"Sophie probably needs to be changed." Addison snapped, abruptly getting up from her seat and going over to her high-chair, lifting her up and balancing her on her hip. "Jess, do you want to come with me to the bathroom?" She asked. I felt my cheeks burn, peeking over at Jake before eventually nodding, getting up to follow her.

"She's fine, Addison." Will said, his voice getting stern. She shook her head, ignoring him as she made her way towards the bathroom. I quickly followed behind.

Sophie looked back at me from over Addison's shoulder, peeking out from behind her hair. I flashed her a smile, giving her a gentle wave. She giggled, peeking out more, reaching her hands out towards me. Addison aggressively pushed open the door to the bathroom, making her way in. I sped up, quickly catching it before it closed on me.

"Have you ever changed a diaper before?" She asked, gently placing Sophie on the changing table. I felt my cheeks burn.

"Oh, um.. n-no." I laughed. She smiled, grabbing a new diaper out of her bag.

"Do you want to learn?"

"Um.. I..I don't-" She giggled to herself, taking off Sophie's dirty diaper, tossing it into the trash.

"It's okay. I have a feeling you won't have to lift a finger when it's your turn." My heart jumped.

My turn?

"W-what do you mean, my-"

"I mean.. I have a feeling Jake changed his mind. And from what I've seen.. I know he'll be very involved." She said, cleaning up Sophie and quickly slipping a new diaper on. I leaned back against the wall, looking down at Sophie who's smile grew, reaching her arms out towards me again. I couldn't help but smile, holding out my hand. She grabbed on tightly to my finger. My heart started beating faster as her gentle laughs turned into excited shrieks. Addison sighed, gently pushing the hair out of her face, helping her sit up.

"I really don't feel like going back just yet." She said softly, keeping her eyes on Sophie. I nodded.

"That's alright." I said, peeking up at her. I saw her face drop as she did her best to hold back tears. "Is.. is everything okay?" I asked. She shook her head, keeping her eyes down.

"I don't even know why I agreed to come tonight. I know how he gets. Like I'm not reminded every single day about how he could've been somebody. And now he sees one of his best friends living out his dream.. and I am never going to hear the end of it. How he settled for us. How I should be so thankful he asked me to marry him, like he's such a catch." She said, wiping her face. I held my stare on her, unsure of what to say.

"Addison, I.. I had no idea, you guys-"

"And then.. seeing Jake with Sophie.. I just-" She stopped, wiping her face again, forcing a smile for Sophie. "You're lucky to have someone like him." I bit down on my lip, nodding.

"I am." I sighed. "I know I am."

She nodded, gently rubbing Sophie's head.

"I want Sophie to have her dad but.. I don't want her growing up thinking this is normal. I never want her to think that.. this is how two people who love each other.. treat each other. It's not fair to her and it's not fair to me. He wasn't my first choice either.. and he's gonna act like we're the one's holding him back?"

Sophie reached her arms out for me, babbling loudly, her smile growing. Addison sighed, picking her up and holding her out to me. I hesitated, but eventually took her into my arms, holding her close. She clung to my shirt, staring up at me with wide eyes. I couldn't help but smile as she reached out for my face, gently touching my cheek.

"You two really are naturals." Addison sighed. I bit down on my lip, looking over at her.

"This is okay?" I asked, gently bouncing Sophie in my arms. Her laughter grew as she clung on tighter, now hiding her face in my chest.

"Yeah." She sighed. "That's great." I gently placed my hand behind her head, holding her close.

"I'm leaving him." Addison finally admitted. My stomach dropped as I stared back at her, wide-eyed.

"W-wh.. Addison.." I managed. She held her stare on Sophie, her eyes sad.

"It's time. Honestly, we probably should have never gotten married to begin with, but I got pregnant and.." She stopped, shrugging. "We were crazy about each other, at some point.. or so I thought. And he was great in the beginning.. but then.. the excitement wore off. And he realized he actually had to grow up.. and couldn't just be there when it was fun."

I held Sophie close, continuing to rock her back and forth as Addison wiped her eyes again. I wasn't sure what to say, and she could tell.

