《Let's fall in love (Story By PINKI)》Chapter 18

Arnav had been sitting in the university cafeteria, waiting for Karan for the past half hour as they were suppose to meet for lunch before getting back to their weekly schedules. Wednesday's were the only days they both had a spare together so they could sit and catch up on things as their schedules varied. Even though Arnav's wasn't as hectic as Karan's, considering Karan was going to med school, Arnav worked part-time for his dad's company which made his life just as busy.
As Arnav looked up to see Karan walking towards him, there was a dazed expression on his face.
"Have you been blazing?" Arnav asked Karan as he sat across from him, dropping his oversize bag on the empty chair and stethescope and other medical equipment on the table.
"No! I just left my practicum dude. What the F***!" Karan replied back furiously at Arnav's sudden question.
"Ok chill dude... your eye's are just a bit glazed so just wondering..." Arnav replied back while getting up to go grab his food.
Back in their high school days, both of them had tried smoking a joint however their reactions had been slightly different. While Karan had actually enjoyed it, Arnav had locked himself in his room that whole day, absolutely paranoid that someone would find out. Since that day, Arnav hadn't touched marijuana in his life again as he loved being in control over everything, whereas Karan had found it as a relaxer, especially while he was writing his medical entrance exams. Even though Karan said he never smoked again, Arnav had a feeling that he did once in a while as his expressions were sometimes a bit off.
As Arnav had watched Karan eat his lunch that day... he noticed the slightly trembling of Karan's hands and wasn't too sure what to make out of it. The following year, Karan had decided to skip a term in medical school as he felt the pressure was too much and decided that he wanted to take a break and work for awhile. As much as he tried to ask Karan in those days if everything was ok, Karan never said anything but it was about two years ago when Karan had told him about him getting addicted to marijuana and knowing that he could have got could kicked out of school because of it, he had taken the term off to get his act together and he had succeeded. He had always wanted to become a doctor and Karan had realized that it wasn't worth it to ruin his career over an illegal substance.

Arnav sat at his desk and looked over at Khushi who was working away, chewing on a pen as if it could fill up her appetite. For such a tiny frame, she had an appetite of an elephant, he mused. As he looked over at her, he wasn't sure if both of them working together was such a good idea anymore. Even though she was a great asset to the company, she was twice the distraction for him. An undeniable attraction was sizzling between them and he was finding it hard to keep a control over himself. She was acutely aware of it too and he knew that, but he was finding it hard to figure out how she felt about him. There were times when he would notice her staring at him when he wasn't looking but then there were also times when he would find her in her own world when he was around, forgetting that he even existed.
Turning his chair around, his eyes flew over to the hospital building and he wondered what the deal with Karan was. He knew for a fact that Karan wasn't doing drugs, otherwise he wouldn't have been practicing. So what else could have happened to make him run away and still had him running? Was he having an affair? That didn't seem plausible either as Arnav had seen how much he had loved Khushi. She was the only thing he would talk about when they were together and Arnav remembered that tinge of jealously he would feel every time Karan spoke about how perfect of a life partner he was being gifted and Arnav knew for a fact today that she truly was a gift from god.

Four hours later, Khushi ran around their room frantically trying to get ready while Arnav sat back on their bed and watched her from under his lashes, pretending to be busy on his laptop. Her hair was pulled back in a tight bun and her hair parted far on the left side. For a change, she had decided to put makeup on and that smoky eyeshadow was driving his senses crazy. As she walked out of the bathroom, dressed in a black net saree, Arnav almost choked on his own breath. Saying that she looked beautiful was an understatement. Perhaps, stunning? He wasn't too sure about that word either. As he stared at her, he felt her snap her fingers at him, breaking his chain of thoughts.
"Something wrong?" she asked him a little unsurely... not sure if she had overdid herself. She never really wore sarees and all of a sudden she felt a bit awkward. Salwar Kameez were her things however, it was Arnav's friends reception and she didn't want to look out of place or under dressed compared to all his friends wives/girlfriends.
