《help wanted - Harry Styles au》Chapter 10

The days seemed to go by faster and faster here at the Style's home, as each day goes by the more fond I become of the kids. The more fond I become of Harry. It's been two weeks since the incident with Kyle, since we made the fort and all fell asleep together in the living room.

Harry seemed much more comfortable with me, his words seemed to be more confident when he spoke to me, more friendly, more casual. He was more bold in the way he talked to me, dare I say flirtatious. Seems that it wouldn't be a complete morning if my cheeks weren't beet red from his words.

Harry got a rise out of seeing me squirm from his words, seeing my cheeks flush and bright with every compliment that seeped from his lips. I'm not entirely sure what was going on between us, but I knew that it was a dangerous game I was playing. The weird feeling I get when Harry's around only seems to grow with each passing day. But I didn't know what he was doing or why he was doing this. Was he just bored? Am I just an available woman for him to flirt with?

I sighed as I watched Penelope scribble on her paper, filling it with colors and random shapes.

"Okay Pen, I know it's Friday but we gotta work on letters today okay?" Penelope was very smart, being 4 years old she would be entering Kindergarten next year. She groans and lets her head fall onto the table.

"But it's Friday!!" She complained. I laughed at her throwing a baby fit. She knew that Friday's are relaxed and that we don't typically work on letters and writing on Fridays.

"Yes, but you somehow convinced me to skip letters yesterday. So we have to do it today." I said pointedly. "We've gotta expand that big brain of yours, right?" She wasn't happy, but eventually she nodded her head and pulled out her little booklet that I bought for her to practice writing and learning letters.

"I'm going to get Danny up, you go ahead and start practicing on your own." She nodded her head again, dragging her pencil over the letters on the page. I scuffled her hair a little before getting up and going to Danny's room, waking him up from his nap and changing his diaper.

"Mama!" He cheered, yanking my hair, making me wince.

"Well, that's not very nice is it, bug? Yanking Ana's hair?" I glared at him. He continued to giggle as I poked at his belly, tickling him. "Can you say Ana?" I tried, we've been trying to get him to say my name. He can say my name, he just refuses to call me it.

"Ana." He says softly. I nod my head.

"Very good, bud. I'm Ana." This caused him to shake his head. I laughed and scooped him up in my arms, he placed his hand on my face.

"Mama." He said simply. I sighed but nodded my head, giving him a soft kiss to the cheek. These past two weeks have consisted of me and Harry correcting him when he says mama, which turned into just me correcting him and Harry chuckling to himself watching me frantically struggle.

Just give it up, he told me. But I felt wrong. I didn't deserve the name.

When I went back to the kitchen Penelope was still tracing the letters on the page. I smiled at her, knowing that she was actually trying. I placed Danny in his highchair and gave him his snack, sitting next to Penelope again to watch her.

"Wow, Pen. That looks really good." I smiled at her. She grinned at me. "Alright, let's practice our reading yeah?" I turned a few pages to get to the stories in the book. Penelope was rather smart for her age, although she couldn't read words well, she was very good at sounding out the letters and sounds.

"Th- The b.. b.. i.. rd?" She spoke softly, a lack of confidence in her voice.

"The bird." I helped her, she nodded.

"The bird.. f.. fl..ew." She continued to say. I continued to guide her through the words and sentences on the page. With a bit of guidance, she was able to repeat the words after me.

"Hello, my loves." A loud voice echoed threw the house, the kids instantly yelped with excitement, my heart skipped a beat. Harry walked into the kitchen, the top two buttons of his shirt unbuttoned and his hair messily thrown around.

Damn.

I shook my head, trying to rid the perverted thoughts that wanted to creep into my mind. Penelope was out of her seat in no time, running to give Harry a hug. Harry was ecstatic, peppering her face with kisses, then doing the same to Danny who was finishing his snack.

"How was your day?" I asked Harry as he sat down in the seat in front of me. He let out a huff and let his head fall to the back of the chair.

"Exhausting and boring, thank God it's Friday. All I could think about was coming home to you." He said, his eyes widened when he realized what he said, I too was stilled in my seat. "To all of you, everyone. I meant." He stuttered awkwardly. I laughed at his awkwardness, happy that this time it's not me that's flustered and tripping over my words. I stood from my seat, deciding it would be good if we had a cup of tea, Harry likes to unwind with tea or alcohol after work.

