Katsuki's lonely birthday.
.
.
.
Katsuki hated birthdays, he knew them to be boring, and sad. Pretty lame to celebrate being born- how selfish.
Katsuki hated parties.. mainly birthday ones.
.
.
.
Katsuki never understood the point of birthdays. They did not make sense. In l fair case he didn't have many birthdays growing up.. or at all if he remembers correctly... What is a birthday?
.
.
.
Katsuki remembers one time when he was young, it might have been his birthday.. it must have been... he remembers begging his mom for a birthday party.. all his friends were having awesome parties and he never had one.. his mom didn't like parties.. at all.. but he remembers asking her so many times that she finally agreed.
He remembers being excited.. inviting as many people as he possibly could. Everyone he ever knew. Ever shitty Deku. Katsuki remembers planning the whole thing with his cranky and very pissed off mom.
It was perfect in his young eyes, a dream come true. His first birthday party.
Then.. he waited. A huge and bright smile as he stood next the door with a party hat on his head. Katsuki checked the window every five minutes, pure excitement running through his veins.. he checked every five minutes for a few hours, every hour his smile began to lose its shine.. his eyes dull... he waited til dark.. and nobody came. Not even shitty Deku.
"It's your fault for being so damn annoying. Serves you right." Mitsuki growled as she stomped around her house picking up some of the party decorations Katsuki excitedly placed around the house.
Katsuki didn't understand, he made sure everyone would be pleased.. he made sure of allergies, struggles.. any issues.. Katsuki wanted to spend his first birthday with friends.. yet all received was shots to his heart, further shattering a broken heart.
It was Katsuki's first and last birthday party. He made sure of it.
So every year during his birthday he pretended it didn't exist. He didn't go to their birthday and they couldn't even try to go to his. Cause he swore he would never have one again.
.
.
.
Katsuki sighed, his birthday was only a few days away. Dreadful, a cursed day it was. Izuku was the only one to know Katsuki's birthday yet he never said anything.. but not that Katsuki minded. It was better that way. Less attention for him to deal with on that pathetic day anyway. His parents are not any better, his mom hates his birthday.. and his father just listens to whatever his mom says. Katsuki also didn't mind that, he did not care that he was alone. It was better off that way.
It would never happen again.
Never.
Katsuki would never allow himself to go through that again.
Ever.

Mina was sitting in her dorm room, she was bored. She began to think about her friends and their efforts to befriend the ash blonde, Bakugou. They stayed close, had lunch with him, sat next to him, and tried to talk to him. Though the blonde just stayed to himself, not really caring about the world around him.
They wanted nothing more than to cheer up the sad little blonde. They wanted to make him smile, he might not seem sad but the group of friends knew otherwise. Or at least they think. In truth they wanted nothing more than to just befriend the ash blonde and see him smile. Mina and her friends always hear their classmates whisper about Bakugou as if he wasn't two feet away from them. It made them sick. Bakugou was a bit rough around the edges yet that doesn't mean you talk shit about him. Bakugou might come off rude yet it's not like anyone is making it easy for him.

Mina just found it ridiculous and her friends agreed. The only jokes about Bakugou will be made by them... after they become the best of friends of course.
Sighing, Mina though for a moment... It's been a while and the Ash blonde still hasn't shown a genuine smile or heart filled laugh. They were determined to see it and hear it. No matter what. So she arranged a meet up with her friends, to see what they could do. It needed to be perfect. They couldn't allow him to be alone. They just couldn't.
.
.
.
"Listen to me boys," Mina said as she walked back and forth in front of her friends.
"Yes Ma'am!"
"Today! And I mean today! We will finally get Bakugou to become our friend! We will make this boy happy if it's the last thing we do!" Mina yelled as if the boys were thirty feet away from her.
The boys nodded their heads swiftly, interested in what she had to say.
"How will we do that?" Kirishima asked with his usual toothy grin.
"Yeah! We tried so many things!" Kaminari complained.
Sero smiled softly, "Not hard enough."
"Well.. I'm not sure how yet... but I did notice that Bakugou seems to know Deku a little more than they tell us. So I say we start there."
The boys nodded in agreement.
That's where they'll start.
.
.
.
"Hey Deku!" Mina yelled as she spotted the green haired boy.
