Jake bolted offstage, running towards me as I snapped a few more photos before he grabbed me by the waist, lifting me up, and spinning me around.

"Jake!" I laughed, clinging on tight. I heard him giggling in my ear as he finally put me back down, staring back at me with a loving smile, his eyes eager.

I knew what he was waiting for.

"You were amazing." I laughed, wrapping my arms around him, pulling him into a kiss. His lips instantly curved into a smile, kissing me back harder.

"Thank you." He sighed, beaming from ear to ear, slipping his hand into mine. I had missed this so much.

"Come on." He said, leading me through the wings. "I told Will that I'd take us out for dinner tonight."

"You just want to play with their baby." I laughed, following closely. He giggled to himself as he turned around, smirking back at me.

"So?" He said jokingly, scrunching up his face. I held on tight to his arm, leaning my head on his shoulder.

"It's adorable." I said softly. He smirked down at me.

"You know, you could have that all the time if we just-"

"No, Jake." I laughed.

"Alright, alright.." He sighed. My cheeks burned as I peeked back up at him, feeling my heart beat faster.

"We'll talk about it later." I whispered. His smile grew as he leaned down, kissing the top of my head before leading us back into the dressing room.

"That was awesome!" Will said, hopping up from his seat. Addison smiled over at us as Sophie sat up on her lap, noise-cancelling headphones still on her head. Jake laughed, making his way over to her.

"I love when kids have to wear the huge headphones." He said, crouching down to her eye level. Sophie quickly turned around, excitedly reaching out for Jake. Addison took off the headphones, handing her back over to him. Sophie practically jumped out of her arms, clinging onto Jake's shirt. I felt my heart melting in my chest as she reached up, holding his face in her tiny hands. He flashed her a toothy grin, gently touching her noise, where she let out a screeching laugh.

He was making this impossible for me. Part of me felt like he was doing this on purpose. And it was working. It was absolutely working.

"We ready to head out?" Jake said, standing back up, holding Sophie close.

"You want me to take her?" Will asked. "You don't have to be her babysitter." Jake shook his head, giving him a gentle smile.

"No, no.. it's your night out. It's okay. I don't mind." He said, looking back over at her. She smiled back at him, leaning her head against his. His smile grew as she reached over for his hand, tightly holding onto his finger again.

"Alright, well.. once you get tired of her, feel free to hand her over." Will said, as we all made our way out of the dressing room. I saw Jake smirk, keeping his eyes forward.

"I don't see that happening." He said softly.

When we got to the restaurant, Jake lead us inside to a secluded table towards the back of the room. I could see there was already a high-chair set up at the end. He gently placed Sophie into the chair, sitting down next to her. I made my way around, sitting down next to him. He smirked over at me, pulling my chair closer to his.

"Drinks for the table?" Jake asked, looking around.

"Absolutely." Will quickly said. Addison shot him a look, but he didn't seem to notice. I peeked up at Jake who kept his eyes forward, waving down one of the waitresses.

"What can I get started for you today?" She asked cheerfully.

"We'll just get a bottle of wine for the table, and waters for everyone." He said with a smile. She quickly made her way back with glasses, placing them down in front of everyone. When she got to him, he stopped her.

"None for me. But she can have as much as she wants." He giggled, motioning towards me. I couldn't help but smile, feeling my cheeks burn. He peeked over at me, giving me a subtle smirk.

"None for you?" Will asked, instantly taking a big sip. I could see Addison's face getting more tense. "But you're the rockstar!" Jake shrugged, giggling to himself.

"Yeah, but.. it gets old after a while." He sighed. "Don't worry. It's on me. Enjoy yourself." Will shrugged, taking another big sip.

"So, how long have you guys been together?" Addison asked, trying to change the subject. Jake's smile grew, his cheeks burning red as he peeked over at me.

"Well, um.. I guess.. when did the tour start?" I asked, looking back up at him. He shrugged.

"Feels like a lifetime ago." He said happily. "A few months." He said, turning back to her.

"So you two are serious." Will said, chiming in. My cheeks burned.

"Y-yeah.. you can say that." He nodded, taking another sip. Addison shot him another look, then quickly turned back to us, forcing a smile.

"Well, Jake seems very happy. We always wondered what would happen, with him being on the road and all, and when he said he didn't want a family well, we just assumed-"

"How about you guys?" Jake asked, cutting her off. He turned to Will who was already pouring himself another glass of wine. "How's being a dad?" Will smiled, gently messing up Sophie's hair.