"Things change when you have kids. You always think they won't. You always think you're different, but.. no one's different. And.. if you can't grow together during it.. you'll just end up growing apart."

Sophie propped herself up, staring back at me with a huge smile. I gently ran my fingers down her cheek as she reached up, wrapping her tiny arms around my neck, resting her head on my shoulder. I could feel my heart melting in my chest as I gently rubbed my fingers up and down her back.

"D-do you want to have a family?" Addison asked. My heart jumped.

"One day." I said softly. She nodded, giving me a gentle smile.

"I.. I know you've only been together for a few months.." She said. "But.. is Jake-" I nodded, a smile escaping from my lips.

"Yeah." Her smile grew.

"I.. I would never tell you not to.. because I love Sophie more than anything in the world, and I don't regret a single thing. And.. if it was anyone else, I might tell you to just.. really think it through, but honestly.. I don't think you could've found anyone better. I think.. if you two ever wanted to.. you would be just fine." She sighed, her face dropping as she forced a smile. "And.. if you ever wanted practice, you and Jake are more than welcome to see Sophie whenever you want. In fact, I encourage it." She laughed. "He's incredible, and I don't think I would trust anyone more."

"I don't think I would either." I laughed. "Sometimes I think.. I won't feel good enough compared to him. If we ever decided to.. I feel like.. I won't have any idea what I'm doing. And he'll.. he'll be perfect, just like always." Addison held her stare on me, giving me a gentle smile.

"If it helps.. no one ever knows what they're doing." She giggled to herself. "But.. you'll figure it out together. That's the beauty of finding your person. You get to.. experience this together." I nodded, biting down on my lip. Sophie picked her head up, smiling back at me.

"Here.. I'll give you my number." Addison said, holding her hand out. I reached into my pocket, handing her my phone. "You can call me whenever you guys want. Just in case you want some.. advice. Or have any questions." She smirked.

"Thank you." I said softly.

Addison then went over to the sink, cleaning up as much as she could.

"Well.." She finally sighed. "I think we should head back. They probably think we ditched them." She reached out, gently taking Sophie from my arms, holding her close.

"And.. I'd appreciate it if you didn't mention any of this to.. anyone." She said softly. "I.. I haven't told anyone yet." I nodded, biting down on my lip. By anyone I assumed she meant Jake.

"Of course."

"Thank you." She sighed, leading us out of the bathroom.

"Hey.." I said as I slid back into my seat. Jake smiled over at me, instantly pulling my chair closer to him. I giggled to myself, squeezing his leg. He leaned over, gently kissing my cheek, staring back at me with dazed eyes.

"What's that for?" I whispered, my smile growing.

"Nothing." He sighed. "I just love you." I bit down on my lip, smirking back at him. I really was lucky.

"Well, I love you." I sighed, squeezing his leg again.

The rest of the night was a blur; I felt my body getting warmer and warmer with every glass of wine, doing my best to tune out the snide remarks from Addison and Will from across the table. Every so often I would squeeze Jake's leg, doing my best to contain my smile as I kept my eyes forward. I then felt him reach under the table, gently running his fingers up and down my arm. My skin burned where his touch lingered, my heart racing as his hand slowly found its way into mine, intertwining our fingers. It was crazy how even the slightest touch could send me into a whirlwind, and all I wanted was more.

"I think he's had enough." Addison finally said, getting up from her seat. I could tell she had reached her breaking point, and I honestly, I couldn't blame her. Will had become unbearable, taking advantage of Jake's generosity with his endless (heavy) pours throughout the entire night.

"Oh, I.. I can get you guys a car, or-" Jake said.

"No. It's okay, thank you, Jake. You've done more than enough for us. I'm fine to drive. Tonight has been great, thank you so much for inviting us. I'm sure.. he'll be talking about it for a long time." My stomach dropped.

I now hated the idea of Will holding the idea of this life over Addison's head, and after everything she told me, I'm sure she knew she would never hear the end of this.

"And it was so nice meeting you, Jess." She said, flashing me a smile, making her way over to Sophie's high-chair, quickly lifting her out. I felt my chest get tight as she reached out for Jake, now starting to scream as Addison brought her back over to her chair. Jake's grip on my hand got tighter, his face dropping and eyes getting sadder. I could tell this was killing him.

