《True Reddit Posts》Broke The Third Dimension

I posted this to paranormal but I'm not sure if it belongs here instead as it is unexplainable so here we are!

Ok this is my second post, and I hope my story falls within the guidelines, if not I will remove it. I'm not sure what to make of this situation, even a whole year later. This story is 100% real and truly...freaky. It's going to be long so hold tight! ITS WORTH THE READ! I live in North-westish New Jersey in a pretty quiet town. There really isn't much to do here except hike, go to QuickChek at weird hours, or just chill at home. So one evening, my best friend Alyssa and I decided we were going to hike up to one of our favorite (now gone due to people setting them on fire for NO REASON) abandoned places, the Profanity Houses in Allamuchy.

So we get to the state park, park the car and begin our hike. The walk to the closest house (there were a few) is about a quarter mile straight up through some light woods. We had previously been here a handful of times, but it truly is an incredible experience every time, which makes for interesting times. This time was very different. As we approach the first house, I begin to feel a little uneasy but I brush it off as just my general anxiety getting the best of me. Two girls in the middle of the woods on a cold fall day alone; the fear of the unknown and unknowing. The house standing (barely) in front of us is (was) two levels, big and brown. To the left of it is the abandoned stable house. We explore the stables, but they were pretty empty (besides all the trash and profanities spray painted inside the entire building) so we moved onto the house. We are both very cautious, paying close attention to our surroundings, especially here.

This is where it starts to get weird so stay with me. Now, it had previously rained that day so everything was super wet and muddy (this is important later), basically nothing in sight was dry. As we were about to enter (what is left) of the house I stop Alyssa and point to a pair of muddy, old bright green pants on the ground. We laugh about it and go into the house. We explore the house for a good 15 minutes, reading all the profanities that cover the walls aloud. The upstairs to this particular house on the estate had a staircase which was almost completely demolished. You had to use an old, disgusting mattress and a plank of wood to get up to the first (almost solid) pair of stairs to make it up to the second floor (which was un-walkable). These houses are beyond trashed. Barely anything left, and whatever is left is completely destroyed, even the floors, walls, windows etc. I am surprised the house didn't collapse with us in it. We pay our respects and walk out the way we came in. We pass over the pair of pants, and directly in front of them is a bright white piece of paper, completely dry as if someone just dropped it there. What? This was NOT there when we were walking into the house. I picked it up, curious to what it could be. It was an old check from 1972 with an address to a family (I wish I could remember the name) on Shades Of Death Road (unrelated "haunted" road in that town). We thought it was super weird, as we were it wasn't there when we walked in. Again, we were completely alone in these woods.

We keep the check and continue our walk to the next house. The way to the house is a narrow pathway that was mostly all flowing water straight down to the house (another quarter mile). We had to walk on the grass outside the path as to not get our feet soaked. Boom right in front of us is another piece of dry, white paper. At this point we think its super weird and pick it up again. It was an invoice with the same family name to an auto body shop dated the year ahead of the year on the check: 1973. We are a little spooked and very intrigued. We keep the paper, and continue walking. We get to what was left of the house (just the foundation of a basement). There is a weird boat with junk piled all around the property. Garbage, beer cans, a used toilet seat - you name it, it was there. Peeking out from all the garbage was, you guessed it, piece of paper. . This was a check, same family, different date, 1971. Three pieces of documents, three consecutive years. How could this be? We kept it and decided to go back to the car, and research the family name at our local Starbucks on my laptop.

After lots of googling, we finally get a phone number for the house phone of this family. We felt weird keeping their personal checks and one invoice, and thought it would be nice for them to have it back, still in shock that we even found ANY of that, and that they were completely .

We call up the phone number, and after a few rings an woman answers. My friend Alyssa explains what we had found and where we had found it, and that we wanted to give it back. The woman was adamant about not wanting anything to do with these papers. She explains her mother used to live in the house (first house) and was upstairs yesterday cleaning out her old drawers. We thought nothing of that statement and decided to drop them in their mailbox anyway, being as we had the address and knew where Shades of Death was. On our way there, it hit us. How would an elderly woman (thanks WhitePages for letting us know she was in her late 80's) climb all the way up to that house, get upstairs and go through her old drawers? It was almost impossible to get up the stairs unless you're some trapeze artist, and once up, there was barely a floor to walk on. Not only that, but everything, and I mean in that place is , so how could she have been going through anything, and how could documents be kept in that kind of condition? If it rained and they were out there the whole time, they would have been waterlogged and not crispy, white and folded neatly.

We are super freaked out. We get to the road and the GPS tells us the address was on the right. Nothing there. Hmm, did we pass it? Turn around. Nothing again. Turn around. Where could this house be? This road is not busy, with only a dozen houses. After going back and forth on this already creepy road for twenty minutes, we park the car and decide to find this house on foot. We finally find the house and mailbox. Why couldn't we find it before when it was in front of us the whole time?? Weird. We place the documents in the mailbox and go on our way. A few months later, we tell our story to a friend and decide to show her the house of the family the checks belonged to. Gone. Nothing. There's no house. No mailbox. Nothing. What?? We don't know what to make of this situation. It was truly very weird and still rattles me to this day. Anyone??

My friend and I went to these copmpletely destroyed abandoned houses we've been to dozens of times after a very rainy day, found 2 checks and 1 invoice on the ground belonging to the same family, they were completely dry, called the owners to give them back, they didn't want it, said they were upstairs in the house yesterday going through drawers (impossible, physically), went to address since it was on the checks,,, couldn't find the house, it appears out of nowhere, and is not there anymore.
