks beside Sina, the beautiful redhead is bubbly and kind. She can't be much older than Amara herself and the brunette quietly hopes they can become friends so the new environment can stop feeling so big and daunting. "I know it is so much to take in but I can totally help any time you need it. Maybe I can give you guys a tour later? I'm sure you just wanna chill for now" she proposes, a hint of anxious energy giving away her own possible social awkwardness.

"Sure, that would be great! It'll get me away from the geezers if we can sneak off" Amara stage whispers the last part much to her parent's guffawing. They pounce, tickling and poking at Amara until their daughter is laughing so hard she can't breathe. "Help me Sina!" she pleads between laughs and holds a hand out to the redhead who is also laughing but manages to latch on and pull.

"Nah uh, little cub. First, you must concede and retract your defamatory statement" Ulrik tuts and Elsie joins in by offering her own evil grin and threateningly bringing her fingers closer to Amara's side.

"Okay okay! I give. You are both youthful and fun" she grumbles and rolls her eyes but a fond smile breaks through as she flings herself away from her parent's torture and wraps the taller girl in a hug, shifting them so Sina stands between her and the couple. Is she using Sina as a shield? Yes, Yes she is. Does she feel bad about it? Not one bit.

"Now that the great tickle war has ended, we have arrived" Sina teases and the girls are no longer hugging but they do have their arms linked. "This wing is mostly empty but it is right beside the section that houses the Alpha and those closest to him so you can rest easy. Not that any other place is unsafe! but it's probably extra peace of mind, you know?" the girl rushes to explain but Amara waves it off and smiles kindly.

"Thanks for showing us the way red. You're alright. Feel free to kidnap the brat whenever you want" Elsie offers then spins around and saunters into the room, Rik rolls his eyes fondly and nods his thanks before following. Amara sighs and shakes her head at her mother's dry sense of humor and blunt wording but she can't help but love the aggressive woman.

"Sorry about them. It really was nice of you. Maybe we can hang out some time? No actual kidnapping required" Amara proposes and Sina laughs before eagerly agreeing. The sound is melodic and soft. With the redhead taking her leave, Amara is free to go look around their new rooms. For the moment at least.

The room is more like a full suite. They have a spacious common area and a small kitchen. Two separate rooms branch off from either side of the common area which holds a plush leather couch and armchair, dark wood furnishings, and a top of the line television over a brick fireplace. There are soft blankets deliberately draped over the armchair and the back of the couch as well as extras in a basket beside the fireplace.

Popping into the empty bedroom, there is a door that leads into a walk-in closet and the other goes to the en-suite. The shower has a huge rainfall showerhead and dark tiles to match the dark granite countertops. The tub sits separately and has a squared-off modern design that could easily fit four people. There are toiletries and towels in the small closet next to the tub. Everything is simple but luxurious.

A part of Amara feels weird about staying there. They had always lived in decent places before moving on to the next place but never anything quite like the pack house. She shoves away the discomfort and takes her time unpacking before falling into the bed. An involuntary groan leaves the brunette when her body sinks into the plush mattress and she never wants to get up. Lifting her head slightly, the clock shows there are a few hours until dinner so she chucks off her shoes and jacket then rolls so the covers wrap around her like a burrito and she is out like a light.

Gasping, Amara comes to reality. Her eyes come back into focus and she looks at her hands before registering the calming presence of her parents. They share a look the younger can not quite decipher but opts to ignore it, preferring to cuddle in their arms and take all of the comfort her two beloved people can provide.

When they do finally head down for dinner, Amara is still trying to fully wake up. "What a cute sleepy little wolf" her mother coos jokingly and squeezes her cheeks. The brunette bats her mom's hands away and pouts. The action only makes Elsie chuckle which makes Amara's pout more pronounced. She turns her attention to the dining room instead where everyone is gathering. Her eyes instantly connect with Alpha Maddox's who simply lifts a brow making Amara's face heat up but she refuses to let it show.

Standing beside the Alpha is a tall elegant older woman with short light brown hair and eyes to match. Her posture is strong but graceful and it reminds Amara of her own mother who can be beautiful while also taking no shit from anyone. She is speaking to a guy around Sina's age. His hair is cut short on the sides with the top left longer and styled messily. The color of it is close to the Alpha's but his eyes are a warm light brown reminiscent of the older woman, a smirk playing on his lips and stance proud.

The man who had been waiting for Maddox earlier in the day is also here. His laugh can be heard clear across the large dining hall. He has Korean features with a warm smile and dancing brown eyes that look intelligent as if they miss nothing. He is a contrast to the other man at his side with piercing icy blue eyes, deep golden tan skin, close-cropped black hair, and a stern demeanor. His lips are set in a firm line and his chiseled jaw is clenched, clearly annoyed at his more jovial friend.

Ulrik pulls his family over to the empty seats at the Alpha's dining table which have been set aside for them. Finally, Alpha Maddox calls for everyone's attention effectively quieting the crowd and starting the pre-dinner pack introductions. Amara can feel the curious looks aimed their way but does her best to not acknowledge them.

"We would like to thank you all for coming today. I know not everyone attends pack dinners every night but tonight is a special exception because we will be having new additions to the pack. Ulrik Johansen along with his wife Elsie and daughter Amara arrived today. Do your best to make them feel welcome but do not pounce. We all know how rowdy this pack can get and I can't have you running them out of here" he jokes and the pack laughs. There must be an interesting story behind those words based on the whispers and giggles going around.

"Alright you mutts, let us get through the important part so we can all chow down. Johansen family, this is my beautiful mother Fia and pack Luna until the day I find my mate and she is ready to take on the duties. With her is my younger brother Lyam and flanking me are the pack Beta who my close advisor Carter, as well as our Gamma and head of information Min-Jun. If you run into any troubles, please approach any of them and they will provide help. With that out of the way, you know what they say, Good food, Good meat, Good God, Let's eat!"

Cheers ring out all over the dining hall and everyone starts passing around the plates of food while chatting happily. "Welcome. It has been quite a while since we have had a new family join. Hopefully, you won't find settling into a pack too jarring. We can be...a lot" Fia, who is closest to Ulrik, says with a fondly exasperated smile.

"It will take some adjusting but we can be a lot ourselves so it sounds like we should fit right in. Oh! This is my wife Elsie. She is the Queen of a lot" he jokes and sends a rakish smile her way.

"Figures after how many years together and my arm latched around yours and yet you still manage to forget I'm here". It's obvious from her voice that she is joking in that dry way of hers, probably with a pleasant smile on her lips and a loving look towards Rik.

"Oh honey it's not that I forget, trust me I've tried. Doesn't work" His words find a way to be charming yet sarcastic. They earn dad a playful punch on the arm from his wife and Amara can't help the giggle that escapes regardless of her attempts to fully suppress it.

Fia sends Amara a kind smile which the now blushing younger woman reciprocates. Thankfully, the platter of food is passed to her and she can turn her attention to plating up her dinner. Amara's focus is so intent on the task that she misses Maddox's gaze continuously traveling back to her or the tender assessing eyes of Fia.

Small talk is had over shared food and the people around Amara are lovely but the day has been so long and remnants of her earlier dream are adding to her mental exhaustion. Complimenting the meal and politely excusing herself with claims of a headache, the she-wolf leaves her parents in deep conversation while she heads up to their suite.
