《Van Helsing》Van Helsing/VD/Originals: Timing Is Everything (Vaxel)

Summary: Starting in Van Helsing S1 when Julius was looking for the girl that could turn vampires human with a bite. Vanessa. When Axel and human Kat go rescue Vanessa, Kat sees Rebekah in one of the cells Julius is keeping humans in, so when they rescue Vanessa, they also rescue Rebekah. What will happen?
It was a dismal night, as Rebekah stayed seated on the ground, eyes closed, weak. Along with others that had been captured and put in cages and cells, she had been as well. The vampire was looking for some girl that could turn vampires human with a bite, so she'd been one of the tests. The vampire didn't seem to care for others though, because she hadn't been fed, and it felt like months since she'd been fed. She'd tried escaping when she'd first gotten her, but it hadn't worked when some mutation had bitten her. Now, she could only hope for food or a rescue. She barely had any strength left.
Kat and Axel had been going on a Vanessa rescue mission to save her from Julius, when Kat had gotten captured. Granted though, it was to be a distraction for Axel to hopefully get to Vanessa. It seemed like they were over capacity though, because when she was thrown into a cell and turned around, she wasn't alone. She hadn't expected to run into her any time soon, so this was a shock. Since she wasn't usually the quiet type, it was concerning to her that the blonde didn't move or say anything.
She briskly walked over and knelt by her. She could see an unhealed arm wound and she was paler than usual.
"Rebekah?" she called. She then rested a hand on the side of her face. "Open your eyes. I know you don't want to die like this. Come on. I need you to wake up for me."
While she tried to think of a way to help her, she heard the door, and looked to see Axel and Vanessa.
"We need to get her out of here," she told him.
About twenty minutes later, they were in the back of his fortified ambulance, Axel and Kat on either side of the vampiress.
Kat grabbed an empty hospital bag, giving it to him.
"Put as much as you can in there. She needs blood soon, or she's going to desiccate."
He did what she asked him to, and questioned, "Who is she anyway?"
"Klaus and Elijah's sister I mentioned," she informed him.
"The vampire sister," he stated, and soon finished putting what he could into the bag. He then handed it over to her, in which she took.
"You okay to drive?" she questioned.
"We'll have Vanessa drive for a while," he replied to her. He wasn't a fan of being in the back with a vampire, but he felt it was okay with Katherine there. Besides, he knew the routine with taking blood. He knew he shouldn't be driving. He also knew like she did that they didn't have all night to sit there.

After he gave the keys over to Vanessa, she began driving.
"Let's get back to the hospital. I can help her more there," she told Vanessa. Then she rested her hand around the unhealed wound, while she held the other with the hospital bag of blood. "She should be fully healed. The kind of vampire that she is and that I was once heal quickly. What do you think would bite a vampire?"
"Well, these ones are vicious enough. Maybe one of them bit her. Who knows. That's your department," he replied, drinking a bottle of water.
"It doesn't look like it would be any of the ones we've ran across if it was a vampire. I guess when she wakes up, I'll see if she'll tell me what happened to her. Hopefully, it's something I can easily help," she replied.
Once they were parked in the parking garage and everything was secure, which was when she was able to take the ivy out of her since the blood was done getting to her veins, she and Axel got her out of the back. Then they got her eventually to a room, where they got her onto a bed. Then, after that, Kat grabbed some blood that they already had stored in a cooler, and hooked her up with a couple, where she was in bed.
When the Original slowly woke up, she was in an unfamiliar room in a bed. She was still weak, but was starting to feel like her strength was coming back. She saw that someone had been getting some blood into her, which was helping. Then she saw Katherine seated on her bedside. Something she never thought would ever happen, considering she despised her for being able to escape her brother, when she couldn't herself.
"Bloody hell?" she inquired.
"I saw that you needed some rescuing, so I rescued you with help from a couple newfound friends of mine. Axel and I were on the verge of rescuing Vanessa from them, so I convinced him to help me get you out of there. I've been giving you some hospital bags we have in a cooler, since I can't feed you my own considering the cure is still in me," she explained to her. "What bit you, though? That bite still isn't fully healing."
Since the doppelganger was so nice and had saved her from that monster of a vampire, and from possibly desiccating, she decided to let her save her as much as she could. She didn't exactly want to die, but she hadn't been in touch with her family since she'd left New Orleans, which had been not long before the monstrous vampires had taken over.
"I almost escaped when I first got captured, but some mutation of something bit me. Almost feels like a werewolf bite, but without the hallucinations. I was a nurse in the Quarter in the 1900's, but even I don't know what's wrong with me," she replied and admitted.
"Sounds like maybe a vampire mutation of some kind. Don't worry. We'll figure out what's wrong with you. Just don't go anywhere. Rest, and I'll figure this out. But I'll have to take a closer look at that bite," she told her.

