《Fast Cars Are All You Need》The Final Confrontation

The next day we enacted our plan, or at least we tried to. Dom dropped me off at the garage, and I gave him a kiss before he drove off. I hung out with the guys fixing cars until lunch, by this time Dom had already snuck into the office. I continued to work on the car I was fixing as the guys went to lunch. They left me alone for about an hour, but nothing happened. I knew he was outside watching, but he never got out of the car. When the guys got back he drove away. This continued for the next week until I finally got fed up with it.
I had been tossing and turning on my bed for most of the night so I decided to finally take my challenger for a drive. I could tell it needed a few things fixed so I drove over to the garage. Once my car was in the garage I closed the big door and started working on my car. About ten minutes later I heard the door to the garage open, and then close again, and turned to see Jared standing by the door.
“I was wondering when you were going to make your move.” I said looking around the garage to see where everything was placed.
“Did you think I wouldn’t know that brute you always keep around you was here? I knew he was just through that door the entire time waiting to rip my head off my shoulders.” Jared said pointing toward the office.
“So you caught on. I guess you finally learned to use more than just your fist.” I said taunting him. ‘It’s just like the fight with Hobbs or Dom.’ I said to myself, ‘Taunt him until he rushes me, use his momentum against him, then beat him till he stops move.’
He started walking toward me as I backed to where the heavier tools were sitting on the bench. He followed my every move as I continued to taunt him. Eventually he got close enough to grab me and threw me to the other side of the garage. ‘Damn it.’ I thought to myself getting back to my feet.
“So it’s going to be like that is it?” I asked and laughed when he started coming at me again. I had been carrying a knife on me just in case, but I wasn’t going to pull it unless I absolutely needed it. I dodged him when he went to grab me this time and punched him straight in the stomach. I watched his fist snake out and hit me in the jaw before I had time to dodge, and had to shake my head to get the sparkling lights to disappear from in front of my eyes. “That all you got?” I asked dancing away from him so he had to come at me again. He followed my every move in that same precise movement that he had always had about him. We exchanged a few more blows, some landing, and some missing.

“This the only way you can feel like a man now? Got to beat up on women to get your kicks. You’re just a sick twisted fuck with daddy issues. Did daddy not love you enough, or did he love you too much?” I said wiping the blood away from my forehead where he had smashed my head into the edge of a table. “I hope you know only one of us is walking out of here alive tonight.” I said, knowing I was finally starting to hit nerves. I watched as he finally lost his cool, and came rushing at me.
I grabbed his arm as he came running at me and used his momentum to throw him to the ground. Once he was down I followed him and started to repeatedly punch him in the face. When he started to fight back to much I grabbed one of the tools that were scattered around us on the floor and continued to hit him with it over and over until he stopped moving, until he wasn’t even breathing.
Once I knew he wouldn’t be moving I got off him and went to wash the blood off my hands setting the tool down on the top of my car as I walked by it. Once my hands were clean I went to work straightening the garage back up. I was still just going through the motions when Dom came squealing into the drive at 7:00 that morning. He had opened up the big garage door before taking one look around and slamming it shut again. I turned to look at him as he came in the small door. He was already on the phone with Hobbs.
“Don’t come any closer.” I said causing him to stop in his tracks, as I picked up the blood socket wrench that was on my car.
“Get here now.” Dom growled into his phone. He started to walk over to where I was but I spoke up again.
“I said don’t come any closer.”
He looked at me closer before walking back out of the garage to pass. I heard more vehicles pull up outside and people talking, but none of it really register. My body was still in fight or flight mode, and at the moment it really wanted to fight.
Hobbs was the next brave soul to walk into the garage, and I threw the first thing I could find at him. He had picked a really bad time to walk in because I was standing right next to the toolbox. I continued to throw tools at him, until he got close enough to hit. I swung out with the socket wrench connecting with his shoulder when he tried to dodge the hit. We went back and forth for a bit until he managed to wrap his arm around me and my arms.
“Dom, get in here.” he yelled as I struggled to try to get away from him. “You got any rope in this damn garage?”

