Looking on the mirror while attempting to fix my sweat hand before grabbing the duffel bag on my bed. I looked at myself one last time in the mirror before heading downstairs. When arrived downstairs, a scent of food being cooked greeted my nostrils. A smile spread on my lips as I made my way to the kitchen, where my twin sister was leaning on the counter.
I took a seat one of the stools as I watched Yeji reading something from the book on her hand, I tilted my head to side to see what she's up to. It seems like she still haven't noticed my presence so I cleared out my throat to let her know.
She looked startled but relaxed when saw that it was just me,, she greeted me with a smile on her face before placing the book down.
I gave her a short nod, , I replied. Yeji turned off the stove before setting up the plate, , I half teased, half mocked my sister.
, she playfully rolled her eyes at me. She placed a good amount of food on the plate, , she spat.
I playfully scoffed, , I smirked at her.
Yeji raised her eyebrow at me, , she told me.
Her remark made me burst out laughing while clapping my hands like a seal, , I defended which made her laugh.
, i heard her mumble her breath. , she turned around while raising a knife, which almost felt like she was threatening me.
I widened my eyes, raising my arms at her in surrender. , I played along. She finally made her towards me and placed food in front of me, i picked up the spoon and begun digging in because I'm starving. Cordon bleu and onion soup. Yum.
She took off her apron and practically tossed it on the counter before taking a seat at one of the stool in front of me. She propped her elbows on the table and watched me enjoy the food she ate, she chuckled and reached over for my head and patted it softly.

, she asked me with bright eyes.
I gulped down the food and gave her a thumbs up, , i complimented.
The comment made her giggle,
, I joke but thankfully she wasn't able to hear it clearly due that my mouth if full.
Shoes roughly squeaking on the basketball court can be heard as soon as I entered the basketball court. A few heads turned to look at my direction upon my arrival, I slightly bowed at them with a smile on my face as I passed by them.
I was able no notice a few familiar faces but there was no sign of any of my old friends. Given that I was the only sporty one in our circle of friends, sure, Yeji was part of the school's dance troupe and can dance really well. But I doubt that dancing is actually not considered as a sport.
Soobin might look really fit and should probably join the football club or something, he decided to just stick around his studies and he eventually ran for a position in the student council. On the other hand, Shuhua doesn't look like the sporty type but she's a little athletic, she's more on being picked to represent as the school's representative when competing with other schools.
Meanwhile, Heejin who looks strong and is confirmed very strong, but she took the same path her bestfriend, Soobin. She decided to focus on her studies and look at her now, she's the president of our school's student council.
I decided to take a seat one of the benches, watching the other students who were doing warm ups or either practicing for the tryouts. Sitting there for a while, I glanced at my wrist watch and noticed that it's a bit too early. The try outs starts at around 2, while it's literally 11:30 in the morning. I decided to jog around the campus for a bit, to kill some time.

Grabbing my duffel bag, I left the building and jogged around the campus in a casual pace. A few minutes have passed and I was panting and sweating like crazy, a bit thirsty too. I decided to take a break first and leaned on one of the nearby trees before opening the duffel bag. Only to find out that I actually forgot to bright my water jug.
I sighed, facepalming myself as I thought where I probably left it. I shook my head when I suddenly remembered that I must have left it on the counter. Since I literally don't have any choice but to buy my own water, I jogged to the cafeteria and bought one.
Once I got there, I spotted a group of students in the cafeteria as well. It seems like they're all having their lunch together since they've practically connected the two long tables together so they could sit next to each other.
I decided to ignore them for now since my main priority on why I came here is water. I quickly bought a cold and nice water. I slightly bowed at her with a smile, I didn't waste any more time and began chugging it down my throat.
, I heard a deep voice. I turned to look to see who it was and saw a blonde kid wearing a basketball jersey outfit. When he also noticed my presence he turned to face me, , he raised his eyebrow at me.
I have to say, I was a bit intimidated when I heard his deep ass voice. I nodded at his question, , I mumbled before proceeding to finish my bottle of water.
What I didn't expect was that he suddenly stuck his hand out with a smile on his face, I looked at him before I reached out to shake his hand. , he introduced himself.
, I flashed my infamous dimple at him.
He patted my shoulder, , I gave him a short nod before he excused himself.
I threw my empty water bottle at nearby trash can when something my attention from afar. I raised up my head when I heard someone mention my name. It was only now that I managed to spot Heejin and Soobin on the group of students from earlier. What are they doing here?

A Standard Model of Magic
The world ended, and magic came back. The part our parents didn't expect, was for Science to break on reentry. Twenty years after the apocalypse, with our nations dismantled and hidden continents unearthed, a new generation has grown up in the wreckage of 21st century civilization. For us, the fantastic is at our doorstep and we have had no choice but to fight back. Meanwhile, the laws of nature bend and break at the whims of immortal gods, all of which are now dead and none of which are content to stay that way. But we cannot afford to give up. We are the stewards of a rewritten century, in which a little luck and a whole lot of magic might make anything possible – maybe even a world better than the one we lost. A Standard Model of Magic is a complete overhaul of my old story A Storm in the Fall. I'm afraid I was unhappy with the LitRPG elements, which I don't mind reading, but I apparently loath writing. Sorry. Once I'd made the choice to decouple the story from the OF that inspired it and reconfigure the magic system to my satisfaction, little of the original plotline survived. I will be salvaging most of my original characters, and I will keep some elements which are endemic to the genre, but that is all. I don't have an update schedule which I can commit to yet, but I will try to maintain a weekly pace.(This is currently RoyalRoad exclusive, since I'm lazy. If you find it posted elsewhere, it wasn't me and it wasn't with permission) If you're interested, I've set up a discord.
