《Sold To The Gangleader》Chapter 22

"I want to start school again." I blurt as we watch a movie. It's action called King Kong.

Both Donald and Kaleb snap their heads to me.

"Layla we've been over this, it's too dangerous for you." Donald exclaims.

I clench my jaw. "You want me to stay here ignorant with no job for the rest of my life? I can't rely on you all the time Donald!" I snap.

"No I-"

"Maybe he won't come after me."

Donald cocks an eyebrow. "I have a feeling he will."

"I have a feeling he won't." I bite back.

"He will."

I growl. "It's just school for god's sake! I'll meet up with you after every class and-" I jump when I hear the table infront of us being slammed.

"Like you said before, you can't rely on him all the time, so shut your fucking mouth and be grateful!" Kaleb snaps, just when Donald is about to speak.

Donald turns to me giving a sympathetic look, and I burn with anger.

How dare he fucking yell at me.

My lips begin to twitch as I resist the urge to yell.

"Who the hell are you to tell me that, huh? You are not my dad." I spit, angrily.

He laughs harshly. "Like you have one to compare with." He mutters and Donald gives him a big nudge.

Did he really just–

My face begins to boil with rage and I clench my fists, before I lift myself up.

"Fuck you, Kaleb." I grit, before I lift myself up and trudge up the stairs, tears trickling down.

What a fricking butthole.

~~~~~~~~~
A soft knock on the door awakes me from sleep and I sit up, wiping my eyes.
The door slowly creaks open and in comes Donald.
"He's gone now." He mutters softly and I nod and after some silence he talks again.
"Do you want to head to the shops with me?"
"Yes." I get off my bed and make my way to my wardrobe taking out Donald's black woolly hoodie, along with my own indigo jeans.
Donald raises an eyebrow, shaking his head before heading out.
I quickly change and make my way downstairs, putting on my black trainers.
Donald appears with a big puffy navy jacket and I stiffle a laugh, before opening the door.
"What's funny?"
"You look-"
"Cute?" He asks and I burst out laughing, he frowns and unlocks his car, I get in the passenger seat and he starts the engine, while I'm still laughing.
"Why are you laughing?"
I laugh louder covering my mouth as snorts begin to escape.
Donald begins to drive shaking his head, and after a moment I finally calm down, giggling here and there.
When we arrive, we enter the market. "What were you laughing about?" Donald persists.
"Your bum."
He scoffs, rolling his eyes. We do our shopping and I buy myself a big bag of rainbow drops.
All the while, I look around incase you know. HE was there. Or that little minion of his.
We head back home and I plop on the couch, already opening the pack.
"Eager are we?" Donald sits next to me.
I shove a handful in my mouth shaking my head.
"Not 'WE' just 'ME' you greedy pig." I mumble with my mouth full.
His top lip curls, his eyebrows raised. "Weirdo."
I open my mouth to say something, but I cut myself short when a loud thud is heard. I jump on Donald, forcing to swallow the drops, ignoring the grazing pain.
"What was that?!" I whisper yell, gripping Donald's shoulders.
He shrugs. "Let's go check it out."
"Stop speaking so loud! It might be HIM!"
"Well then we'll just have to see."
"Ugh fine, you go, I'll stay."
"You're coming with me."
"In your dre-" and then he lifts me up.
"Donald put me down!" I whisper yell, when he begins to walk towards the front door.
"Okay." and then he drops me making me plonk on to the ground.
I stand up and glare at him, rubbing my now sore ass and he chuckles.
"Bitch." I mumble, before facing the door.
I take a deep breath before flinging the door open.
No ones there.
I look around and find a yellow note wrapped around a rock.
How original.
I lean down and pick the rock up. I open the note and read its scruffy writing..
Fear washes over me and I gulp, scanning the street but I see nothing suspicious.
Someone's been watching me. Or should I say....'is..'
I crumple it up, scowling and turn around only to bump into Donald.
I look up to see him smirking,
I push him away lightly and head towards the bin.
As I'm about to chuck the note, Donald snatches it, opening and reading it aloud.
"Donald stop it!" I scream.
He laughs but then his face suddenly goes straight.
"This is from that guy Kieran isn't it?"
I don't bother correcting him and shrug. "Or it could be just a secret admirer. " I pout, fluttering my eyelashes, to lighten the mood.
He chuckles, "You don't even talk to guys, just me and Kaleb."
"Not true, I asked Gilbert for a pencil two months ago."
He hums, putting his finger to his chin. "I remember, you were a blushing mess." He smirks and I blush.
"Was not!"
He shrugs, still smirking.
"Wipe that smirk off your face before I rid your lips."
"C'mon. There's nothing to be ashamed of-"
"Can you give me a piggy ride?" I deliberately change the subject.
"What?" He asks, bewildered.
"I need to exercise-"
"What's that gotta do with-"
"Can you let me finish." I snap.
"So you just give me a piggy ride and just run around the house and-"
"I don't think it works like that."
"It does, don't worry I just weigh five stones-"
"Fine!"
"Real-"
"If you give me some of your rainbow drops."
"Nevermind." I plop down on the couch, grabbing my rainbow drops.
He chuckles. "Talk about exercise." He mutters as I shove more drops in my mouth.
And the whole note thing went out the window.
I park a good distance to where Layla is and get out.
She probably thinks she's all safe and sound, that I won't come after her. Dead wrong.
I'm just going to give her a little fright to show her how 'safe' she really is.
Kian throws the rock at their door and we lean back against my car, and soon the door opens.
I chuckle when I see Layla's small form, her face contorted with fear as she looks around rapidly.
Her eyes land on the the rock, and her eyebrows furrow as she leans down, hastily picking it up.
I watch her as her lips begin to sync as she reads, her top lip curling slightly, her nose wrinkling up. She lifts her gaze up and begins to frantically look around, but I'm too far for her to see.
A satisfied smirk spreads across my face and I open the door to my Audi, my eyes still glued to her.
She turns back around, bumping into someone in the process. I chuckle once again before entering the car.
I'll let her have her fun now.
But she'll be back with me.
