7 days.
No more, no less.
7 days is what he decided, and he wasn't going to change it.
Who was going to stop him?
Nobody.
It's not like they can determine how long. Katsuki wasn't going to tell them about the surprise anyway.
They would have to wait 7 whole days.
If Katsuki had to wait, then so did they.
Not that they would know of the surprise, it wouldn't be a good surprise if he told them would it?
Katsuki just needs a week.
7 days was all that he needed.
It shouldn't be that hard, waiting for a week should be easy.
How hard could it be, truly?
.
.
.
Turns out it was very hard... the first day felt terrible. Katsuki didn't think he was an impatient person until he started this countdown. Turns out he indeed was very impatient.
.
.
.
Katsuki awoke on the second day in a horrible mood. Nightmares that had bothered since he was young were particularly worse that night. After he awoke from the nightmare he had a hard time trying to calm down, his eyes wouldn't close. And if they did.. he just remembered the horrible pictures, the dream he wished he could get away from.
It seemed like everything didn't want the count down to continue. As if his surprise wasn't good enough, as if they didn't want it... yet Katsuki still had his mind set on the prize despite what he was thinking as he pushed it into the back of his head.
Regardless, Katsuki believed his surprise would be the best in the world. It only took a couple years to finish the finial details of his plan but now he had all the right stuff for it.. and more people he can share it too.

Sharing is caring as they always say.
Katsuki indeed was caring. Katsuki's father told him so.. so it must be right.
The rest of the day didn't go well either, everyone was yelling and screaming about something.. Katsuki could never figure out what it was.
.
.
.
The third wasn't very different.. except the nightmares had gotten slightly worse, he had woken up in a sweat.. he felt as if he was water dumped all over him. Katsuki took a while to catch his breath as he awoke.. he doesn't even remember anything from the dream.. he just knows that he never wants to experience that again.
Katsuki once more had to waste the day away, barely leaving the room.. nightmares had scared him from leaving the safety of his bed.. at least he can continue looking over his plan as he wasted the day away hiding underneath pillows and blankets.
Katsuki had wondered why his friends hadn't come into his dorm.. was he to worry? No. Not at the moment, he was too busy obsessing over his plans, and he hiding from his dreams.
.
.
.
Day four was no easier, Katsuki felt as if he was dying. The lack of movement made his body hurt. He had been drinking his bathroom sink water, that's how desperate he was. Running to the bathroom for water then running back for safety.
Another day wasted away hiding, wondering if his nightmares were reflecting his deep thoughts that he had pushed away.
Weird thoughts Katsuki had, he tried to keep them away. He just needed three more days. Three more days and the surprise will be revealed.
If he could last that long, he truly felt as if he was going crazy. He wasn't trying to be dramatic, but sometimes his brain got the better of him.

Just like his father had always said, "The brain likes to trick us, so we like to trick it back."
Katsuki smiled through his exhaustion... he had the perfect trick for his brain. He just needed three more days.
Three more...
.
.
.
The fifth day seemed longer than the rest. Maybe that was because he tried to stay awake to escape the dream that turned him crazy but he thought that plan backfired... he felt even more crazy as he ran from his bed to his closet to make sure nothing was in it.
The nightmares of basic childhood fear never left him alone.. but they never were this bad. Not that he remembered at least. Katsuki has always been scared of basic childhood fears... the dark... monsters under the bed, in the closet... and so much more.. but even while he was young they never had gotten so bad that he couldn't function.
What happened?!
Why is it happening?!
And what was that noise?!
.
.
.
The sixth day he could barely keep his eyes open.. the lack of sleep was driving him crazy. Was it punishment for dragging out the plan he created?
Was it because he was being selfish by waiting a week?
Regardless if it was selfish or not, he was still going to finish the last day. He doesn't change his plans when life puts him down, he works through it. He finds a way.
Even if it's childish nightmares that are in his way. The fake arms that reach out to him in the middle of night since young may still bother him.. but he will find a way.. he is sure of it.
Katsuki's burning eyes blinked as he stared at the roof of his dorm room... the only thing he could hear.. were his own thoughts and his rough breathing.
Just one more day... he had to wait... he could have just don't it early.. but that would have gone against everything he stands for...
So.. let's see how this last night is going to treat him.
.
.
.
Surprisingly the seventh night went well. Katsuki had let his eyes close for barely a second.. and he saw everything he had ever dreamed of... every smile.. every laugh.. all the happiness everyone had after he had completed his surprise.
After that moment he knew he had to go through with his plan regardless of the doubt he had faced.
Katsuki felt as if he was in clouds.. if only he could reach them.
Katsuki smiled, maybe he could..
.
.
.
Katsuki made a few last minute changes to his plan.
Instead of his original way.. he decided he will head for the clouds... hopefully they will be the last thing he sees.
So as he took his last step off the building he learned to love.. he opened his eyes and was met with a clear sky.. No clouds to be seen.
A tear fell from his crimson eyes.
He really wished he could have seen clouds more last time.
. . .
At least he didn't go past the due date for the surprise.
