《The Hybrid》Old Friend

Liam-
I took few things, only enough for this short journey. I gathered a few of my strongest vampires and we all piled into a nice black limousine. The vehicle sped down the highway faster than our vampire speeds as we crept closer and closer to the human civilizations. Kai thought he was smart enough to try and kill me? Ha.
We were going to find him, kill him, and then I could go back and find Alex. Hopefully she isn't being corrupted by that wolf Tyler. The very thought of him touching her made me want to turn the car around and retrieve her immediately. She would be useless against him with their silly wolf's bond. How does she know she even has real feelings for him?
My thoughts were hushed as I saw the car approaching a large human city. The limo slowed to normal humanly speeds as we entered the massive city. This was the city of Chicago, a large city home to many blood sources to my kinds liking. My mind, however, was not focused on getting a fix of blood. I needed to get in and get out without being exposed.
We didn't enter large cities vary often. There are some vampires who thrive in big cities, making businesses and robbing the blood banks. They live happy lives until they get caught or they get noticed for their lack of aging. I preferred living in my secluded mansion where I was free to have parties specifically for my own kind.
Immediately as we entered the city, we were met by traffic lights and speed limit signs that were extremely slow. It took us at least thirty minutes to make it to our first destination. The car pulled up and stopped, letting me and a few men out before leaving us behind.
We arrived at a large glass building. I smiled as I prepared to see one of my very old friends. We entered the building and walked to the silver grey desk. The large lobby was decorated with colorful paintings and modern furniture that fit nicely with the paintings. I approached the desk and my eyes met with a pretty blonde girl. She had fair skin and her bleach blonde hair was pulled tightly into a ponytail. She wore simple makeup hidden under her black glasses that sat pushed up on her nose.
She looked up at me and gave me a smile. "How can I help you today?"
I returned the smile to her as I leaned on the desk casually. "Hello. I'm here to see Abigail Lewis."
"She's not in at the moment." The girl said a little too quickly. I adjusted my position and gave her my best smile once again.
"Listen, Love, I need to talk to her. It's pretty urgent so you understand, don't you?" I attempted charming her. Her cheeks tinted a soft pink as she looked at me.
"I suppose I could check and see if she is back." She added as she dialing on her phone. She spoke a few words into the device before placing it back down and looking up to me with a smile.
"She can see you in her office." She shined up at me through her glasses.
"Thank you Love." I gave a smile of happiness as I pushed off the desk. Humans were so easy. They are obsessed with the illusion of finding love. Romance is something they worship; especially the females. They would have no real defense against our kinds. All we had to do was charm the silly humans and then they would do our bidding.

We made our way to the large elevator. We hopped inside and pressed the button for floor 20, the top floor. The elevator doors closed and we were slowly raised to the top floor of the huge building.
A soft ding was heard as we went up, up, up, the many floors. My two man stood tense and quit as we waited on the elevator. The final ding rang and the door slid open slowly, allowing us to step through onto the floor.
This whole floor was consumed by Abigail's massive office. Her office consisted of three different rooms and a wide hallway that allowed access to each. The first room was her own personal kitchen area consisting of an espresso machine and her chef. The second room was her own gym where she can run on a treadmill while looking out of the massive glass wall down to the glimmering city below. The final room was her business room filled with a large desk, her name engraved in the light oak woods, a few white plush chairs for her clients, a fluffy purple rug, a large tv plastered on the wall, and other decorations to make this room modern and young.
We stepped out of the elevator and I nodded to my men to stay there while I talked to my old friend. I listened closely to find the sounds of her movement; she was in the gym. I heard her rapid breathing as I made my way to slowly inch the door to her gym open. Abigail was in the middle of the room standing on a purple yoga mat. She had two heavy weights in her hands as she was doing a series of squats. She has medium dark brown strait hair and brown eyes decorated with gold eye shadow to compliment her mocha skin. She was beautiful. Her eyes flickered to me and she scowled.
