《Always There || Greta Van Fleet》Chapter 60: The Jealous Type

"They're gonna come looking for you." I laughed, backing away. He shook his head, pulling me back into another series of kisses, his hands moving up, caressing my neck so gently. I never wanted it to end. How many nights I stayed up, imagining the two of us together in such vidid, hopeless daydreams, but none could ever compare to how enchanted it felt to melt between his fingers, trickling down into the overflowing puddles that engulfed our now frigid toes.
"Jaime, I have waited my whole life for this, they can wait a few more minutes." He sighed, running his fingers through my now drenched hair. I slowly moved my hands up his chest, grasping onto his shirt that clung tightly to his skin. It became clearer and clearer with every moment spent with him how girls could fall for him so easily. How could you not plunge head over heels for someone who said things to you like that?
But that was something I was always skeptical about when it came to him. He always knew the perfect thing to say, and as badly as I wanted to believe it all..
"We don't want to get caught before we even get started." I whispered, smirking up at him. He sighed, pulling me into another long kiss. His hands slowly traveling up my body as if knowing exactly what to do, making me wonder.. who else has gotten to feel him this way, who else has heard these same words from him before? This all felt like a fairytale, but until he could show me something real, I knew I would have my guard up.
"Have I told you how beautiful you are?" He said, combing his fingers through my hair. I bit down on my lip, trying to contain my smile.
"You might have mentioned it." I teased, wrapping my arms back around his neck. He pulled me into a tight hug, hiding his face in my neck as I felt his lips lightly brush against my skin.
"Well, you are so beautiful." He whispered, now feeling his lips curl into a smile. When I finally backed away again, he stared down at me with dazed eyes, that same adoring smile never once fading away.
"How about this.." I said, moving my hands up to his chest again. "You go to practice, I'll go dry off and meet up with you guys a little later, okay?"

"Okay.." He groaned, smirking back at me. "But.. before you go.."
My heart jumped again as he pulled me back into another passionate kiss, tangling his fingers in my hair again. I kissed him back harder, feeling my head start to spin, just wanting more..
I quickly pulled away, catching my breath and flashing him a beaming smile as I started making my way back to my house. He didn't hesitate to follow closely behind, reaching out for my hand. I playfully pulled it away, now running faster, peeking back at him. He sped up, catching me just before I reached my door, spinning me around and pulling me into another series of kisses. I couldn't help but laugh, holding on tight, kissing him back harder.
"Why don't I just.. come with you." He whispered, gently guiding me towards the door. I shook my head, jokingly pushing him away.
"Go practice. I'll be right over." I laughed. He shook his head, now leaning in the doorway.
"Jaime.." He sighed, reaching out for me again, gently caressing my cheek.
"Jake.." I mocked, shaking my head again. He smirked back at me, pulling me back into one more kiss before finally moving away.
"Okay.. I'll see you soon."
"Okay." I sighed, holding my stare on him.
"If you keep looking at me like that, I'm gonna come upstairs with you." I rolled my eyes, trying to contain my smile as I finally turned away, going back up.
After quickly showering and throwing on a change of clothes, I hastily made my way back downstairs and over to their garage. Thankfully by now the rain had cleared up. I peeked in, watching for a moment before making myself known. It was amazing getting to see them like this, especially knowing how much everything was going to change in just a matter of weeks.
As much as I hated to think about it.
Right now, they were still mine. But soon..
Jake then peeked over at the doorway, his eyes instantly lighting up as he saw me. He waved me in, flashing me an enthusiastic smile. I tried my best to hide my blushing face, but it was no use. I quickly looked away from him, giving the rest of the guys a timid wave.
"You sound great." I said, going over and plopping down onto the couch. I then felt a knot form in my stomach as Josh peeked over, forcing a smile. He hesitated for a moment before eventually coming over and sitting down next to me.

"Is it okay that I'm here?" I whispered. He nodded, leaning in close, placing his hand on my leg. I felt my body get hot, trying my best not to look over at Jake who I could already feel glaring at us.
"Yeah, of course." He sighed. "I missed you."
"Josh, we need you." Jake snapped, now shooting me a look.
"Jake, relax, we can take a break."
"No. These have to be perfect." He said plainly, looking back down at his guitar.
"Sorry." He giggled to himself. "Boss man said no."
"It's okay." I muttered. "I want to hear you guys." He reached over, gently touching my cheek before getting up and going back over to the microphone.
I sat back, watching as they ran through the rest of their set, perfect as always, but noticed that Jake was trying extra hard today, adding in solos that weren't usually there, sounding better than ever. I couldn't take my eyes off of him, feeling my heart jump every time he peeked over at me.
As the rest of the guys were cleaning up, Josh took this as an opportunity to come back over, sitting down close to me again, purposely brushing his leg up against mine.
"So how were we?" He asked happily, subtly wrapping his arm around me.
"You guys are always great." His smile grew as he moved in closer. I could feel Jake's eyes burning a hole through us from across the garage.
"So, I was wondering.. well.. tonight, if you're not doing anything.." My stomach dropped. I know we had said we'd still see each other as friends, but I didn't really think he'd act like nothing happened between us in that sense. How was he so okay with this?
"I think she is doing something." Jake quickly cut in, making his way over. He sat down on the arm of the couch, forcing a smile.
"How would you know?" Josh asked, shooting him a look. Jake shrugged, quickly peeking down at me.
"Because.. remember? You said.." He held his stare on me, begging me to play along.
"O-oh.. right." I stuttered, feeling my face get hot. "I.. I do." Josh's face dropped as he subtly moved away.
"Oh.. o-okay. Well, maybe.. tomorr-"
"We have practice tomorrow." Jake cut in. Josh glared back over at him.
"Well, not all day." He snapped.
"How about.. I just let you know." I assured him, smiling back up at him. He nodded.
"Yeah, okay. Sure. You just, um.. you let me know then." He hesitated for a moment, waiting for Jake to leave, which of course there was no way that was happening. The last thing Jake was going to do was ever leave me alone with Josh.
He finally gave in, heading out with Sam and Danny, just leaving the two of us alone again. Jake waited for them to be out of earshot before turning back to me.
"Still friendly, huh?" He muttered.
"Funny, I never took you as the jealous type." I said, pushing myself up from the couch and making my way towards the door. I could hear him get up, following me close behind.
"I'm not jealous." He snapped. I rolled my eyes, turning around to face him again.
"You're joking, right? Then what would you call that." He stopped, his cheeks burning bright red.
"W-what.. what do you-"
"I'm busy tonight?" I asked, crossing my arms across my chest as I leaned back against the door. He held his stare on me, awkwardly shoving his hands into his pockets.
"I wanted to take you out." He said softly, avoiding my eyes. My heart jumped.
"Well.. then you should ask me." I sighed. He nodded, peeking back up at me, moving in closer.
"You're right."
"I'm not gonna be like your other girlfriends." I said, feeling my heart beat faster as he reached up, now gently caressing my cheek.
"No you're not."
"You don't just get to assum-" He cut me off, pulling me into a gentle kiss, his hand slowly moving down to my neck, pulling me in closer. I grabbed onto his shirt, pulling him in closer, kissing him back harder.
"Jaime.. will you go out with me tonight?" He finally asked, giving me a gentle smile as he leaned his forehead against mine. I sighed, unable to contain my giddy grin any longer.
"Yes."