"Do whatever you have to do," Rebekah told her, giving her permission to do whatever she needed to to help her feel like herself again. She hated being weak. The last time she'd felt a fraction of that had been when she'd been bitten by the wolves when Celeste had been out for revenge, before Elijah had finally been able to end her once and for all.
When Kat took a closer look, while Rebekah looked to be asleep again, she found that there was a tooth in her wound, and that had been causing all the issues. She was able to get it all out though, and when she did, she saw her bite fully heal in an instant. She then felt her forehead after a few minutes, making sure that she was going to be okay. And it seemed that she would be. And so, she left the room, which was where she saw that Axel had been waiting for her to come back out.
She closed the door behind herself, a sealed up scientific square container with the tooth in it in her hand.
"This was causing the problem. Rebekah will be alright now. Just one more hospital bag, and she should be good as new. At least, good enough to go find her own food to restore her strength after all of this. A vampire mutation seems to have bitten her. It must've been living in the sewers, if that's where she tried to escape."
"Sounds like a plan, because we're starting to lose the power that keeps this hospital safe. Either we need to leave, or I have to go find a new part for the generator. Because if those vampires want Vanessa so badly, they're going to get in soon if we don't have power on in this place," he replied and informed her.
"Then let's get all the supplies and weapons accounted for, and let's leave. We can leave in a few hours. I'm assuming the power will hold a little over a few hours, right?"
"Yes," he answered her.
"I'll get the supplies and equipment together then, and get it to the ambulance, if you disarm that booby trap of yours, so I can get in and out. You can make sure all the weapons are accounted for, and then we'll grab Rebekah in a few hours."
Even though he didn't like having to disarm it, he did as she wanted, since he knew it was quicker that way. They then worked on putting their plan into motion.
A few hours later, the doppelganger came in, taking the ivy out of her arm, which then healed itself as it should. She then called, "Rebekah?"
"What now?" the blonde inquired, hearing her, and looked to see her.
"Do you feel up for some traveling? We have to go before the power runs out. Axel didn't get the chance to find a new part for the hospital's generator, so we need to go before the vampires get in here."
The blonde was feeling more like herself, but still didn't have her full strength. She was able to sit up and start to get up, though. Then, when the doppelganger decided to help her, she let her, since she wasn't feeling up to arguing.
About half an hour later, Axel was driving with Rebekah and Kat in the back, and Kat having filled her in on everything. In turn, Rebekah told her everything she missed. In the meantime, Vanessa was in the passenger seat by Axel.
"Any idea where to?" Kat asked him.
"There should be an old military base. I'm not sure if it's still operational, but we can try that. Unless you have another idea in that head of yours."
"I do. Let's get as far as we can and then find a safe house before we move on. We have plenty of supplies at the moment, so we don't need anything else right now," Kat suggested.
"Fine by me," Axel replied.
"Good idea. It'll give me time to get my strength up. I'd like to eventually get back home," Rebekah told them.
Once they'd found a safe place in Nebraska after a few times or so of getting gas refilled, Kat had been going with Rebekah to help her find some people to get her strength back to normalcy. And it had helped quite a bit. Then when they'd both gotten back to the safe house, Kat went to one of the rooms to go lay down. Even though she'd had sleep on the way off and on, it hadn't been enough, so she was taking her chance. Besides, now that the Original was back to her normal strength, she knew that they had more than a little help with staying safe. Anyone smart enough would stay away from an older vampire, after all.
The next day, when Kat had woken up, Axel was making plans of where they'd be going next.
"I say we go to New Orleans. We'll find the rest of Rebekah's family there. Hopefully. Then we can go from there," Kat told him, before he could argue with them again as to where to go next.
"Fine," he replied, obviously not liking the idea, but knowing he couldn't persuade her once she set her mind to something.
"Sounds great," Rebekah commented, happy that she'd hopefully be able to finally get back to her siblings.
Many miles later, they arrived to a rundown city of New Orleans, which the Originals had called home for a long period of time. It didn't take long to find them. And so, together, they all were able to fight off the danger of the more vicious vampires, with Vanessa and Axel getting together, as well as Kat and Elijah forgiving and getting back together. And so, everything continued on.