Unknowingly, his hand moved up to her face, caressing her cheek gently. "You look perfect" he smiled at her and kissed her forehead gently.
"Let's go" and as he grabbed her hand to walk out of the house, she stood rooted to her spot, looking at him uncomfortably.
"Umm... I need a little help, I can't zip my blouse up" she told him as she raised her arm up. Why couldn't tailors put hooks like olden days? she wondered. Pulling a zipper from the armpit down was a lot more difficult than it looked. As he moved closer to her, the black against her creamy skin had his heart racing. Only if he could inch a little closer and place his lips on the skin there, but he knew that was wishful thinking for now. Though, somewhere in the hazy part of his brain he did realize that she was comfortable enough to ask him to do something like this without hesitation and that brought a smile to his lips. He pulled the zip down, tucked her saree back in place and walked out with her even though he was dreading the evening.
Karan was going to be there, and so were his Di and Jija ji. Over the past few days, he had been trying to collect information about his brother in law, but he hadn't been able to gather much. Over the past month, Shyam had flown down about six times however what he did while he was here, nobody knew. His stay was only about 2 hours each time and Arnav wondered what kind of work was he able to finish in that amount of time. His Di didn't know where he was going each time but all she knew was that he was going for work and she trusted him too much to care where he was really going. But, they were moving back in a week and Arnav knew that it would be easier to find out why Shyam was lying once they were living together, so he decided to hold off on him till then.
On the other hand, Karan had refused to meet him when Arnav had messaged him. His parent's hadn't spoke to him since the wedding day but Arnav did let them know that he was fine and back to work and that maybe he just needed some alone time. Being a doctor wasn't as easy as it seemed and he knew the kind of burden Karan carried around, even though he tried to present that nothing bothered him.

But tonight, he was going to focus his attention on his wife who was going to be meeting all his friends for the first time and with the way she looked, he definitely needed to keep her close to him. As he glanced over at her, she was sitting on her phone texting away with a smile on her face but looked towards him when she felt his stare on her.
"What?" she asked, her brows furrowed. She was nervous as hell as this was the first time they were going somewhere together since they had gotten married. She knew Karan was going to be there, and so were Anjali di and Jijaji. Arnav hadn't told her anything since that day about Shyam or Karan and she assumed that there wasn't much to it otherwise he would say something to her.
As they entered the reception hall, she felt heads flipping and turning towards them as if they were the bride and the groom, entering the party. Her hold tightened on his arm and he gave her hand a small squeeze.
"It's ok. I won't leave you alone... promise" he smiled down at her as they started to mingle with everyone around. She noticed some people awing at how good they looked and some curious glances probably because of the way their wedding happened. Her heart almost stopped beating, when she noticed Karan walking towards them, with a glass of whiskey in his hand. He's drunk, she thought nervously which was definitely not good with the way he had been ignoring Arnav.
"Hello Khushi, Hello Arnav" Karan stood infront of them, slightly stumbling. Arnav's other friends moved away, giving the three some privacy. Khushi smiled at him and nodded in response while Arnav extended his hand for a handshake which Karan ignored.
"You look gorgeous" Karan winked at Khushi and Khushi awkwardly smiled at him.
"How are you Karan?" Arnav asked, trying to divert Karan's attention from Khushi but he knew that was going to be a difficult task.
"I wasn't talking to you yet, Arnav. Your turn will come too, don't worry" he told Arnav, dismissing him. "Can I have a word with my ex-fiance?" he asked, while Arnav's first clenched and before he could tell Karan to go to hell, Khushi spoke up.
"We can talk here, Karan. It's just Arnav" she replied smiling at him, looking up at Arnav. Arnav walked her over to a table and Karan followed, slightly staggering making Khushi's heart pound even more. This was someone's wedding reception and they definitely didn't need a scene here. She squeezed Arnav's hand lightly under the table, and he blinked at her, assuring her that he was there and everything would be ok.
