Chloe woke up feeling cold. It was pitch black and she couldn't see. She felt around until her hands were touching a door handle. It was locked.

"Come on." She groaned pulling the handle, "let me out!"

The door opened and Chloe's eyes widened in fear. Mrs Nelson was right in front of her.

"Now. . .Selena wants to play a game with you." She spoke.

"NO!" Chloe yelled backing away.

Selena walked in the dark room as Mrs Nelson locked the door. Selena had a wooden bat in her right hand.

"Come on Chloe let's play beat the brat." She evilly smirked, "and guess what? You're the brat."

Selena tackled Chloe and started to beat her brutally.

"Stop! It hurts!" Chloe cried.

"Cry all you want." Selena replied, "nobody will save you!"

"Daddy help!"

"Chloe wake up!" Yelled Sally.

Chloe shot up and opened her eyes. She was in a bed and Sally was next to her with a concerned look on her face.

"Chloe are you alright?" She asked.

The terrified 9 year old hugged Sally tightly and cried. Sally hugged her back.

Stickers wasn't kidding when he said she gets really bad nightmares, Sally told herself.

"It's okay I'm here." She told her.

"I hate sleeping." Chloe sniffled, "that's when the nightmares come out to play."

She wiped Chloe's tears and looked into her eyes, "how about we go to Flo's?"

Chloe nodded in response. They made it over to Flo's cafe and everyone was there.

"There's the cutie pie!" Flo smiled.

Chloe gently waved at everyone. Sarge and Fillmore were looking at the road. Chloe walked over to them.

"What are you guys watching?" She asked.

"Your dad." Fillmore answered, "he's pretty entertaining."

Chloe watched as McQueen was annoyed at putting asphalt on the road. Suddenly, the machine spit asphalt on McQueen.

"Aw come on!" He yelled.

Chloe giggled at McQueen. Flo walked up to her with a basket of chicken tenders, fries, dipping sauce, and a cold ice water.

"Here ya go hunny." Flo said, "you must be hungry from not eating all day."

Chloe took a bite and fireworks set off on her taste buds.

"Whoa! This is good!"

Everyone chuckled.

Chloe licked her fingers, "What's the sauce? It's sooooooo good."

"That's my famous onion ring sauce." Flo smiled,

"My taste buds are in heaven." Chloe smiled, "I've never had this good of a meal before."

"What does your dad feed you?" Luigi asked.

Chloe froze, "um. . . .he actually adopted me a few days ago."

Everyone looked at Chloe in shock.

"You're an orphan?" Sheriff asked.

"My parents died in a car crash when I was only a baby." Chloe explained, "ever since then I always lived in an orphanage."

"Is this your first time getting adopted?" Ramone asked.

Chloe gulped, "no. I've been adopted lots of times."

"Perché qualcuno dovrebbe riportarti indietro? Sei così divertente e adorabile!" Guido said. (Why would anyone take you back? You are so fun and adorable!)

"Let's just say that they adopted me for different reasons and I didn't like it." Chloe answered.

Chloe finished her food and looked at McQueen, "I'm just glad that someone like McQueen loves me so much like a real daughter. That's what we hope for as kids, right? For someone to love us with open arms as family."

The fire fighter shed a few tears from Chloe's words. The sun started to set and McQueen turned off the machine. He made his way over to everyone at the cafe.

"There's my little thunder." Lightning smiled as he rubbed her head, "thanks for watching her Sally. And thanks for feeding her Flo."

"No problem." The 2 women replied.

Chloe yawned and rubbed her eyes. McQueen picked her up.

"Goodnight everyone." He said.

As he walked to the motel with a sleeping child in his arms, everyone at the cafe was unsure if the young racer knew what Chloe had gone through.