I heard a few things move on the other side of the garage and then felt rope being wrapped around my arms and then my legs before I was set in a chair and tied to that. The entire time I kept yelling at them not to touch me and to leave me alone, but they wouldn’t listen. The others come in once I was tied down, and Hobbs told them that he was going to have to call the cops in.
Jen came over to me and knelt down in front of my trying to calm me down. The cops had arrived sometime in the middle of this, and started taking statements of the last few days. About how he had been stalking all of us, and about what I had told the guys about what he had done to me.
“Come on baby girl. You need to come back to us, or their going to lock you up for a long time.” Jen whispered to me. “You’re ok now, he’s dead, he can’t hurt you anymore.”
Letty walked over sometime in the middle of that, and I looked right at her. I cocked my head to look at her, she reminded me of something, but I couldn’t remember. What did I need to remember? I squeezed my eyes shut, and started shaking my head back and forth. “What do I need to remember? Why can’t I remember?” I whispered to myself.
“She the one that did this?” I heard one of the officers ask looking over at me. I didn’t hear an answer. “Answer the question, is she the one who did this?”
“No I did it.” I heard Dom say, that made me remember. I needed to remember Dom. He loves me, he would never hurt me, he’d never let anyone else hurt me either. I looked up in time to see them start to put Dom’s hands behind his back.
“No, he’s lying.” I yelled. “I killed him, and that camera will prove it.” I said, drawing attention to the camera in the corner.
“Bring me the tape.” The officer said to Dom. “Put the girl in cuffs.”
I felt my hands get placed behind my back, as the officer read me my right. Dom brought out the disc the camera recorded to, and put it in the computer in the counter. He played it for the officer and all it showed was him repeatedly coming at me. The camera didn’t have audio and I always had my back to the camera when I spoke.
“I’d like to take this into evidence, where is the murder weapon?” the officer asked turning to look at me. I looked around sheepishly before pulling it out of the back of my pants.
“Right here sir.” I said bringing my hands around a bit so they could see the socket wrench. An officer brought over an evidence bag and I dropped it into the bag. “There’s also a knife in my right front pocket. Dom would you get it out for the officers please?” I asked stepping away from the officer that was going to reach in my pocket for it.
“You did good.” He whispered in my ear where no one would hear as he pulled the knife out of my pocket and handed it to the officer. He wrapped his arms around me. “You won’t be in there long, I promise.” He said before backing away from me.
“It’s ok, Dom. I’m free now.” I whispered looking at where Jared’s body had been with a small smile on my lips.
“Let’s go miss.” The officer said taking my arm, and putting me in the back of the squad car. “Feel free to clean the garage and get back to business as usual. The video should be enough evidence.” The cop said before getting into the front of the car. “From what your friends have said, and what the video showed, you will probably just get a slap on the wrist if you plead temporary insanity.” The cop told me as he drove us to the jailhouse.
“Why are you telling me this?” I asked looking out the window.
“I had a sister that went through this same kind of thing, but she didn’t manage to get out until it was too late. She got out by ending up in the ground.” The cop started looking at me through the rear view mirror.
“When I first got with him I probably would have ended up in the same place, but after doing twelve years because of him things changed. I learned a lot on the inside, and I wasn’t the same little girl he used to know anymore. I just want to be free of him, and he kept coming around. He was threatening my friends. I just couldn’t do it anymore, and when he hit me I guess I just snapped.” I told the cop, and he just nodded my head.
“I’m going to put in a recommendation for you, on which judge you should go in front of. It’ll mean a couple extra days in jail, but he’s a good judge, and he’ll make sure to keep your previous record and those of your friends out of his opinions.”
“I’d like that.” I said as we pulled up to the jailhouse. He shut off the car and got out with his cop face back in place, before he pulled me out of the back of the car. Once I was checked in I was put in a suicide watch cell.

The Hopeful Project
A pair of twins stumble their way into the world of blood magic, lizard people, and cultivation powered mecha-armor. And by stumble, I mean one of them falls on their face while the other laughs. [Writathon Participant] People read this far? What are you doing down here? Escape! The chapter buttons are over there, stop reading this. No? Fine. This book is an excuse to put a world I spent around 3-4 months of my life building over the pandemic into writing. I was planning on doing the writathon last year, but somehow managed to confuse October and November. Dont laugh, I'm already ashamed enough. This book is about a pair of twins, doing twin things: calling each other names, going to school, learning how to use their blood to become unstoppable, juggernaut, killing machines... You know, twin stuff. It's like if someone stuffed a school arc inside of a tournament arc inside of a war arc. A good time, basically. I hope you enjoy it.
