《Here comes Teddy》Work (Fifty-six)

Teddy PoV

I was at work, it was about half 2 in the morning, and I was bored out of my fucking mind, because the only thing I was actually doing at that ungodly hour was making sure that the temporary traffic lights were working though the night, since no construction work could be done before 8 in the morning.

I wasn't the only one watching the fucking temporary traffic lights go from red to green and back again, but I was the only one who was actually fucking conscious at the time, since Jack was somehow snoring his arse off, I don't know how the fuck he was comfortable in that position because he was standing while leaning on the mini traffic lights.

"Hey, Handsome"

"Yeah Chelsea"

"Do you know what the time is?"

"It's half 2 in the fucking morning Green eyes"

"Shit, last time I checked it was 1"

"(Laughs)"

"Hey, just because I'm an old man, doesn't mean you get to laugh at me Handsome"

"(Snorts), Jack, we both know that's bullshit as we're the same fucking age"

"Actually you're like a week older then me Handsome"

"Then you have no fucking excuses then Chelsea"

I got a pretty deadly stare, but I knew that it was all in good banter.

"Ted, has anyone told you that you're an absolute fucking arsehole sometimes"

"Yes, plenty of people have told me that, but I don't fucking care"

"Of course you don't care, that's what I've always admired about you"

"(Laughs), thanks I guess"

"So how's the kids?"

"Well they're both sick at the moment"

"Shit, I can barely cope with a singular sick child, but 2 sick children, fucking hell you're a trouper mate"

"(Snorts), so how is Sophie?"

"She's ok, do you ever wish that you can just freeze their age and keep them like that forever?"

I put on my hoodie because I was fucking frozen, though I guess that's expected when you don't move that much outside at night.

"All the fucking time, though my mum looked at me like I had ten fucking heads when I told her that one time"

"Why am I not fucking surprised?"

"Because she couldn't wait to have adult children to permanently borrow money from"

"You don't give her anything, do you?"

"You can fuck right off, I'm a Chav Green eyes, not fucking stupid"

"I never said that you were stupid Teddy, because you're not stupid, if anything you're actually smarter then you give yourself credit for-"

"No"

"As I was saying before I was interrupted, sometimes your heart is bigger than you are and what a person deserves"

"I only do so for my family Green eyes"

"I know that Handsome, I know"

As you can tell, Jack didn't like my mother that much, not that I blame him, because she had done some pretty shitty things in the time that Jack knew me.

"She's been trying to get Georgie back for the last a year or so but Georgie doesn't want to go, which I totally don't blame him for after everything"

"Wait, why would she want Georgie back when she sent him to Cardiff to your arsehole Dad?"

"So she can claim child benefit from the government for him"

"Fucking hell, how the actual fuck do you cope with all the shit that's on your plate Teddy?"

"Well to be perfectly honest with you, I don't sleep, I drink enough coffee to fucking kill a man, and I have commitment issues, you know, all the usual shit"

"Can you at least talk to a sleep expert about how little you sleep?, if not for yourself then for the people that love you"

"Yeah yeah I will Chelsea"

Jack just rolled his eyes at me, not that I blame him for that because I didn't seek a sleep expert for years after that, so he was correct to.

"Do you ever get scared that you're fucking your children up but you don't know it?"

"Jesus Christ Teddy, where is this coming from?"

"A conversation I had with my mother at Christmas time-"

"What did she say?"

"Well, uh, she said that I was like my father-"

"No, Handsome, she didn't?, Teddy you're nothing like him"

"How do you know th-"

"I'm going to ask you a question, and you will answer"

"Ok"

"If either Rowan or Michael came to you and said that they were gay or that they were trans, would you kick them out?"

"No"

"Then that should answer your question Handsome"

"It does yeah"

"Why didn't you tell either Jade or I before now?"

"I didn't want you to worry about me"

"That's what friends are supposed to do for each other"

"I'm sorry, I didn't think about it that way"

"I know"