"It's okay, I'll see you soon!" He said, giving Sophie a gentle wave. Her screams got louder as she now started to cry. Will rolled his eyes, pouring what was left of the wine into his glass. Addison kept her eyes down, pulling Sophie's arms through the sleeves of her coat, clenching her jaw as Sophie continued to scream, pushing away from Addison, doing whatever she could to get back over to Jake. Finally, Addison gave in, handing her off into his arms. I felt my heart beat faster as he flashed Sophie a big smile, gently wiping her face with his sleeve.

"It's okay." He said in a cheerful voice. "I'm gonna see you soon! But you gotta be a big girl for your mommy, okay?" Sophie finally calmed down, doing her best to catch her breath as her cries turned into laughter, nuzzling her head into Jake's neck. I stared up at him, completely mesmerized, feeling my entire body get hot. I couldn't help but think about the day he'd be like this with our own baby.

I really was lucky.

He gently kissed her cheek, holding her close as he rocked her back and forth.

"See? You're okay. What a big girl you are!" He said, gently touching her nose as she sat up, staring back at him with a wide grin. He then reluctantly handed her back to Addison, keeping his eyes glued on her the entire time.

"Thanks again, Jake." Addison said, shooting Will another disgusted look. Will rolled his eyes as he tilted back his glass, finishing the rest of the wine. He pushed himself up from his chair and stumbled over to me, wrapping me in a tight hug. He then turned to Jake, leaning in close, muttering something into his ear. Jake nodded as he guided him back over towards Addison. I would be surprised if he could even walk out of the building on his own. I waited until they were finally out of earshot before turning to him.

"What the hell was that?" I asked. Jake shook his head, keeping his eyes forward.

"Nothing." He sighed, intertwining his fingers into mind. "Come on, let's head out."

He was silent the entire walk back to the bus, so I kept quiet. I wondered what they had talked about when Addison and I left. When we got back, I could tell something was off, but I didn't want to push it. Not until he was ready.

When we reached the bus, I finally stopped him, taking him by the hand and pulling him back before he opened the door. He turned to face me, giving me a questionable look.

"Jake.. are you okay?" I asked. My heart started beating faster as he stared back at me, biting down on his lip, tears eventually coming to his eyes. He then pulled me into a tight hug. I felt his heart pounding in his chest as I wrapped my arms around him, holding him close, gently caressing his back. I could feel his tears seeping through my shirt as he gripped me even tighter. I decided not to say anything, holding him as long as he needed to be held. When he finally calmed down, he moved away, his eyes bloodshot, his face blotchy, but his lips eventually curling into a sweet smile.

He reached up, gently touching my cheek, gazing back with dazed eyes. My smile grew as I held my stare on him, my eyes moving down to his lips.

"I love you." He sighed. My heart jumped, wanting nothing more than just to hold him again. I leaned in, caressing his face, gently kissing him on the lips. I felt him smile as he slowly moved away, leaning his forehead against mine.

"I love you more."

He bit down on his lip, shaking his head, smirking back at me. I took his hand, intertwining our fingers as I lead us onto the bus. Thankfully, everyone was already in their bunks. I lead him to the back room, quietly shutting the door behind us. He plopped down onto the bed, staring up at me with his usual loving gaze. I leaned in, gently lifting his shirt over his head, tossing it onto the floor. He did the same, tossing away my shirt, sliding off my pants, and throwing them into the pile of our clothes.

He then slid under the covers, reaching out for me. I couldn't help but smile, my heart beating faster as I crawled over to him, pulling him into a gentle kiss. I felt him sigh as he kissed me back harder, his hands gliding down my body, pulling me up against him, wrapping us both underneath the blankets. I tangled my fingers into his hair, pulling him into another kiss.

"D-do you.. still want to talk about it?" I asked. He hesitated for a moment, biting down on his lip, his cheeks burning red.

"Yeah." He said softly. I nodded, feeling my smile grow. I wrapped my arm around his stomach, lying my head down on his bare chest.

"Okay." I sighed. "Let's talk about it."
