So I used to like this boy in 6th grade, he was my bestfriend. And he told me he liked me back. But, he ended up dating my other friend. And they were so happy. Eventually I got over him... or so I think.

A couple of days ago I was on a school trip to D.C. and he confessed his feelings for my other bestfriend (he broke up with the last one, she was a lesbian). She didn' like him that way, and he was so crushed...

But I went to his birthday and I was the only one who showed up from school. I'm in 7th grade now, by the way. I'm 13. And something happened , like my feelings were rekindled. Every time he would smile at me I would blush and feel this constant adrenaline... I think I like him again. But he likes my bestfriend. I don't know what to do. Please help...

: Yeah, you definitely like him again. So, you have two choices. Either tell him and allow this pain to finally lift off your shoulders, or don't tell him at all and try to move on on your own - which is quite unlikely, because as long as you still have hopes that he might like you back, you won't be able to move on from him.

Naturally, I'd say you should choose option one. If you read the other chapters of this book, then you already know that this is always going to be my advice. Always.

: I agree with Rock here. You're young, you have so many experiences ahead of you. These things, these crushes, they come and go. Worst case scenario, he rejects you, and then you eventually move on. Once and for all. Rejections make you stronger, especially at your age. They might seem the Dracula of love lives, but in all honesty, they play a huge role in anyone's life. And you move on from them, too. Trust me.

Plus, even if he rejects you, there's no reason you guys can't still be friends. Like I said, at your age, these things come and go, so it shouldn't be impossible.

: I think you should try and talk to him. The liking-your-best-friend thing is indeed messy, but she obviously doesn't like him back, so he will have to find a way to move on from her as well - in case he hasn't already.

So just try it. Baby steps. Little by little. Bring up this topic. Ask him about his feelings. See how he responds. Plus, there's a chance he already knows you like him, and he won't be so surprised if you bring this up. Just take a chance and see what happens. Confessions are an important part of life, too!
