About a year later...
I woke up to Ro jumping on my bed, since apparently I wasn't waking up fast enough for her, Ro and I had recently moved in with Nana, since I no longer had a social worker telling me I couldn't make that decision for myself because she had cancer.
I then sat up, so that I wouldn't be jumped on anymore, because it's not that comfortable being jumped on by a small child, imagine that now, then I looked at the alarm clock, since I was clueless as to what the time actually was, I saw that the alarm clock read about 3 o'clock in the morning.
"Rowan Sweetheart, it's still way too early for us to wake up just yet, why don't you go back to sleep Bambina eh?"
"But I can't get back to sleep Daddy"
"(coos), did you have a nightmare Baby?"
"Yeah, it was really scary too Daddy"
"Aw Sweetie, come here, Daddy's got you now Darling"
So I wrapped my arms around Ro, brought the covers over her and I kissed her forehead, as you do when you comfort your young child after a nightmare.
"Do you want to talk about it Sweetheart?"
"No thanks"
"Ok Buba"
"Can I stay with you tonight Daddy?"
"Yeah Baby, you can stay with me tonight"
"Do you have a nightlight?"
"No Darling, I don't have a night light, I do have fairy lights though"
"They pretty Daddy"
"You think so Sweetheart?"
"Yeah"
"I can think of somebody that is as pretty as fairy lights"
"Who?"
"Have a guess?"
"Cinderella?"
"No Baby not Cinderella"
"Belle?"
"No not Belle ether Darling"
"Mulan?"
"No, it's not Mulan"
"I give up"
"You give up?"
"Yeah, I already had 3 guesses Daddy"

"I'm so sorry, I didn't realise that you only got 3 guesses"
"Come on Daddy, can you please tell me now?"
"Ok ok, I'll tell you"
I kissed her forehead and then started to gently brush my fingers through her hair, knowing that in doing so it would help her go to sleep.
"It's you Sweetheart"
"Are you serious?"
"I'm deadly serious Baby"
"Are you sure Daddy?"
"Would I lie to you Darling?"
"No, you don't like lying Daddy"
"You see Baby, I can be serious if I want to be"
"You just don't want to be a lot"
"You cheeky monkey"
"(Giggles), night night Daddy"
"Good night Buba"
It wasn't too long before Ro fell back to sleep, however I couldn't get back to sleep, because my brain decided that it was far too awake to try and get back to sleep at this point, because single Pringle Dad here didn't have the brain power to go back to dreamland again for the night, (I still don't have the brain power to go back to sleep but that's beside the point here).
Nana was up at around quarter past 5, I only remember this because I looked at the clock when she came into where Ro and I were sleeping, checking in on us as Grandmothers do.
"Good morning Nana"
"Good morning, what are you doing awake Teddy?"
"Ro woke up from a nightmare at 3 O'clock and I didn't get back to sleep, so now I have a dead arm and a sleepy child"
"I'm going to pop the kettle on, do you want a cup of tea?"
"Yeah, thank you Nana"
"You're welcome Tesoro"
Nana went downstairs and made tea for us, since she was an amazing woman and a bloody saint, Ro then started to stir from her sleepy state.

"Good morning Daddy"
"Good morning Baby, you sleep ok?"
"Yeah"
"That's good then Sweetheart"
"Daddy?"
"Yes Bambina"
"Can humans fly?"
"(Chuckles), not without help Sweetheart"
"What kind of help?"
"Like in an aeroplane or a helicopter or something like that"
"Are they like the armbands that you wear to the swimming pool?"
"No, not really Darling"
"Oh ok"
Ro was looking up at me with her sleepy baby blue eyes, she almost looked like an old Victorian porcelain doll at that moment.
"Daddy"
"Yes Sweetheart?"
"I sleepy"
"I know Baby girl, I know, you feeling hungry at all?"
"Hmm, maybe"
"Just a 'maybe' Sweetheart?"
"Yeah"
"Ok, let's see what's downstairs in the fridge, ok Baby?"
"Ok Daddy"
So I lifted Ro up into my arms and headed downstairs, as you do when you need to feed your child, so I found some eggs in the fridge and bread in the bread bin so I made some eggs and soldiers for breakfast.
"Good Morning Nana"
"Good Morning il mio cuore, did you sleep good?"
"Yes Nana, I did, did you Nana?"
"I did, thank you for asking Tesoro"