I placed the mug in front of Harry, feeling a little bold, I leaned closer to his ear and whispered, "Mr.Styles." I let fingers run lightly over his arm as I made me way back to my chair in front of him, I could feel his eyes burning the back of my head. I sat down and smiled at him innocently.

His eyes stared down at me, he was tense. Just how I wanted him. For once the tables were turned, it was me that was making him squirm and I loved every second of it.

"Daddyyyy." Penelope whines from beside me, desperately trying to grab her dad's attention. "Anastasia's helping me learn how to read." She smiled widely, showing Harry the letters she traced over. Harry's gaze finally tore away from me and looked at his daughter's work.

"That's very good Penelope." He smiled. "You have better writing than me!" He gasped, a wide grin on his face. Pen giggled beside me and nodded her head in agreement.

"What shall we do tonight?" I raised an eyebrow at Penelope.

"We?" Harry's eyes brightened. "You're not going home today?" His smile met his eyes.

"Daddy, this is home silly." Pen scolded him from beside me.

"Yeah, daddy. This is home." I stuck my tongue out at him, childishly.

"Watch it." He pointed his finger at me.

My hand flew to my mouth, trying to stifle the laugh that threatened to spill out of my throat. Watch it, huh? Mr.Styles has a daddy kink. Oh this is too good.. and incredibly hot.

"Anyways, no. I'll be staying here this weekend if that's alright with you?" I tilted my head at him, trying to hide my smile.

"Of course. So then, what shall we do?" He sipped his tea.

"Movie night!!" Pen yelled, causing my to flinch from the volume.

"Another movie night Pen?" I was shocked she wanted another, considering we just had the other week, she just nodded her head next to me.

"Yeah, yeah. Let's make it a weekly thing! Every Friday we will have a movie night together, as a family." Harry stated with a smile. A family. That statement alone was enough to melt my heart. I felt guilty though. Truth is, I'm not a part of this family, not really. Even if I live here.. take care of the kids.. even if Danny calls me mama. I'm not part of this family. I'm just a nanny.

"Sounds good." I nodded, dismissing the self deprecating thoughts in my head. "Do you.. want to change into something more comfortable?" I suggested, gesturing to his work clothes. He nodded, and stood from his seat drinking the last of his tea. I got up as well, unbuckling Danny from his high chair.

"Thank you for the tea, Anastasia." Harry gripped my arm and spoke into my ear lowly. My breathe wavered but I just nodded my head. Harry went away into his bedroom and I let Pen and Danny play in the living room.

"What should we eat tonight?" I asked Pen, already knowing her answer was probably going to be something like the frozen nuggets and pizza rolls in the oven. Just as I thought, she shouted "Dino nuggets!"

"I think we should save that for you snack tomorrow..." I thought. "What about pasta? Spaghetti?" I asked.

"Oooo Spaghetti and meatballs!!" She cheered. I nodded, giving her a kiss on her head before heading to the kitchen to start working on dinner. Luckily, we had frozen meatballs in the freezer so all I had to worry about was the sauce. I liked to make it homemade.

I hummed to myself as I stirred the pasta sauce over the oven, I enjoyed cooking a lot. I hated it at first, solely because I was forced to cook. But eventually it became my escape, it was the only time I was able to be left alone, where I was in control of what I was doing.

"Smells absolutely delicious." Harry spoke, right next to my ear. I jumped slightly at his presence. He was directly behind me, I could feel his stomach press lightly against my back. "You sure do know how to cook, Ana." He leaned against the counter beside me, watching me stir. "Anything I can do to help?" He questioned.

"Hmmm.. Well, Mr.Styles. You could tell me how it tastes." I raised an eyebrow, lifting the wooden spoon up to his head.

He grinned at me, slowly opening his mouth and wrapping it around the tip of the spoon. I watched him carefully, studying the way his mouth opened and his tongue poked out a little as he slurped a bit of the sauce. I pulled the spoon away from his mouth before putting it into my own, his eyes never left mine. His tongue poked out of his mouth and slid across his bottom lip.

Everything about this felt sensual. Intimate. Dangerous.

"Thoughts?" I said, barely above a whisper. His head was close to mine, I could literally feel his breathe on my lips.