"Abigail!" I rang happily as I fully entered the room.
"Why are you here?" She spat as she continued to squat. Sweat was building on her brow as she continued.
"Can't a vampire just visit one of his oldest friends?" I questioned as I tried to appear puzzled.
"Fifty years." She grunted as she squatted. "It's been fifty years since I've seen your face."
"Oh really? That long?" I scratched my head. I felt kind of bad but I didn't see the reasons for her anger.
"I've learned how you work, Liam. You only come around when you want something. Once you get it, you disappear." She seethed.
"I'm sorry. I've been busy..." I apologized.
She rolled her eyes as she sat down her weights and picked up a towel to wipe her sweat. She then nodded her head towards the door before disappearing into thin air. I walked slowly through the door and peered down the hall for a moment. I then walked into the kitchen where I found her shifting through the cabinets for something.
"You know, I'm beers going to get used to your little abilities." I joked.
"It's not abilities. It's magic." She stated bluntly.
"Come on! When are you going to stop being angry with me?" I whined as I walked a step closer to her.
She took out two glasses out of the cabinet and filled them with a few ice cubes. She then poured a brown liquid in the two and handed me a glass.
"I will quit being angry with you when you actually start caring." She hissed and then she took a large sip of her drink then set it on the counter.

At this point I realized the source of her anger. The last time I had seen her was when she had barely gotten a hold on her witchy abilities and she was nothing. At the time she was still with her family and seemed happy. Once I left, I didn't look back simply because I didn't want to bring my drama into her fragile life.
I took another step towards her and set my drink down on the counter next to hers. I grabbed her hands with mine and looked into her brown eyes.
"I am so sorry I left you. I wasn't there when your parents died and I never came by." I apologized. "The truth is, I didn't want to drag you into all of the drama from my enemies. You were, fragile back then. You are stronger now. I see that, but it only happened with the absence of me." I concluded. Her eyes gazed into my soul as she processed the words. "I hope you can forgive me." I added.
"I forgive you." She stated after a long moment of silence. A wave of relief washed over me. I didn't want to lose Abigail. I smiled at her and released my gentle grip on her smooth hands.
"Thank you."
"Yeah, well now that we're friends again, tell me why you're really here? Vampires like you never come into human cities." She looked me up and down.
"Well... There is something you could help me with." I said with a small smirk. She rolled her eyes in amusement as she disappeared into thin air. I used my speed to flash into her office where she was lounging in her desk.
"What can I help you with?" She gave me a fake smile as she shifted through a fashion magazine.
"Well, I need to find someone. His name is Kai and he is a hunter." I began.
"Hunter's in these cities?" She gaped at me, looking away from the magazine. "You're joking."
"My sources say he is trying to build an army to take me out and steal something from me." I gritted. He was insane if he thought he was going to succeed. My mind flickered once again to the one I left behind. I wonder if she still thinks about me...
"Something... meaning the girl?" Abigail inquired as she set down the magazine and focused solely on me. The little witch was trying to read my mind.
"Get out of my head." I commanded as I shook my head. She laughed a little.
"So. The all powerful pure blood has a new weakness. Love." She stood up from her desk and walked closer to me. "But wait.." She held up a finger as she was searching through my mind. I tried to focus on anything but her. Images of my memories with Alex flashed through my mind as Abigail easily overpowered me. "This girl isn't a vampire." She stated with an evil smile. "She is only part vampire. She is a hybrid..." Another one of her magical laughters filled the room and bounced off of the walls. "Oh Liam, you've really done it now."
"Stop." I growled at her. "I have no weakness."
"Oh?" She said as she walked really close and started playing with the collar on my shirt. "Then why did you send her away to protect her? Why do you care?" She whispered softly.
"Can you help me with Kai or not?" I grumbled stiffly. She scowled at her inability to get a reaction out of me. She then walked back to her desk and started shifting through the drawers.
