Teddy PoV

It was 4 O'clock in the morning, the day after the incident with my father, everyone was shaken up after what happened, and I felt like I was on edge.

I was sitting on the windowsill, but I didn't have a coffee, because I was still very jumpy from what happened the day before, so I figured that the coffee would make me more jumpy, Soph then walked in.

"Hey, are you ok Sweetie?"

"Yeah I'm ok, are you ok though Uncle Teddy?"

"Yes Darling I'm ok"

"I'm sorry that your Daddy hurt you yesterday"

"Aw Sweetheart, you don't need to apologise, you didn't even do anything wrong"

"Uncle Teddy"

"Yes Soph"

"Are we a family?"

"I don't know, do you want us to be a family?"

"Yeah"

"Then we are a family Sweetheart, as long as you want us to be one"

"I didn't know that families worked like that Uncle Teddy"

"Families are a lot more complicated than we first think"

"Are your parents still together Uncle Teddy?"

"No they're not together anymore, though to be perfectly honest with you Sweetheart, they should've split long time before they actually did"

"Ok Uncle Teddy"

Soph then sat on my lap, as I guess that standing up was starting to get a little bit too tiring for her, so I didn't question it.

"Uncle Teddy"

"Yes Sweetie"

"Do you think that you will marry Daddy someday?"

"I would like to marry him when the law allows us to get married"

"Wait, the law won't let you and Daddy marry each other?"

"No, not at the moment Sweetheart"

"That's just really stupid!"

"I know it is Sweetie, I know but sometimes there are things that we can't control that stop us from doing the things that we want to do"

"But why would they even have a rule like that in the first place?"

"Because they're idiots"

"Is that the nice version of what you want to say Uncle Teddy?"

"Well yes, but calling people names doesn't change anything Darling"

"I guess not Uncle Teddy"

We sat there for a while in a comfortable silence, and while I wasn't thanking any Gods or anyone else like a God, because I wasn't religious in the slightest, I was thankful that nobody else got hurt because of that fucking arsehole that is unfortunately my father.

"Uncle Teddy"

"Yes Soph"

"Do you sleep much ever?"

"No, not really Sweetheart"

"Why is that?"

"Well Darling, it's because my body apparently doesn't like me sleeping that much"

"I don't want to ever be an adult, it sounds like it sucks a whole lot to be honest with you Uncle Teddy"

"(Snorts), I'll let you in on a secret here Sweetheart, nobody ever wants to be an adult, but if nobody acted like an adult, the world would be in more chaos than it is now"

"Oh"

"Yeah, but you don't have to worry about that for a little while yet Sweetheart"

"But I only have 7 years until I'm an adult though Uncle Teddy"

"(Snorts), where did you hear that Darling?"

"I didn't actually hear that from anywhere Uncle Teddy, but 14 was the age that Daddy was when I was born"

"Sweetheart, 14 years old isn't an adult"

"It isn't?"

"No, you're not an adult until you're 18"

"Wait, so you, Daddy and Auntie Jade have only been an adult for 3 years?"

"You're right about Daddy and I Sweetheart, but not about Auntie Jade"

"Is Auntie Jade older than you then you and Daddy Uncle Teddy?"

"(Snorts), no, no, Sweetie, Auntie Jade is almost a year younger than Daddy and I?"

"Are you all in the same school year then?"

"Yes Sweetheart, we were all in the same school year together"

"I actually learned something today, and I didn't even learn it in school"

"(Chuckles), I'm glad that I can be useful sometimes"

We looked out of the window for a little while since the weather was actually pretty nice to look at that morning, also nobody else was up.

"Uncle Teddy"

"Yes Darling"

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Of course you can Sweetheart"

"Is it ok with you if I call you Dadala?"

"Does your Dad know that you want to call me Dadala?"

"Yes he does, he said that I should ask you about it to see if you were ok with me calling you that"

"You can call me whatever you feel comfortable with calling me Sweetheart, ok"

"Ok Dadala, I love you"

"I love you too Sweetheart"

Soph then turned the tv on to watch some cartoons, and I made myself the first coffee of the morning, as I felt jumpy then I did when I woke up, so I thought of that as progress towards not letting what happened the day before effect me that much.
