《Whodunnit? Murder On Mystery Cove》11 Spared or Scared

As the guests gathered in the dining room, Giles presented them a lunch of roasted chicken sandwiches , salted asparagus, and buttered lingonberry biscuits. Despite the meal looking absolutely delicious, many of them did not touch their food. Glances all around the room, suggested the investigation had not gone well for some of them.
Finally the silence was once again broken. "I think no matter what happened today, we all should eat. I think better on a full stomach and you all should too." Ruben said, grabbing his fork and beginning to eat. Lizzie nodded. "I agree, I'd rather leave here alive than die of starvation." There was a pause and finally the guests began to pick at their food.
Finally Giles arrived in the room. "Good afternoon guests, after lunch you will be able to go to your rooms but only to your rooms and stand in front of your mirrors. Each mirror has a hidden camera behind it." At this, there were gasps. "I'm being watched!" Grant was furious. Giles held up a hand and continued. You will stand in front of these mirrors and state your cases of how you think Amelia Bramble was killed. Those who impress the killer will be spared and those who do not will be scared. I do hope you play this smart. Afterwards we will meet for dinner.
The guests did indeed go to their rooms to state their cases. The killer looked at their mirror and admired themselves. They would not be stating a case of course. The killer couldn't wait to kill again, after all, it's what they did.
At dinner, the guests did eat. They ate so much food that they were sick to their stomach. In fact, Caleb who was already a big eater himself, ate two whole lobsters. Andrew tried not to watch. The man was in the military, he could have easily done this. That's why Andrew had accused him of being the killer in his case and was eager to know immediately.

Giles came in flanked by a maid, Lana. She was holding a platter. On it, was a mini coconut cocktail. They each grabbed one and sat back down at their seats. "Guests, it is time to find out who captured the killer's attention and won this case. He picked up a card from the table and read it aloud.
"Congratulations, Montana! You have won and are indeed spared! Please stand and tell the guests how Amelia was murdered. Montana smiled but stopped smiling when she saw Grant give her a confused look. This was not a happy matter.
"Right. While we were all in the foyer, Amelia was at the bar grabbing a drink. When her drink came, there was a note attached to it, telling her to sit on the chair opposite the fireplace if she wanted to live. Amelia of course obeyed and when she sat on the seat it triggered a trapdoor to open and out crawled a deadly scorpion. It crawled to her foot and stung her, this instantly killed her with poison traveling very fast. The killer was then able to sit beside her and stick a knife in her back to throw us off. At some point, the killer took a can of red paint and dropped spatters of it everywhere to throw us off even more. This is how Amelia Bramble met her fate." She felt sick to her stomach reading that.
Giles nodded and resumed. "Now, that the matter is settled, we are moving on. In each of your cocktails there is a piece of coconut with your fates scrawled onto them. Everyone please one by one announce if you are scared or spared to the house.
Bailey was first, he picked up his coconut and sighed in relief. "Spared." Vivian was next, she was also spared. Caleb was next and he was also spared. Andrew was spared as well. Natalie crossed her fingers and looked at her coconut. "Spared." Grant picked his coconut piece up and threw it back down. "Bullshit, scared." He stared down at his plate. Lizzie was terrified but she was in fact.."Spared". Tripp was also spared. Ruben and Regina looked at each other, one of them was scared and one was spared. Regina read hers aloud. "Spared! Thank You God!" Ruben didn't even have to read his but he did and was indeed, "Scared".

Giles cleared his throat. "Ruben and Grant, you are scared. Everyone else please sleep well. He knew that was not likely with the killer but he had to hope.