"It's amazing." He said softly. "You're amazing." I blushed at his words, frozen in my spot.

"Daddy! Ana! Hurry!" We were both pulled out of our thoughts, my head fell down to stare at the pot in front of me. Harry scurried off to get the kids ready for dinner while I finished up preparing and setting the table for dinner.

My body was moving but my mind was elsewhere. Was he going to kiss me? We've never been that close before, and yet here I am craving it. Craving him.

We ate dinner rather quickly, Penelope insisted that we hurried so we could watch as many movies as possible. The kids scarfed their spaghetti and meatballs (Harry just the spaghetti.) and the kids were darting to the living room to settle in.

Penelope had a list of movies she was certain we would get through tonight but knowing her, we'd only get into one and a half movies before she gets bored or starts dozing off.

We threw the blankets and pillows onto the floor once again, making the carpet as comfy as possible. This time we put brought out a small bed cushion for Danny to sleep in once he fell asleep. Harry decided that we would start with Disney movies and once the kids fell asleep, we could change it to something we'd actually be interested in. Not that Disney movies weren't interesting, it just gets tiring after watching them so often.

Just like last time Harry and I sat in the middle, but Danny insisted on being at my side, playing with a few blocks next to me, so Pen cuddled up to Harry. Frozen played on the screen, but my mind couldn't stay focused on the movie.

Harry's leg was pressed against mine and that alone was enough to make my mind race. I tried to focus on Danny playing with his toys, trying to distract my mind from lingering on the thought of Harry for too long.

30 minutes into the movie Harry nudged my leg with his own, pulling my gaze from the screen.

"Anastasia?" I turned my head to look at Harry, his eyes panned over my face a few times. "Are you alright? You seem... distant." He said softly. I nodded my head, avoiding eye contact. "Hey, come here." He whispered, pulling me into his arms.

I was uncomfortable, but so comfortable at the same time. It felt amazing to be held in his arms. I felt alive. We laid there, he held me in his arms, my head rested on his chest, I tried my best to calm my breathing, to calm my heart rate.

"I'm scared." I spoke truthfully, I was scared that I was falling for Harry. But I wasn't going to tell him that.

"Why? What are you scared of, love?" His voice was filled with concern.

"I-" Words didn't form at my mouth. "To be honest.." I started. "I haven't felt like this in a long time." I sighed. I was being vague, I knew he was confused but he respected me enough not to pry. He was listening, that's all that mattered. "You guys.. You make me feel like I'm home." I laughed, tears starting to form at my eyes. It was weird, I've never felt the need to cry over something so silly. But it was all true, my whole life I have never felt at home. I've never felt wanted.

"I'm.. not as perfect and put together as you think Harry." I said sadly. "I'm a mess, my life is a mess. A complete and utter mess. For the first time in my life, I don't feel like I'm completely falling apart." I sighed happily. "You... You did that for me. You make me feel.. good." I stated, as simple as I could.

Harry was quiet for a moment. I lifted my head, scooting away a little so I could prop myself on my elbow and look at his face. He stared at me intensely.

"Can I tell you something?" He whispered back. I nodded my head at him.

"Anything."

"For the first time since Danielle, I feel comfortable." He smiled. "Comfortable in my life, comfortable with my kids. Comfortable knowing that I have someone to figure out this life with. You are such a blessing to me and the kids." I lifted my hand up, placing it on his cheek, he closed his eyes and leaned into my touch. He placed his hand over mine softly. "You put me at ease. I.." He trailed off. He pressed his lips softly to my hand and sighed. "I don't know exactly what I feel to be honest, Anastasia. But I want to figure it out.. with you." He kissed my hand once again before turning his eyes to me.

That's all it took. Those few words, that's all I needed to know that I was absolutely and utterly in love with Harry Styles.

"How can she like him that much, she barely knows him!" Penelope sassed at the screen, referring to Anna eagerly wanting to get married to Hans.

I laughed. One, because what does she know or care about love and marriage at this age. Two, she's seen this movie a dozen times and she's never verbalized these concerns before.

My laughs were silenced when Harry hushed the small child. He bumped Pen with his shoulder and I watched as he glanced over at me with a small smile.

"You'd be surprised, Pen. It's a lot easier than you think."
