I held on tight to the edge of the pool as the world around me began to spin. Occasionally I'd feel Josh's hands on my hips, holding me up before I slipped under.

"I knew I should have cut you off." He laughed, now moving in front of me. Then I saw his eyes move down to my neck, his face dropping.

"W-where'd you get this?" He asked, reaching for Jake's pick. I had forgotten I was wearing it. I really didn't think twice about it anymore considering I never took it off.

"Jake gave it to me." I said simply, having lost access to my filter one too many drinks ago.

"He.. gave this to you?" He asked, his voice now more stern. I nodded, moving away from him, holding the pick between my fingers now.

Jake then finally made his way back over, Cait still following close behind. I ignored her, flashing him a beaming grin as he leaned back down, handing me my cup.

"Thank you." I said happily, now reaching up for him, pulling him in closer to me. He hopped back into the pool, practically pushing Josh out of the way to be next to me again.

"Danny didn't need any help." Jake said plainly, keeping his eyes on me, though I knew it was meant for Josh.

"I don't think she needs anymore, Jake. She's already had-" He muttered.

"I think she can make up her own mind, thanks." Jake snapped, glaring back at him. The last thing I wanted was to be stuck in the middle of one of their fights, but I also couldn't bring myself to leave.

"I'm okay." I assured them, now grabbing onto Jake's arm. "I thought we were having fun tonight?"

"So did I." Josh muttered, glaring over at Jake who continued to pay him no mind.

Jake then grabbed my hands, pulling me in as he wrapped them around his neck, dragging me out further into the pool. I held on tight, a smile escaping my lips as I leaned in closer.

"So, what are you doing in about.. fifteen minutes?" He asked, smirking back at me. I bit down on my lip, feeling my heart beat faster.

"Why? What did you have in mind?"

"Well.." He said, peeking across the yard. "It looks to me like.. we could have the hot tub to ourselves."

"You don't think that would be.. too obvious?" I ran my fingers through his hair as his hands moved down to my waist, pulling me in closer. He stared up at me with dazed eyes, slowly tracing every inch of my face until they reached my lips.

All I wanted to do was kiss him, but even as drunk as I was, I could still feel eyes on us from across the pool. He leaned in, whispering into my ear.

"You don't think this is too obvious?" I felt my cheeks burn. He was right.

"Y-yeah." I managed, gently pushing away. His face dropped as he reached out for me again.

"Jaime, wait.." He laughed. I shook my head, smirking back at him as I swam over to the other side of the pool again, avoiding everyone's eyes as I climbed out, wrapping myself in my towel. It didn't take long for Josh to quickly follow behind.

"Jaime, w-what's going on?" He asked, wrapping his towel around his waist. I shrugged, avoiding his eyes.

"What do you mean?" He looked over at Jake who was now slowly making his way out, drying off and tossing his towel over his shoulder. I watched him as he started to make his way back towards the hot tub, shooting me a look and motioning over towards him before turning away.

"I mean.. with Jake." He said, moving back in front of me. I quickly snapped out of it, bringing my attention back to him.

"I.. I don't.. I don't know what you're talking about." I stuttered, now reaching out for him for balance. He swiftly grabbed me, holding me up, pulling me in close to him.

"Come on." He sighed. "You should go lie down." He wrapped my arm around him, practically carrying me inside.

I made my way back over to the pool, feeling my heart beat faster as I saw Jaime swim back up to the edge, flashing me her usual drunken grin. She was so cute. I leaned down, handing her her cup.

"Thank you." She said, now reaching up for me, pulling me in closer. I didn't hesitate to hop back into the pool, doing whatever I could just to be closer to her. I would do anything just to be as close to her as possible.

"Danny didn't need any help." I snapped, keeping my eyes on her. I could see Josh shaking his head, rolling his eyes from behind her.

"I don't think she needs anymore, Jake. She's already had-"

"I think she can make up her own mind, thanks." I said, glaring back at him.

"I'm okay." Jaime said, grabbing onto my arm. My heart jumped at her touch, unable to contain my smile. "I thought we were having fun tonight?" I then heard Josh mumbling from behind us.

"So did I."

Maybe it was the alcohol, or maybe not, I don't know what it was that came over her tonight, but maybe, deep down, she didn't want to keep us a secret anymore either, and.. maybe this was her way of telling me.