"It's great." He said simply, taking a sip. I heard Addison sigh, as she got up from the table.

"Sophie probably needs to be changed." She said, going over to her and picking her up out of her high-chair. "Jess, do you want to come with me to the bathroom?" I hesitated, but eventually nodded, getting up.

"She's fine, Addison." Will said, his voice getting stern. I felt my cheeks burn as she shook her head, ignoring him as she made her way towards the bathroom. I quickly followed behind her.

Jess shot me a confused look before getting up, following Addison to the bathroom. I watched as she made her way through the restaurant, disappearing around the corner.

"You love her." Will said. My cheeks burned. I turned around to see him staring back at me, his second glass of wine already half empty.

"I do." I said softly. He nodded, giving me a subtle smile.

"I can tell." I held my stare on him, feeling my face get hot.

"How are things with Addison?" He shrugged, rolling his eyes, taking another big sip.

"They're.. fine." He sighed, reaching over for the bottle again. I peeked over towards the bathroom, hoping Jess would be back soon.

"Things are fine. Everything's fine. It's just.." He trailed off. I turned back to him.

"It's just what?" I asked.

"It's just.. she isn't the one." He finally sighed.

"W-what do you mean? But.. but you guys-"

"Yeah, I mean, don't get me wrong.. I love her, I love Sophie.. but.. she wasn't the one. But.. you just have to find ways to be happy with the life you're given, right?" My heart dropped. I thought back to the girlfriend Will had had before Addison.

"Have you spoken to Victoria?" I asked, peeking back over at the bathroom. Will shook his head, keeping his eyes down as he twirled his glass.

"Just once.. the night before Addison and I got married. I guess.. part of me just.. had to make sure, you know? But.. she had already married someone else."

"Will, I.. I'm sorry.. I.. what happened between you two?" I asked. No one had ever really asked about Victoria when he stopped bringing her around. We never really.. knew how to.

"What always happens?" He said, shrugging, taking another sip. "You get comfortable, and then you forget that they are the most important person in the world to you, and then one day.. they're gone. And it's too late. Cause they find someone new who doesn't forget, someone who doesn't get comfortable.."

I held my stare on him for a moment, unsure of what to say. I looked over at my empty glass, and then the bottle of wine, but quickly shook the thought.

"Is Jess the one?" He finally blurted out. My heart jumped as my cheeks burned bright red.

"Yeah.." I sighed. "She is." He nodded, smiling back at me.

"Well, then take it from me. If she's the one.. don't get comfortable. Because if you're lucky enough to get to be with your one.. then you're luckier than most. So don't fuck it up." I bit down on my lip, feeling my heart beat faster.

"I bought a ring." I said softly. He stared back at me, wide-eyed. "Do you want to see?"

"You have it with you?" He asked. "Were you.. were you gonna do it tonight?" I shook my head, reaching into the pocket of my jacket, pulling out the little black box.

"No.." I said, placing it down on the table, quickly peeking back over towards the bathroom. "I just always have it on me. Just in case. I want it to be perfect."

He hesitated before reaching out for the box, slowly opening it.

"Well, shit!" He said, staring back, his eyes wide. "That's huge. That's gonna break her wrist. She's that great, huh?" I laughed, grabbing the box from him, quickly putting it back into my pocket before Jess came back.

"Yeah.." I sighed, a smile escaping my lips. "She is. And.. I.. well.." He smirked back at me, crossing his arms and leaning back in his chair.

"You have gotten soft." He laughed, flashing me a smile. I shrugged, rolling my eyes.

"Maybe I have." I said softly. "But.. only for her. And.. well, I.. I don't know.. I think.. I changed my mind.. on the whole.. no kids thing." He giggled to himself, taking another sip, finishing his glass.

"Rethink it." He said. My stomach dropped.

"W-what do you mean?" I asked.

"I mean.. rethink it. You're living the dream.. don't get wrapped up in something that'll ruin that for you."

"I.. I don't think it'll-"

"Don't get me wrong. I love Sophie.. but.. sometimes I feel guilty because.. there are somedays.. I would trade it all, just to have what you have. So.. just appreciate it. If you want to get married, then so be it, but.. don't tie yourself down."

I held my stare on him, feeling my face get hot again. This wasn't the Will I remembered.

