《help wanted - Harry Styles au》Chapter 22

It was Friday, Penelope started at the daycare this week and I must say, there's a huge difference taking care of both of the kids to just Danny. The house wasn't as loud, but still very very loud. My responsibilities have shifted a little, obviously with Pen going to daycare.
Harry did drop offs in the morning and I would pick her up in the afternoon with Danny. Although the school stays open till 6, we agreed that we didn't want Pen to be in daycare all day and I would pick her up around 3:30 everyday.
"Okay, baby. We gotta pick up sissy now, let's go." I said to Danny as I packed up his diaper bag and threw it over my shoulder. Harry instructed me to use the second car, telling me if I needed to pick up Pen or go out of the house in general it was free for me to use.
We made our way to the daycare that was a little farther away from the house than we initially wanted but I guess for the price Julia was giving it was worth it.
"Hello, Anastasia! Here to pick up Penelope?" Julia greeted as I walked into the door with Danny on my hip. No duh, I'm here to pick up some random kid. I rolled my eyes in my head.
"Hi, Julia. Yes I am!" I gave her a small smile and made my way past her to the 4 year old class room.
"Anastasia!!!" Penelope squeals as soon as I enter the room. She instantly ran to me and hugged my legs.
"Hey bug, how was school?" I smiled at her smothering her face with kisses making her laugh out loud.
"Mrs.Styles! Penelope had a great day today! We learned more about numbers and letters didn't we Penelope?" Ms.Hannah greeted me handing me the Penelope's sheet for the day.
"Oh please, call me Anastasia." I corrected her, wanting to clear up the confusion.
"Oh my apologies. Mr.Styles refers to you as Mrs.Styles sometimes, so I thought I'd address you as such as well. Sorry Anastasia." She smiles at me. I nod at her and grab a hold of Pen's hand as we left the classroom. Mrs.Styles huh. Did he think he was funny or something? Surely this is just a play what happened at the doctors the other month.
"Bye you guys! I'll see you later!" Julia cheered as we walked towards the entrance.
"Bye Julia, we'll see you next Monday." I responded politely.
"No silly, I'll be coming over for dinner later! Harry didn't mention it?" She furrowed her eyebrows slightly.
"Oh... he must have forgotten." I said with a little bit of distaste in my mouth. "But I guess we will see you later then!" I threw on a fake smile and exited the building.
What the actual fuck. Once the kids were buckled into the car I drove home absolutely fuming. Why was Julia coming over for dinner? And why the heck did Harry not mention it.
When I pulled into the driveway of the house Harry's car was already parked, surprisingly. It as only 4, he's not due to be home for at least another 30 minutes. I hastily got the kids out of the car, carrying both of their bags and mine as well.
"Penelope. Take your brother to the living room. I need to talk to your dad." I said, she quickly nodded and held Danny's hand leading him into the house I took a deep breathe and walked into the house. Harry was already greeting the kids.

"Hi bab-" Harry's smile fell slightly as he saw me in the doorway. "What's wrong?" He frowned at me.
"What's wrong?" I glared at him. "What's Wrong, Harry?" My voice was sharp and I didn't let it shake.
"Do you have something to tell me?" I continued to glare at him. Harry sighed and gestured for me to follow him into the kitchen. "You're just going to invite Julia over without telling me?! Why is she even coming?" I grumbled.
"I thought I told you! I swear I did, I'm sorry. It must have slipped my mind." Harry sighed walking to the stove and stirring whatever it was in the pot.
"Oh and you're cooking??!" I gasped. Harry barely cooks, I'm always the one cooking dinner, he's never made dinner for us. Only a few times when I first got hired, but after that I'm the only that did all the cooking for every meal.
"I didn't know you could cook!!" I said sarcastically. "Harry you already know I get uncomfortable with how she treats you." I huff.
"Seriously, Anastasia. I think you're overreacting a little bit." Harry rolled his eyes at me. "I invited her for dinner just to thank her for what she's doing for us at the daycare. What's the big deal?" Harry barely even looked at me, continuing cooking.
"Well it would've been nice to be in the know." I was shooting daggers into the side of his head. "I would like to be in the know about these decisions, Harry."
Harry just hummed in response not saying another word. I stood there for a few seconds giving him a chance to say anything, my heart rate only picked up with every passing second of silence.
"Awesome." I said softly, giving up. "Well have fun on your date." I said bitterly, turning around and heading straight to my room.
If Harry wanted to have his little dinner date with Julia, then so be it, but I wasn't going to be a part of it.
An hour later, I finished folding and putting away all my laundry, vacuumed the floor, and cleaned the bathroom. Honestly, I was just trying to consume my brain with anything right now to distract me. I was beyond annoyed with Harry about the entire situation.
I was frustrated with how he handled it and even more frustrated to how he responded to me being upset.
"Anastasia?" Harry knocked on my door. My heart skipped a beat, I took a deep breathe and sighed.
"It's open." I said, nonchalantly. I continued to organize stuff on the floor by my desk, not paying him any attention as he opened my door.
"What are you doing?" Harry asked, walking over to me and sitting in front of me.
"Just organizing my stuff." I shrugged, not really looking at him, the same way he did to me in the kitchen.
"Can you please talk to me." Harry asked. My eyes darted to his for a second. Just long enough for me to shoot a glare at him before turning back to what I was doing. "Anastasia." Harry muttered.
I kept my ground and shook my head slightly.
"Can you at least look at me?" He sighed frustrated. "You're being incredibly childish. I was giving you time to cool off but you're still being irrational!" He groaned.
"That's not fair." I furrowed my eyebrows. "You were the one that didn't talk to me! You were the one that didn't want to answer me in the kitchen, you're the one that didn't communicate this with me effectively. And you keep telling me I'm making a big deal?" I furrowed my eyebrows at him, at this point I didn't bother to hide the hurt laced in my voice and face.