I took her hands, pulling her in closer to me, wrapping them around my neck as I dragged her out further into the pool, out of earshot from everyone else. Her grip got tighter as she smiled back at me, leaning in closer. It was taking everything in me not to just kiss her right now.

"So, what are you doing in about.. fifteen minutes?" I asked, smirking back at her. She bit down on her lip, holding her stare on me, her cheeks as flushed as ever.

"Why? What did you have in mind?"

"Well.." I said, now peeking across the yard. I had been wanting to get her alone in that hot tub for years now.. and I was starting to think that tonight was finally the night. "It looks to me like.. we could have the hot tub to ourselves."

"You don't think that would be.. too obvious?" She asked, running her fingers through my hair. I slowly glided my hands down her body to her waist, pulling her in closer. She was so beautiful, and all I wanted was to finally call her mine, but I could tell she still had her doubts.

"You don't think this is too obvious?" I asked. She nodded, smirking back at me.

"Y-yeah." She said, gently pushing me away. My heart sunk. Please don't tell me I had just ruined everything. I reached out for her again, but she swam out of my grip.

"Jaime, wait.." I laughed, trying to make light of it, but she shook her head, smirking back at me as she swam over to the other side of the pool.

I was starting to feel defeated now, like despite how she was with me when we were alone, if Josh was around, she would always be worried about his feelings first. And if that was the case, I couldn't see there being any way in which this worked out.

But I understood, things were still fresh between them, but that didn't change how I felt. She was all I ever truly wanted, and I would wait as long as it took for her to be just as sure about me too. After all these years, I owed her that much.

At this point, Josh had pulled her to the side, no doubt hounding her about me. But they had broken up, this wasn't his business anymore. She could see or do whoever she wanted now.

Then as I made my way out of the pool, I saw him look over at me, Jaime peeking over his shoulder, staring me down too. My heart jumped every time she looked at me. It always had. And I was starting to think that it always would.

I smiled back at her as I started to make my way back towards the hot tub, shooting her a look and motioning over before turning away, hoping that was enough to get her to leave him and come after me, knowing he wouldn't have enough nerve to follow her back.

Now all I had to do was wait. But apparently not too long before I saw Cait starting to make her way back. My heart sunk. The last thing I wanted was to talk to her.

"Hey." She said, flashing me a flirtatious smile as she climbed into the hot tub, sitting down across from me.

"What are you doing here, Cait?" I sighed, avoiding her eyes, moving my hands through the bubbles as they floated around me.

"Come on, Jake. It's a party. Lighten up." She slowly started to make her way over to me, closer and closer. "I figured we could talk."

"We don't have anything to talk about." I muttered.

"Sure we do. We.. we left things off on a bad note, and I-"

"You were hoping I'd choke at the show." I snapped. "We have nothing to talk about."

"I heard about the record deal." She said, now sliding into the spot next to me. I moved away, now practically cornered.

"Yeah."

"I always knew you'd do it." I rolled my eyes.

"You were the one who said it was a waste of time." She sighed, moving even closer. I now felt her leg brushing against mine.

"I never said that."

"Whatever, Cait. Can you just go? I'm waiting for-"

"For Jaime? Your brother's girlfriend?" She mocked. My heart sunk.

"They're not dating anymore." I mumbled. Then I felt her hand on my leg as she leaned in. I gently pushed her away.

"You really are something." She laughed, rolling her eyes.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means I knew there was something going on between you two that day in the basement. I'm not stupid. But you clearly are if you really think anything is going to happen with her. You see how she looks at Josh, it's always going to be him." I hated that part of me really wondered if she was right, but I knew she was just trying to get in my head.

"Cait, just-" She then positioned herself in my lap, straddling both legs around me as she leaned in, her lips just grazing my neck.

"You have me. Just forget about her." I then shoved her off, quickly moving away.

"Cait stop, I-"

"Wow.." I heard from behind me. My heart sunk. I'd know that voice anywhere. I quickly turned around, my heart dropping when I saw Jaime standing there, tears now filling her eyes.

"Jaime, please, please wait, I swear it's not-" She shook her head, wiping her eyes.

"Just forget it." She cried before running back off to the house.
