Hey!
It is true that no one will ever truly understand how you feel exactly, but other people have also faced similar situations and if they can pass through those moments bravely, so can you. So, it will get better, trust in that.
I understand that not having a best friend feels a bit lonely and you might seem alienated, but having even a few people with whom you can laugh and joke is a blessing. Romanticize friendships; you don't have to be close enough to share everything but love the people that are already around you, even if they're temporary. And if you haven't found a best friend yet, I am sure that more people will come and go in the town where you live, and maybe someday your destined best friend will come too, but rather than waiting for a best friend, cherish the friendships you already have. Any friendship can be meaningful even if that person isn't your best friend in the world. Don't discount the relationships you've already made!
About your mom, since she's a nice person, try to talk to her about her temper and anger issues when she's in a good mood. You can only work through familial issues by communicating with each other. Don't be afraid to approach her, she might get mad at you but at least she'll be aware that she is having a bad temper. It is much better to get your feelings and perspective out there for her to see than for you to keep it to yourself and grow resentful or angry.
As for your sleep, perhaps you should tell your parents that you require a small fan. AC units are usually expensive, so maybe a small standing fan that swivels from one side to another can help. Chamomile tea is very good for insomnia and sleep, if you're into tea, I recommend that you try it out. There are all sorts of holistic (non-pharmaceutical) sleep aids out there from teas and herbal supplements to regular vitamins! Sometimes our bodies have trouble processing or maybe just don't get enough of a certain vitamin or mineral. Vitamins B-12, A, and D can help fight insomnia, as well as iron and magnesium. Maybe check out valerian root as well. It's been used for centuries to help treat insomnia, and I've used it for the same purpose myself!

And you're still in 8th grade, you're simply in 8th grade. You have an entire life ahead of you! Even if you're 17, as long as you're a minor by law, you're considered a child legally. Don't listen to adults who have lost their childhood. You can be childish even in your twenties and thirties. Forget about careers for now and try focusing more on what your interests are. Now is a time for you to learn about yourself and your interests without the stresses of adulthood. It's a period of continual growth and change. That's natural. You don't have to bother with careers right now at all, you have a long way to go before you can reach there.
Once again, you're still in your childhood phase. You haven't lost anything, time simply went by as you spent it. Staying inside your house didn't make you lose any more time. Please don't focus on anyone's expectations from you, and let yourself be you whether that is childish, mature, or neither. You still have loads of golden years ahead of you, don't worry about it. The funny thing about the golden time is that it's always in the present even when it looks like it was in the past. Your golden time is right now. Live it!
Please don't hesitate to come back again.
Thank you,

The 900 lives
Sabela is an 18 year old girl who lived all her life away from civilisation, in a hut with, her father and brother, working day in and day out in the boring job of cutting down trees. Fortunately, this is not the end of her adventure, because Sabela receives a gift from a mysterious force: 900 more lives, which she can use to become a legendary adventurer and put an end to the life of her mother's murderer, Maeloc. This is how Sabela begins her adventure, one in which she will meet allies such as Rodolfo, a somewhat snooty healer, Melinda, a bit irritating snotty wizard, and Laura, an art history teacher who doesn't know really well what she is doing in a fantasy world. The Arcane Prince
Book 1 is complete and fully posted here on RoyalRoad. The story is on break as I work on Book 2, which will be posted once I have finished writing it. Max is a twelve-year-old boy from the slums who dreams of seeing the world, learning magic, and adventure. On the same day that Max learns his first spell, he meets Colt, a noble-born lad on his own path to power. Colt is kind. Oblivious to the world, but kind. By his grace, Max begins to learn under Colt's instructor, even hunting monsters in the forests to the north. Max is talented and grows in power quickly, but as he prepares for the first of his adventures, the kingdom faces the greatest threat in centuries. Posting Schedule: Every 3 days until the end of Book 1 (Chapter 45). IMPORTANT NOTES: 1) This is a story about an OP boy doing OP boy things. By the end of Book 1, there will be few fights that he struggles with, and he will rarely, if ever, find his life in peril. 2) This is a slice-of-life and adventure story, which means that there will be periods of chapters without any action or conflict, but also periods of chapters with battles and exploration/adventure (the latter mostly being Book 2+). 3) There will be NO petty squabbles or conflicts going on in this story, because it is meant to be a fun one, not a high-tension, drama-filled story. So it will NOT be that. If you want lots of action or lots of conflict, then find another story to read because this isn't it. 4) There will never be an overarching evil/villain/conflict to deal with in this story past Book 1. Ever. 5) Book 1 is entirely written and can be considered a standalone story on its own. Right now, the story may last 2-3 books, or it may last 7-10 books. It is guaranteed to make it through Book 2 or 3, and if I decide to go with the bigger journey I have planned after that, then it will be longer. There will be a several-month wait between Book 1 and Book 2. 6) The story contains the sexual content tag, but it will not contain any unless Max and his future boyfriend reach 18+ years of age in-story. If I decide to bring the story to a conclusion with Book 2 or 3, or they never reach that age in the full story for the long journey, then I will remove the tag. 7) There are currently absolutely no plans to make this story into a harem if I write the extended story. If I write the extended story and decide at some point to make it one, then I will add the appropriate tag and inform readers of this decision. However, there are currently zero plans to make it one. 8) This story takes place in its own story universe, with its own rules. Please keep that in mind when reading it and other stories.
