《Secret Trio: A New Start (Old and discontinued)》Chapter 1

"What?! Why?!" Jake exclaimed as he ran towards his mother.
His mother bent down and said, "Gramps said someone needs you there, Jake."
It's August 20, almost the end of Summer. But for Jake, it already is. Jake's Grandpa said that he was going to Norrisville because of a mission. Jake wasn't sparred a thought. He can't even say goodbye to his friends.
Jake pleaded his mother and his father to rethink the decision, but they weren't the ones who'll decide.
"Get in the car, Jake," his father ordered.
"No!" he burst out, "this is my home! And my friends are all here! What about my training? Who'll keep the magical creatures in check?!"
"I'm on duty for that," Haley appeared from the doorway. She leaned as she watched her parents pack Jake's stuff.
Jake was hurt to see that his own family is going against him, at least that's how he felt. His mother just followed her father's orders. His father thought that following Gramps would keep Jake and his family safe, after he found out about this dragon blood line.
"Jake," Gramps came out from the house and walked towards Jake, "your training being a dragon is almost complete. Transferring to this little town will finish your training. You will need to find more than what I can teach you."
Jake's eyes teared up. He hugged his grandpa and asked, "will I come back?"
Gramps hugged back with a smile on his face, "of course you'll come back. You can visit us at night anytime. But don't miss your homework, young man!"
Jake chuckled and let go of his grandpa. He got in the car and looked at his family one more time. He waved goodbye as his dad drove away from his old home. He kept looking out of the window, recalling old memories, as the car drove past them.

The park, the skateboard park, his school, his friends' house, many memories indeed...
...
...
...
It was the first day of school, and Howard, Danny, and Randy were walking down the halls, laughing at a joke. "And then, he-" Randy was caught off, stumbling on something, or someone. "What the cheese!" he said, looking at what he had tripped on.
He saw a boy with tan skin, black eyes, and black hair with green highlights. The boy stood up and then dusted himself off. He looked at Randy and extended an arm. Randy took it and helped himself up eith the kid's hand to balance him.
When he stood up, he just noticed how, (I'm sorry Jake Fans), short he is. Howard and Randy can't contain their laughter. They burst out laughing. The boy seemed insulted. He let go of Randy's hand and then waked away.
Howard and Randy can't stop laughing until Danny slapped both the back og their heads, "knock it off you two. You didn'y even say sorry Randy."
"Sorry?" Howard chuckled, "well, he should say sorry. Sorry that he didn't SEE him becuase he's as short as cheese!"
The two were laughing on the ground, their stomachs hurting them with every cackle. Danny rolled his eyes and mumbled, "why am I even with you two?"
Danny sat near the window. Since Danny, Howard, and Randy basically have the exact schedule, they also arranged their own seats. Hward would be near the front to disract the teacher if something comes up. Randy would be in the back, so he would be somewhere in the last to go out. And Danny would be watching outside from the window.
Suddenly, a boy sat in front of him. He looked at him and then realized that he was that short boy Randy bumped into. The teacher came in and class begun.

He figured that the attendance was his chance of trying to be at least the acquaintance of this boy.
"Jacob Luke Long?"
"Here!"
After Danny got his name, he tore a piece of paper from his notebook and began writing.
He tapped Jake's shoulder and gave him the paper. Jake was a bit confused, but he still read it.
Hey, I'm Danny.
Sorry for the way my friends treated you. They're idiots. I know.
Jake chuckled and he wrote back.
I understand. It isn't easy dealing with idiots all day.
Danny and Jake were both chuckling, which caught the teacher's attention, "something funny Mr. Long and Mr. Fenton?"
"No sir," they both replied. The teacher sighed and continued on with his session.
The two boys smiled at each other, happy for making a new friend.

Paternum: A Superhero Story
When Quinn finds an experimental superpower-granting costume in their parents’ attic, they didn’t expect to be drawn into a web of superhuman intrigue, but their discovery serves as the catalyst for that conspiracy to slowly unravel. At it’s heart, Paternum is an extended coming-of-age story for the main character as they become a superhero, in a world with more reasonable stakes and less powerful heroes than many superheroic worlds. Themes include what art means to different people, and what it means to be a patron, whether as a sponsor, a parent, or a supporter. I consider Paternum‘s primary influences to be the various versions of Spider-Man, J. C. McCrae’s own superhero story Worm, and Drew Hayes’ story SuperPowereds. I hope that fans of such stories can find something to enjoy in mine as well. Paternum is primarily hosted on my website (thevoidwrites.com) where it updates weekly in groups of scenes totalling approximately 2000 words. Here on Royal Road, it will update once daily with one scene at a time, but only after each act is completed on the home site - the next batch of updates is scheduled to begin on February 5th. There is a discord channel for discussion (discordapp.com/invite/QFMM6yA), and you can vote for Paternum on topwebfiction (topwebfiction.com/vote.php?for=paternum) as well. Finally, you can buy the first book of Paternum, The Swift Uplifting Rush, in a couple different ways - as an ebook through Amazon, or directly from me for a discounted price, or as a physical paperback from Amazon. Buying the book will give you access to Drawing Hands, an exclusive arc that won't ever be published on either my site or Royal Road.