"So, as Arnav asked already, how are you Karan?" Khushi asked Karan while Arnav sat there with a straight face. Karan looked at the couple sitting infront of him and jealousy coursed through him like a wildfire. Giving Khushi a glare, Karan got up and walked away.
"Forget it..." Arnav mumbled looking at Karan stumbling away, while squeezing her hand and they both got busy conversing with other couples till Anjali and Shyam came. As hard as Khushi tried to pay attention to what Anjali was saying, it was hard since she could feel Karan's gaze on her back and Shyam giving her weird looks across from her. Maybe jijaji is just drunk, she thought. She had tried to keep her eye out to see if Karan and Shyam talked but they didn't even look at each other and she wondered if she was wrong about the whole thing about them meeting each other. Telling Anjali that she was just gonna go to the bathroom, she walked away as she could feel the beads of sweat appear on her forehead and upperlip now from all the stares she was getting.
Arnav's gaze followed Khushi till she got to the bathroom and looked around for Karan but didn't see him anywhere. Deciding to give Khushi a few minutes, he kept looking towards the bathroom and when she didn't come out after a couple of minutes, he excused himself and walked towards the bathroom. He could hear some mumbling and he increased his pace and walked into the ladies bathroom but found it empty.
"What the! where did she go?" he wondered as he frantically looked around for Khushi, going through each stall. He ran out of the bathroom and looked outside and walked towards the venue but she wasn't there either. F***, he swore under his breath as he looked around, not knowing where she could have went, when his ears caught the mumbling again. He ran towards the back of the hall and he stopped breathing when he saw a frantic Khushi pinned against the wall and Karan holding her wrists tightly. She was moving her face side to side, trying to keep his face away from hers while Arnav heard him swearing on her life that he didn't do anything on purpose and that he was tricked or something.
The next second, she felt Karan's body being pulled away from hers and a visibly enraged Arnav standing over Karan, ready to beat the crap out of him but before his fist could get to Karan's face, he felt Khushi's hand on his shoulder and he stopped.
"Stay away from her" Arnav spat out before he grabbed Khushi's hand and walked towards the parking lot and once they were out of everyone's sight, she felt herself being hauled into his arms as he held onto her tightly. She clutched onto his suit jacket and breathed in his scent, trying to control her breathing. His hold around her tightened and his arms moved up and down her back, trying to stop her shivering.
"I am so sorry, so sorry...I should have known..." he mumbled into her hair and pulled back and looked down at her. She stared at him wordlessly and the next second, he slammed his lips onto hers, kissing her urgently. Khushi felt her legs give away and as he felt her body giving up, he hooked one arm under hip steadying her against his body. Breathing harshly, he pulled back and looked over her to make sure she wasn't hurt.
"Are you ok?" he asked her again, looking at her dazed expression.
"I....ummm I am ok.... It was my fault. I knew he was drunk and he tried talking to me but I decided to walk away and he just...." but he didn't let her finish as he sealed her lips with his again and kissed her ever so slowly, nibbling on her sweetness, savoring her taste. She clutched onto his jacket as his lips devoured hers and when he took her bottom lip between his teeth, she sighed and he didn't waste a second as he plundered her mouth, his tongue clashing with hers, making her forget all her surroundings except for the burning desire that rose in the pit of her stomach.
"That's no excuse" he told her sternly as he pulled away and she looked up at him dazed, not sure what he was talking about. What did she just say to him? Her hazy brain couldn't gather her thoughts as she held onto him even tighter. Grabbing her hand, he started walking towards their car and as he was about to call Anjali to tell her that him and Khushi were going home, when she stopped him reassuring him that she was fine and when she promised that she wouldn't leave his side, even to go to the bathroom, he walked to the hall, holding onto her hand tightly, unaware of the eyes that had seen everything transpire between them.
