《His [COMPLETED]》(13) Don't get used to it.

.

Even going home was a battle with Kyle. He had to make sure I wasn't going to die on the way to the car, which was silly really considering we were merely only 100 yards away from his piece of metal.

"Kyle, for christ sake I can walk!" I snapped. I gave him a warning glare, hoping to God he would back off.

"Cali," he warned. "I'm just trying to-"

"Help me?" I finished. "Look, I appreciate it, but I can walk," I emphasised. "My mother didn't cut my legs off, luckily," I said dryly. Kyle's mouth twisted into a thin line.

"Don't joke about it, it's not funny," Kyle snapped. "Your life was at risk," I put my hands out in exasperation. I still hadn't left the room yet.

"I'm not joking about it!" I let out exasperated.

"Just do as you're told, Cali, try and make things a little easier," he replied, annoyed.

I shook my head and breathed through my nose. All I had to do was count to ten, and hopefully then I wouldn't have to punch him in the face.

I could walk fine, yet Kyle insisted he carried me to the car, which I rightfully declined. I didn't need his help, my legs could function.

I made a bee line for the door quickly, before he could tell me off for doing so. He was being ridiculous, he treated me like a piece of glass, I was only in hospital for less than 24 hours. I passed out from shock and the bump I received when I landed from the fall. It wasn't major, yet he might aswell of had put me in a plastic box.

"Get back here, you can make yourself worse," Kyle demanded while glaring at me angrily. I was slowly losing my patience, oh so very slowly.

"Stop being ridiculous!" I snapped. "I am fine!"

"You're in hospital!" He almost shouted incredulously. I gave him a blatant look.

"I wouldn't be in hospital if you would just move your ass and take me home without making a fuss!" I hissed. "If you hadn't realised, we're half way out and I'd love to just go home, Kyle, please!" I pleaded.

I hated the hospital, I always had. I hated the smell and how I was so isolated in one room. Kyle wouldn't let me get up all night, telling me I had to rest, when really all I wanted to do was move.

His shoulders slouched and his mouth had set into a thin line, again. He knew he had to give in, whether he liked to or not.

"Fine," he sighed in defeat. "But don't go running or anything, just take it slow okay?" I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah, yeah," I waved him off. His brow arched.

"I mean it,"

"You're not my mother," his body tensed and his eyes turned angry.

"And I'm so fucking glad about that," he whispered fiercely. I looked to the floor in guilt and embarrassment.

"I'm sorry," I apologised sincerely. I guess it was horrible of me to bring up my mother after all she had done infront of Kyle. Especially as he had this undoubtable hate for her.

"Just don't compare me to her," Kyle replied, flicking it off his tongue as if it stung him. "I wouldn't ever touch you or even think about doing what she had done to you,"

"I know, and I'm sorry I did that, it was selfish of me, really," he nodded and continued to briskly take the lead.

He absentmindedly took hold of my hand, entwining his fingers between mine. My breath caught in my throat while my fingers latched onto him. My heart was beating wildly, I'm astonished he couldn't hear it.

As soon as I was outside, the sun was shining, and I basked in that. And the outside world didn't seem all the scary as I had my hand in Kyle's.

He opened the door for me while I lowered myself onto the leather seats. He got in beside me, his jean clad legs sliding in.

"Do you want to go to your house?" He asked with concern edged onto his face as he put his keys into the ignition and took a look over at me.

I didn't know whether I did or I did not. Truth was, I had this feeling I wanted to spend more time with Kyle, even if he was an aggravating dick. Yet I knew that where ever we went he was staying with me anyway. But his house sounded so much more appealing. With this, I shook my head. He smiled reassuringly.

"You're coming to mine," was his only reply as he reversed onto the roads, they were surprisingly quiet.

I sighed and took a look out of the window.

"How are you feeling?" He asked sincerely. I wanted to roll my eyes at his constant panic for my well being, yet his caring side was something I loved, even if it did annoy me.

"I'm feeling better," I replied. Truthfully, I did feel better, mentally and physically, yet nothing could really help the presence of the initial scaring from what my mother had left. And that hurt.

Kyle could see this, when he glanced at my face, I knew he could see the pain in my eyes. His hand suddenly took hold of mine again, his thumb rubbing my skin soothingly as he drove.

"Do you need that hand to shift the gear?" I asked, completely ruining the moment, but he didn't seem to mind.

"No, I'd rather it be in your hand," he smiled. My heart fluttered.

"That's the nicest thing you've ever said to me," I joked. He chuckled, thankfully. His eyes were light with a questionable happiness.

"Well, don't get used to it," he replied. I pouted. He kept looking at me sideways while also trying to keep his eyes on the road.

"No more nice Kyle?" I asked, the playfulness still existent.

"I am nice," I scoffed.

"Yeah," I said sarcastically. He took a look at me.

"What do I have to do to prove it to you?" I shrugged my shoulders and smiled.

"Nothing, I believe you, I trust you," somehow this statement made the smile fall off his face, and his eyes turn serious. Had I said the wrong thing?

"You mean that?" He whispered.

"Meant what?"

"That you trust me?" His eyes showed a vulnerability I had never seen before, but before I could make sure his shutters had slipped over his eyes and he was back to playful Kyle, yet now I wasn't sure whether it was fake or not.

"Course I trust you, you fool," I replied. If was true, I did trust him, after all he had done for me, I couldn't repay him enough, he had my trust, I trusted him more than my own family.

"Good," was his only reply, and from then on I knew he was hiding secrets from me, I hoped he would tell me, I hoped I could help him if what I suspected was right. I didn't want him going through anything alone.

"Kyle?" He hummed in reply. "You know you can tell me anything, right?" I asked hesitantly. He smiled at me.

"Of course, you'll be the first to know about anything," that wasn't what I was exactly getting at, I didn't want to know so much about the future, I wanted to know his past.

It baffled me how much I didn't know him. He knows almost everything about me, but his profile was unknown, he was so secretive and closed.

"No, I mean, anything that has bothered you from the past," I muttered nervously. He suddenly stopped the car, we were home.

He sat there staring at the wheel for quite some time.

"Kyle?" He sighed as he turned towards me. He took hold of my hands, and I let him.

"Some things are just meant to be left in the dark, like an old toy, yet only the person who loved it will always help it see light again," was his reply. I looked at him, my eyebrows furrowed, confused.

"Meaning?"

"I'll only reveal my past when I totally and utterly love someone, because I believe they'll deserve to know," he whispered. "To know the real me,"