"Harry you've never cooked dinner for me, I'm always the one cooking dinner, which is fine. It's my job, but some help every so often would be nice. And knowing that you jumped to it for Julia.. that also hurts." I sighed. "Look, you wanna have Julia over, fine. I wish I heard it from you and not her." I mumbled.
"I'm sorry, baby. I am." Harry said, reaching over grabbing my hands. "You're right, I should've communicated with you better. That's on me. I'll work harder." He said with pleading eyes. I sighed and nodded my head, knowing I couldn't be mad at him forever.
"I promise I'll cook more often. I didn't even realize that you've been pulling most of the work in meals." Harry scooted closer to me, pressing his forehead to mine. "I'm sorry I upset you, Anastasia." Harry said sincerely. "Please join us for dinner, I'd really like it if you were there with me." He begged.
"Okay... I guess I forgive you." I said. Harry's lips turned into a smile and he placed a peck on my lips. "If she says anything out of pocket, I will punt her." I whispered casually causing Harry to chuckle.
"I look forward to it." He grinned. "Come on , she'll be here soon I think." Harry checked his watch and helped me to my feet.
Harry finished up setting up the table while I got the kids ready for dinner. The doorbell rang and I took a deep breathe. Putting on my best smile and walking with Harry to the door.
"Hello!!" Julia grinned widely as Harry opened the front door.
"Julia! Hi, come in come in." Harry opened the door wider for her to enter. She instantly gave Harry a tight hug and placed a small kiss on either side of his face, causing my fists to clench.
"Uhh. Here, let me take your coat." Harry offered, she nodded and shook off her trench coat to reveal a very tight red dress. Someone went home and changed I see. I glanced at Harry to make sure I didn't miss some sort of dress code, but relaxed when I saw he was wearing jeans and a t shirt. She wore this to impress him for sure.
"Anastasia, nice to see you again." She nodded to me, curtly.
"Welcome to our home." I tried my best to be polite.
We made our way to the kitchen, Penelope settled in her seat and I buckled Danny into his chair.
"Wow, everything looks delicious!" Julia sat down in front of Harry, my seat. "You didn't have to do all this for me!" She gasped, taking a look at the spread on the table.
"It's no big deal, we just wanted to thank you for everything." Harry nodded his head at her. I took the empty chair next to Harry. "Let's dig in shall we?" Harry started to put food onto Penelope's plate.
The dinner was basically filled with Harry and Julia talking and catching up. I had no idea what they were talking about so I kept quiet for most of the dinner, besides when either of them would directly ask me something.
"So nice for you to have me over, Harry. Maybe next time we can make it just us?" Julia winked at him as we finished up our meal. My eyes widened and I looked over to Harry, waiting for him to say something.
"I don't know about that." He laughed awkwardly.
"It'll be fun! Just like the good old days, I know you remember." She wiggled her eyebrows making me want to throw up.
"What does she mean by that?" I raised an eyebrow at Harry.
"Oh he didn't mention it to you?" Julia giggled. "We used to date!" My mouth opened slightly at her words and Harry visibly shriveled into his seat.
"Oh really? He never mentioned it." I tilted my head slightly, absolutely fed up and done with today.
"Yeah, he's a wild one let me tell you." She grinned, about to ramble onto a story.
"No. Julia." I slammed my hands down onto the table, standing up slightly leaning over. "Let me tell you. I do not appreciate your sly seductive comments to my boyfriend. You and him used to date? Cool. Now you're not. You could at least respect our relationship and keep your hands and side eyes to yourself." I spat.
Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped.
"H-Harry never mentioned you two were in a relationship. How am I supposed to guess he'd ever go for someone like you." She stuttered out.
"No, of course he didn't." I glanced at Harry who looked scared about the whole situation. "You should leave now." I said simply, standing up straight.
Without another word, Julia got up and left the house. I stood there in my spot for a moment, not moving. My mind was filled with hurt and anger, my hands still balled into a fist.
I moved and started to unbuckle Danny from his chair, holding him to my body about to leave the kitchen.
"Ana-" Harry's voice filled the silent kitchen. I stopped in my spot and turned to him, tears were already starting to form in my eyes.
"No." I shook my head before leaving to go to Danny's room. I locked the door behind me and sat down on the ground, letting Danny go. The tears finally fell from my eyes.
My brain hurt, I can't keep up with everything. Harry and Julia used to date? Why didn't he tell me the truth? Why would he keep that from me. He never told her we were dating... was he ashamed of me? Maybe he enjoyed the attention from an attractive woman.
I got Danny ready for bed and put him in his crib. I laid down on the floor next to the crib, grabbing a spare pillow and blanket from his closet. I didn't feel like going out of his room and possibly having to deal with Harry.
I know it's bad, I should face my problems head on and not hide from it. But right now, I just needed to be left alone with my thoughts. I'm still upset with Harry and I know nothing nice will come out of my mouth if I saw him right now.
I felt hurt, unworthy.. Harry hid stuff from me and it broke my heart to know that maybe I can't trust him completely. He lied to me about Julia, what else could he be lying to me about?
Hell we haven't even been together for that long and I already feel like things keep coming up, telling me that this isn't a good idea.
