《Crush Advice》3. Close as strangers

The song above is a dedication for the girl asking for my advice. I simply had to share it. I'm sorry.

_______

I've liked this guy for about a year now. He's two years older than I am. We started off as friends but we were really close to each other, and he acted like he was actually interested in me.

One day, when went on a field trip together and it just seemed that he was about to kiss me, the teacher interrupted us, saying that we needed to go. After that we went with our groups and he kept winking and smirking at me.

Three days later, I told him that I liked him. The teacher interrupts us again. We ended up parting ways since school had ended and Summer had begun.

Unfortunately, he switched schools because his parents wanted him to. I didn't get to see him until two months ago. When I saw him, I waved and simply left and that's what he did too, but his eyes held pity in them.

I really don't know what to think about this situation. It seems like we're just strangers who share memories now.

_______

It seems to me that there has clearly been something between you two. That field trip say it all. He'd gathered the courage to make his first move, and just when you were about to have one magical moment, the teacher interrupts. Way to go, teacher. Ruining a kiss scene ripped straight from the movies.

Unfortunately, it looks like the school system may have something against you. With him switching schools, drifting apart is inevitable. But what did he say after you told him that you liked him? Because if he reacted in a good way, but you simply did not have enough time to discuss it more, then he's probably in the same situation as you are.

According to (and myself), one thing you could do is

It's such a shame to lose something so important before you even get to try. I know it might seem like something a little out of the blue, but it's still worth trying.

How's the new school, his classmates, the teachers. See how he responds. If he's interested in the conversation, move on to some deeper topics. Maybe even tell him that you miss him, and try to redirect the conversation to that school trip. See his side of things. Who knows, the conversation might even lead to some unexpected things. You just never know...

_______

Well, this was our advice for you. We wish you all the best and we hope you two will get to relive some of those memories... Without the teacher ;)