The rest of the night went by uneventful as Karan seemed to have disappeared. As they drove back home, with Anjali and Shyam with them as they were going to be flying back the next morning, Khushi noticed the quietness at the front of the car between Arnav and Shyam while Anjali chatted away, unaware of the tension brewing between the rest of the members in the vehicle.
Kicking her heels off, her exhausted form barely made it to the room with Arnav trailing behind her. Walking to the closet, she was about to take her night clothes out, when she heard the door to their room lock after they both yelled their goodnights to Anjali and Shyam and the next second, she felt herself pinned against the closet door.
"Arnav? What..." but her train of thoughts halted when she felt both his hands reach under her saree, caressing her waist.
"Ssshhh..." he whispered as he trailed kisses from the side of her neck, down to her shoulders. Removing the safety pin that was holding her palloo up, he threw it somewhere on the floor, as he spun her around, his chest pressing against her front.
"You looked gorgeous tonight..." his voice was like a caress against her neck and she held onto his biceps, trying to steady herself. He pressed light kisses from her shoulder down to the curve of her neck as he slowly slid the paloo out of place but before it could drop to the ground, she grabbed it against her chest and looked up at him, a little nervous.
"It's ok sweetheart... let me see you." His hands now held onto hers, which were clutching her paloo and he slowly moved her hands downwards, pulling the paloo along.
"Are you drunk..." she asked nervously, not remembering if he had drank at the party or not when she felt his hands moving up her bare back.
His hands halted and he pulled back, looking down at her and noticed the nervousness. She looked up at him, her eyes unsure reminding her of the first time Karan had tried to kiss her in his drunken state. She had walked off on him and when Karan had woken up the next morning feeling like a heel and apologized to her over and over, she had walked off on him and since then he had always been a bit nervous to get closer to her.
"No... I actually only drink on my friends stags... I don't drink casually like that..." he told her looking into her eyes, caressing her face softly, his thumb rubbing her lower lip.
"Oh" was all she could muster when she felt his hands moving from her face, towards her shoulders and down her arms. He grabbed her arms and placed them around his neck and slowly moved her over to the other side of the room, switching the light off. She could barely make out his features from the moonlight but the desire in his eyes was crystal clear and she didn't need any light to notice that.
"Can I have a dance with you?" he whispered in her ears and she looked back and laughed.
"We don't have music Einstein!" she told him laughingly but her laughter died the next second when she felt his hands at her waist, slowly untucking her saree from the petticoat.
"I don't need need music to dance with you." His voice was hoarse now and she slightly trembled in his arms as he untucked the saree and let it fall to the floor at their feet. He swayed her body with his as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Feeling her relax against him, he pulled her body even closer and reached for the pin in her hair which was holding it up. In one swift motion, he pulled the pin, letting her hair cascade down her back and buried his face in her tresses, breathing in her light, delicious scent.
"Arnav...." She started tentatively, his hands and lips driving her crazy now. She didn't know what she wanted to say but the words just escaped her as she buried her cold nose further into his neck.
"Yes love..." he murmured against her ear and felt her shiver.
"I'm kind of cold" she pouted against his neck and felt his chest rumble in laughter.
"Way to ruin the moment Khushi Singh Raizada" he laughed and his eyes twinkled some more before he pulled her away from him and walked to their closet to grab her some clothes.
Mwahahaha... Ohh I know I totally ruined their moment at the end! However, I might just continue with it in the ne

The Infinity Project
Infinity would be the greatest achievement of contemporary game development. A new, next-gen VR system, with many games available on startup. Created by many companies working under a single group - Demiurge Forge Incorporated, a well known even if rather eccentric company. ... and then things went downhill. Horribly so. Now playing the game is not a matter of entertainment... but of survival. In one of the most detailed - and sadistically abusive - settings in history of VRMMORPGs.
