Ok, so there's this boy who I'm friends with (we've known each other for about a year) and at the end of the school year, I started having a crush on him. I haven't seen him all summer, but we keep in touch via texts and calls.

He's very nice to me, makes jokes, and sometimes even opens up to me about his feelings. He even teases me sometimes, which is apparently a sign of attraction. We also have our own inside joke. He tries to reply to my texts every day. However, he's never the first to text or call me, he isn't flirting, and when I asked at the beginning of the summer, he said he's never had a crush.

Do you think he's started liking me? Or does he just want to be friends? Oh, and he once sent me a heart, but it might've been friendly or accidental.

I think this "thing" between you two does have some potential. The things you listed above are indeed signs of attraction, but if he says he's never had a crush before, then he might be having a hard time coping with his feelings (in case he actually likes you). He may not know how to go about what he's feeling, hence this being the first time he likes someone, and that's the reason he might be a little bit more shy and reluctant around you.

He probably doesn't know what to do and since he doesn't know that you like him, he's most likely waiting around for a sign from you first.

I think you should venture deeper into this crush topic and ask him more about his feelings. See what other things you discover about him. And maybe, if he asks you about your feelings in return, you can even try and tell him how you feel. That would be a good moment to tell him that you like him without it being too random.

So, here comes the mantra everyone is already sick of.