"There's not much I can do, hun. I have no relation or images of him." She explained. "But there is hope. If he really is building an army of hunters, he will have to visit one of the secret spots in the city for his kind." She smiled as she pulled out a map. "There are exactly four different locations he could be at."
She closed her eyes and raised her arms over the map as she chanted something in a foreign language. The map began to glow around the city. The glowing then separated into four glittery blobs that slowly made their way to different locations on the map. After a few moments she finished and the glowing blobs turned into a dark red ink. Abigail looked back up at me and smiled.
"There you go."
"Four? Is there any way you can narrow that down?" I ran my fingers through my hair.
"You act like I can do anything" The same scowl returned to her beautiful face as she once again entered my mind. I felt her presence in my thoughts, shifting through my memories like files in a filing cabinet.
"What are you doing now?" I groaned as I put a hand to my forehead.
"Hold on." She commanded. I stood in silence for a moment until I felt her aura vacate my brain, leaving me alone again. "There!" She said with a smile as she lit up like a new light bulb.
"What?" I questioned skeptically. The thought of someone in my head really messed with me.
"Well. That one time when Kai totally kicked your ass, really fun to watch by the way, well, then you kidnapped one of his men and brutally tortured him for information correct? " She asked. And before I could answer she continued. "Well this smarty right here knows just how to narrow it down to only once location!" She cheered as she pointed to herself.
"Do care to explain, love."
"Welllll." She took a deep breath as she prepared to educate me. "Since you know of Kai's possible plans, then he would need to go to a location filled with trained hunters correct? Hunters aren't usually a species. You can be born a hunter, but only if you have hunter parents. Hunters were originally created. An ancient group of werewolves created the hunter using a powerful witch to do the spell. The hunters were created to kill the vampires for the werewolves during the war. Well, the vampires got a hold of some of the hunters and turned them against the werewolves, causing massive destruction and chaos. Eventually the hunters gathered a mind of their own and decided they wanted to kill both species. From there, werewolves and vampires killed off most of the hunters, unaware that few survived to repopulate."
She paused and looked at me to see if I was still with her. I gave her a small nod as I continued to listen to her fast talking story.
"Well, because the hunters are created then they emit a special energy that is easy to locate. They radiate magic because they were created with magic. SO, we just have to locate the source of the hunters and you can see if Kai is there."
"Is that possible?" I raised an eyebrow at the woman.
"Of course! Now shut up while I work." She hushed me as she turned back to her map. Her chanting returned and the red stains in the map glowed once again. The lights in the room dimmed to her magical abilities as she continued. The fours spots grew blindingly bright until one of them disappeared and was replaced by three blue ink spots. Another spot disappeared leaving only one blue stain in the map. The other two disappeared also leaving behind ink spots. Abigail returned and she opened her eyes.
She picked up the map and stared at it for a minute, furrowing her eyebrows before smiling.
"Did it work?" I asked curiously.
"Of course it did!" She flipped the map around and lay it flat on her desk. I studied the blue dots puzzled. "Here" She pointed her finger to a large cluster of at least twenty blue dots all in the same area. "This is where the majority of the hunters are. I bet he is there." She concluded.
"You are amazing!" I exclaimed with a smile. She smiled back and then put her hands behind her head and leanded back.
"What can I say. I was born to be amazing." She was being cocky. I laughed at her before coming over and placing a small kiss on my friends cheek.
"Thank you. This has really been a great visit." I said.
"That's right! Come visit again soon. And soon doesn't mean fifty more years! I don't live forever you know." She laughed.
I winked at her and grabbed the map before making my way out of her office.
"Next time you visit! I want to meet that hybrid of yours!" She yelled as I walked down the hall to meet up with my two men waiting patiently.
"Yes ma'am!" I yelled back to her as I stepped into the elevator, the doors sliding closed.
My mind once again flashed back to Alexandra as we made our descend. Once I killed Kai, I wuld return and take her back.
