《Always There || Greta Van Fleet》Chapter 33: Together

I woke up to the feeling of Josh's arm wrapped around my stomach, pulling me up against him, his face nuzzled into the back of my neck. I tried my best not to move, not wanting to wake him up. For these few moments, I was just.. completely happy. And I wanted to enjoy every second of it for as long as I could.
But it wasn't long before I felt him move, his grip on me getting tighter as he sighed into my ear.
"Are you awake?" I whispered, intertwining our fingers. I felt him nod, his lips gently grazing the side of my neck.
Carefully turning over, I wrapped my arms around his stomach, now hiding my face in his chest. What I would give to be able to wake up to this every morning. After what felt like years of having to take care of everyone else, it was nice to finally feel like there was someone there to comfort me.
"Good morning." He eventually mumbled, kissing the top of my head. I peeked up at him, giving him a gentle smile.
"How'd you sleep?" He smirked back down at me, opening one eye.
"Amazing." He sighed, finally pushing himself up, stretching his arms above his head. He took a minute, looking around the room, allowing his eyes to adjust before turning back to me, lying back down, propping his head up onto his hand and flashing me a sleepy grin.
"Isn't this when you get up and light your candles?" He asked. "I'm pretty sure I'd smell them through my window by now." I couldn't help but smile, feeling my cheeks burn.
"You know my schedule, huh?" He nodded, gently brushing the hair out of my face.
"And then it's not long until you put on one of your records." It was amazing just how much he paid attention to me, this whole time.

"Go pick one out." I said, motioning to my record player. He didn't hesitate to roll out of bed, making his way over to my shelf. I could feel my face getting hot as I admired him from across the room. His chest still bare, wearing only his underwear. He began flipping through until he finally pulled one out, carefully removing it from its sleeve and placing it down. I listened for the hum and crackle before it finally started to play.

"You got me this one for my birthday." I said, feeling my heart beat faster. He nodded, making his way back over to the bed where he took my hand, helping me out of it. He twirled me around before pulling me in close, wrapping his arm around me, taking my hand in his.
"You remember." He said cheerfully, leaning his forehead against mine as we started to sway.
Of course I remembered. I would never forget the first time I played it, forcing myself not to look too deeply into it, but praying that it meant something.
"I always hoped you would have picked up on it." He giggled. "But.. you never said anything."
"And I always hoped you meant something by it, but.. you never said anything either." He nodded, holding his stare on me. I leaned my head on his shoulder, pulling him in closer as we swayed in silence, just enjoying finally getting to have this moment together.
You fill my eager heart with such desire
Every kiss you give sets my soul on fire
I give myself in sweet surrender
My one and only love
He then picked his head up, staring back at me with dazed eyes.
"Jaime.." He said, looking like he had something else he wanted to say, but just couldn't get it out. I leaned up, gently kissing him on the lips, now wrapping my arms around his neck.

"What is it?"
"Jaime, I.." He started, holding his stare on me for a moment before leaning in, kissing me again.
"I.. I just.."
"Whatever it is, you can tell me."
"I.. love being with you." He finally muttered, now avoiding my eyes. "I love.. what we have."
"Me too." I sighed, pulling him into another kiss. I felt him tangle his fingers into my hair, kissing me back harder as he slowly guided me back towards my bed. I moved my hands down to his waist, pulling him over me as we fell back onto it. My heart started racing as his lips moved down to my neck, kissing me harder. I slowly moved my hands down his body when I felt him stop me.
"Jaime.." He sighed, now staring back down at me.
"I.. I'm sorry. I.. I just thought.. cause you-"
"I'm sorry." He moved away, rolling back over next to me.
"How about.. you just tell me when." I said softly, peeking up at him. He nodded, giving me a gentle smile.
"Okay."
We spent the rest of the morning in bed, just talking, touching never exceeding so much as a long kiss or lustful hands carefully gliding up and down exposed skin, but it didn't take much to feel loved by him, his every move so affectionate and caring and intentional.
"So, let's say the band doesn't work out." I said, running my fingers through his hair. "Have you been working on anything for your film portfolio?" He nodded, giving me a half shrug.
"Here and there. Jake has kind of been monopolizing my free time with everything."
"Well, I'm not saying you guys should give up, I just think.. you also need to think about your life, and what you want to do. You know regardless of what happens, Jake is always going to do music, but.. I just want to see you happy and following your dreams too. I can even help you if you want, I mean, I don't know-" He cut me off, pulling me into a long kiss until I felt his lips curl into a smile.
"You're so cute." He sighed, shaking his head. "Thank you. And you know I'm here to help you too, whatever you want to do, just say the word."
"Well, we.. my mom and I.. never really considered college because.. well, we knew we could never afford it. I knew eventually I'd just wind up taking whatever job here I could find and.. that would be that." His face dropped.
"Well.. you have me now. I can help however-" I then cut him off, pulling him back into another kiss.
"I don't want you to worry about that. Let's focus on you. You have so many things-"
"Jaime, we're a team now." My heart jumped. But he was right.
"If you could do anything in the world, if money wasn't an option, what would you do?" He asked. I stopped, thinking about it for a moment, then realizing I had never actually taken the time to consider what I would do if given the chance, I think because deep down, I never wanted to get my hopes up, knowing it would never happen anyway.
"I.. I really don't know." I mumbled. He sighed, pulling me in close, kissing my forehead.
"Then I'll help you figure it out. Whatever that means." I couldn't help but smile, now feeling tears come to my eyes as I cuddled closer, hiding my face in his chest. I felt him gently rubbing my back, leaning his head against mine.
"Whatever happens, Jaime, we'll do it together."

Killstealer
Unfinished - Apologies to anyone who was reading but I have no current intentions to revisit this story Alex was stuck in a rut: He was nearing thirty, and his career seemed to be going no-where; He used to have plenty of friends at university, but had gradually lost touch with them. He had recently started using a dating site, but truthfully he never quite got over his ex. It could be worse; he didn't spend his nights wallowing in self pity. However, he had a sinking feeling that his life was going no-where fast. When Alex decided to take up an old hobby all he really was looking for was something fun to do on friday nights. Thrust into another world by a mad mage Alex must adapt quickly to survive. Unfortunately, Alex showed up late to game night and ends up stuck with a pretty mediocre character in this game like reality. Alex must learn to survive in this new world; just because it all seems like a giant game doesn't make death any less terrifying. This will be my first attempt at writing litrpg. I wanted to set myself the challenge of writing every week and I think knowing people might be reading it will motivate me. I've always worked much better with external deadlines. FAQ Why should I read this LitRPG? I am writing because I enjoy it and you should read it if you enjoy it. If I had to make an elevator pitch I would start off by saying my MC is a rogue type character, which seems a relatively uncommon character at least based on what I have read. I also strive to make the supporting cast three dimensional characters, and not just caricatures. Finally, I can't forget that this is a LitRPG so I have tried to make a RPG system with depth, and one that makes sense. How often will you release chapters? At least once a week is my goal. I am a nurse with a baby at home, so between my hospital and my baby I won't have time for more unless something dramatically changes. Will there be romance? I won't rule it out as I try to let my characters write their own stories. However, there will NEVER be a harem, it just isn't something I am interested in. Gore, Profanity, and Traumatising Content? I don't intend to have any of these present at obscene levels, but my tolerance might be different to yours. The tags are mostly there to cover me.