"H-hey?" Izuku muttered softly as he looked at the group heading towards him at full speed.
Kirishima smiled brightly, "We need to talk to you!"
"I-I noticed." Izuku mumbled sheepishly.
"Anyway!" Kaminari giggled as they tripped over each other's feet.
Izuku looked confused as the group tried to control their laughter to the best of their ability then began to speak again.
"Bakugou. Tell us what you know about him."
Izuku looked shocked, "Hah?!"
"You know him right? Y'all seem to know something." Mina asked quickly.
"Do you know why he seems ever more down than usual?" Kirishima asked right after.
"Tell us!" Sero chanted.
Kaminari followed behind, "Tell us!"
"I-oh dear.. he wouldn't like me talking about him.." Izuku mumbled, looking around to make sure Katsuki wasn't around.
Mina rolled her eyes, "So you do know him!"
Izuku stuttered, "W-well yeah.. kinda."
"Kinda?" Sero asked, annoyed that Izuku was being so blunt.
Izuku sighed, "S-sorta grew up with him... I guess."
"How do you sorta grow up with someone?" Kaminari asked, his cheeks puffed in frustration.
"Yeah! That doesn't make any sense Deku!" Mina pouted, annoyed at how annoying Deku was being.
"W-well.. uh.." Izuku mumbled hesitantly as he continued to look around the room.
Sero groaned, "Spit it out!"
"Well.. our parents knew each other.. so we knew each other... I guess you could say we played together with the other neighborhood kids.. he used to be boastful and confident... but around six or seven... he stopped talking to everyone... didn't really want to hang out.. he just stopped." Izuku said softly, rubbing his neck sheepishly.
"Anything else..?" Sero asked.
"I-I uh.. his birthday is in two days. But he doesn't like his birthday! S-so... you didn't hear any of that from me!"
The group of friends thought for a moment they began to walk off.
Mina laughed, "Okay then! Bye Deku!"
Kirishima smiled, "Thanks bro!"
Izuku just watched as the group of friends walked off, he was so confused about what it's happened.

Katsuki sighed, another day of hearing everyone talk about how much of a monster he was.. he was very hot headed... yet you barely heard him speak a word. They had no right to judge him when he barely spoke a mere four sentences. They instigated him anyway. It wasn't his fault. Not completely anyway... it didn't matter anyway. Katsuki was going to be brave.. for himself. Prove to everyone who ever talked down on him.. that his anger doesn't define him. He defines himself.
.
.
.
"A birthday?! We have to throw him a party!" Kaminari said happily as they walked back to the dorms.
Mina thought for a moment, "Didn't Deku say he hates parties?"
"Well.. Midobro also hasn't said much to him since he was young sooo.."
Mina nodded, "Fair enough."
Sero laughed, "Let's start this shit!"
"Hell yeah!" They all cheered.
A birthday party is what they were gonna do. With just them... it'll be perfect. They'll make sure of it.
.
.
.
Katsuki sighed, it felt ever more quiet.. the group of kids that usually bothered him.. wasn't bothering him.
Well they didn't bother him.. more of stuck around him as much as possible... not really doing any harm. Though they weren't around this time.. usually they were.. yet Katsuki had no clue where they were.. not that he was worried... he was just wondering.
It was kinda nice to hear them.. to know at least someone didn't give up on him.
Or whatever. Like he said he didn't need anyone. So whatever.
Oh.. he almost forgot.. today was his birthday. A shame.
Didn't matter.. Katsuki sighed, he needed a jog. He needed this day to be over with.. he needed to be away from the dorms.. he just needed something.. anything.
.
.
.
"Did you get it?"
"Yup! Did we get those, though?"
"Hell yeah!"
"Sweet!"
"Did you two set that up though?"
"Almost done!"
"Awesome! Just a few more things."
"He shouldn't be back til tonight anyway so we should be fine."
"Got it."
"Let's finish this."
.
.
.
Katsuki didn't do much jogging.. he just sat on a bench.. looking down at the birthday text from his pathetic father. He ignored it... the first time in years he got a birthday message. Katsuki just ignored it. They didn't care.. Nobody cares..
Katsuki sighed, controlling his anger to the best of his ability... as he stood up.. making his way slowly to the dorms.
He was empty. Everything felt empty.