"Hey.." I finally heard next to me as Jess sat back down. I smiled over at her, pulling her chair up against mine. My heart started racing as she laughed, gently squeezing my leg. Leaning over, I gently kissed her on the cheek, staring back with dazed eyes.

"What's that for?" She whispered, flashing me that same sweet smile I loved so much.

"Nothing." I sighed. "I just love you." She smirked back at me, her cheeks burning red.

"Well, I love you." She breathed, gently squeezing my leg again.

The rest of the night was filled with empty conversation about Will's job that he clearly hated, and passive aggressive comments from Addison about how he should be trying harder at a life he never really wanted. Every so often Jess would gently squeeze my leg, a small smile spreading across her lips as she kept her eyes forward, but I always knew it was meant just for me. I reached under the table, gently running my fingers up and down her arm, counting down the minutes until the night was over.

"I think he's had enough." Addison finally said, a little too loudly.

"Oh, I.. I can get you guys a car, or-" I started.

"No. It's okay, thank you, Jake. You've done more than enough for us. I'm fine to drive. Tonight has been great, thank you so much for inviting us. I'm sure.. he'll be talking about it for a long time." My stomach dropped.

I'm sure he would be.

"And it was so nice meeting you, Jess." She said, flashing her a smile, making her way over to the high-chair, quickly lifting Sophie out. Sophie reached out for me, now starting to scream as Addison brought her back over to her chair. I felt my chest get tight.

"It's okay, I'll see you soon!" I said, giving Sophie a gentle wave. Her screams got louder as tears started to fall. Addison ignored them as she quickly pulled Sophie's arms through the sleeves of her coat, lifting her back up in her arms. I got up, making my way over to the other side of the table, where Sophie reached out again, trying to push herself away from Addison. Addison clenched her jaw, but eventually passed Sophie off into my arms.

"It's okay." I said, in as cheerful of a voice as I could manage. "I'm gonna see you soon! But you gotta be a big girl for your mommy, okay?" Deep down I knew I wouldn't be seeing her anytime soon, if ever again. Not if Addison had anything to do with it. Not after how Will got. Sophie eventually calmed down as I gently wiped her eyes, giving her a small kiss on the cheek.

"See? You're okay. What a big girl you are!" I said softly, gently touching her nose. Her heavy breaths turned to gentle laughter as she cuddled her head into my neck. I felt my heart breaking in my chest. I didn't want to let her go, but I reluctantly handed her back over to Addison, who flashed me another fake smile.

"Thanks again, Jake." Addison said, shooting Will another look. Will rolled his eyes, pushing himself up from his chair, stumbling over to Jess, wrapping her in a hug, and then made his way over to me.

"Don't fuck it up." He said, grabbing onto my shoulders before eventually following Addison out of the building. Jess waited until they were out of earshot before turning to me, gently touching my hand.

"What the hell was that?" She asked. I shook my head.

"Nothing." I sighed, intertwining my fingers into hers. "Come on, let's head out."

The walk back to the bus was silent for the most part. I couldn't help but wonder if Will was right. I was living my dream right now. Did I really want to turn out like that? Is that how I would feel once Jess and I got married and had kids? Life was perfect right now.. did I really want to mess it all up now? I peeked down at Jess, who immediately looked back up at me, her eyes in a lovestruck gaze, a gentle smile spread across her lips. And in that moment.. I knew.

I wasn't Will. Jess wasn't Addison. Jess was the one. And we could have everything. And we would be just fine.

When we got back to the bus, Jess stopped me, pulling me back before I opened the door. I turned back to her, giving her a questionable look.

"Jake.. are you okay?" She finally asked. I nodded, eventually feeling tears come to my eyes. I bit down on my lip, pulling her into tight hug. Her heart beat against mine as she clutched me tightly. I felt so safe in her arms as she gently caressed my back. She held me in her loving embrace as long as I needed, refusing to be the first one to let go as my heavy breaths subsided. When I finally backed away, she stared up at me, gently wiping my face. I became hypnotized the longer I stared, feeling at home in every freckle and crevice of her warm, hazel eyes. My heart jumped.

Hazel.

I couldn't help but smile, reaching up, gently touching her cheek. Her smile grew as she held her stare on me, her eyes moving down to my lips.

"I love you." I sighed. She leaned in, kissing me so gently I thought my heart was going to explode.

"I love you more."