He felt dreadful. Katsuki was in a constant state of dread.
What a pathetic hero in training...
Katsuki took the long way back to school.. he couldn't stand the feeling of seeing others happy.. and enjoying themselves amongst each other. It made him feel bad for himself.. and he shouldn't.. like his mother said.. It was well deserved that he is alone. Katsuki deserved nothing more than to suffer.
Birthdays were childish... Katsuki never deserved one... he didn't deserve anything good.
He.. was just so fuckin pathetic. Everything was pathetic. Sighing once again he continued to walk.
The walk seemed ever slower as he watched the sun disappear.. leaving line of sight. It was pretty.. he wished he could disappear like the sun..
Dragging his feet slowly, his mother would be so disappointed. It took a while, it was dark and the star ya began to glow when he made his way back to school.
The hallways were silent.. not a single noise to be heard.
He walked to the kitchen to grab a drink before making his way to the common room.. nobody should be in there so he should be fine.
Or so he thought.
.
.
.
"Suprise, mother fucker!" The group of friends yelled loudly, despite it being late at night.
Katsuki was shocked at the sudden noise.. he looked around the room to see a few familiar faces.. Katsuki couldn't help but smile at the fact that they yelled mother fucker late at night.. on school night.. It made him laugh. A lot.
The group of students.. the ones who stood by him despite the rumors... were making a surprise birthday...
Tears fell from his eyes... it almost looked like the party he made ten years ago.. the one nobody showed up too. Katsuki could die a happy man.
"Happy birthday!" Kirishima and Kaminari yelled at the same time.
"Welcome back, birthday boy!" Sero cheered as he put a birthday hat into Katsuki's spiked hair.
"We got you gifts!" Mina cheered as she held up brightly wrapped boxes.
Katsuki smiled, the group of idiots who wouldn't leave him alone.. a group he was so grateful for... maybe he will keep some friends... and maybe he'll celebrate his birthday..
But he will definitely keep these bunch of idiots around.
.
.
.
"And that's how the Bakusquad was made.." Katsuki said softly, telling the story from how he remembered it.. keeping out some of the other un-important parts.
Katsuki skipped the self loathing parts as well. He didn't need the young ones to hear about his troubles.
"Tell us again!" A child cheered, bright sparkly eyes looking at him.
"Yeah! Tell us!" Another child cheered, much darker eyes yet filled with just as many sparkles.
Katsuki sighed softly as he ruffled each of their hair, one with soft curly hair, their hair darker than their bright eyes.. specks of different colors.. the other just as soft yet their hair spikey.. their hair was lightly colored.. the complete opposite of their eyes.. both sweethearts. They may have been adopted but they looked so similar to the others... it was magical almost.
Katsuki smiled softly and looked at the two children peeking from under the covers in excitement, "Maybe.. but I have a better idea.. how about you two go to bed.. and tomorrow they will tell you their version of the story? Hmm? How does that sound?" Katsuki explained.
"Why not tonight?" Asked the child with brightly colored eyes.
Katsuki laughed softly, "Cause they aren't home... busy making the world a better place.."
"Okay.. but promise they will tell us tomorrow night?" Asked the other child, holding out their pinky.
Katsuki giggled, "Promise!"
.
.
.
"Told them the story again?" Kirishima asked as he put down his hero attire.
Katsuki smiled, "They love it."
"We love it too.." Sero mumbled as he jumped onto the bed, cuddling into the sheets.
"I'm glad.. cause you have to tell them your version tomorrow night." Katsuki giggled,
"Accompany us?" Mina asked as she washed the makeup off her face.
"What type of question is that? Of course, dipshit." Katsuki mumbled softly as he got comfortable in the multiple pillows and blankets, ignoring Sero who kept trying to pull Katsuki into his arms.
"An important one." Kaminari said happily as he put a towel to his wet hair, fresh out of the shower.
Katsuki rolled his eyes but smiled.. he closed his eyes, allowing himself to be pulled into Sero's arms who kept complaining about how cold it was.. an excuse to cuddle.
Katsuki tried to sleep.. but as usual each took their sweet time making their way into the bed.. insisting they all be right next to each other. Close as possible.
Not that Katsuki minds... they would make it up every year during his birthday... recreating his 16 birthday each year.
Each year it was better. Every year he appreciated it.
