Advice Request

This person needs advice on how do we know if someone likes us or how do we get them to like us.

Hello! Please don’t be worried that we’ll think your request is dumb or anything because we will provide advice for all sorts of problems to the best of our abilities! Feel free to come to us again if you find our advice helpful.

There are a lot of ways to figure out whether someone likes you or not. There’s the direct approach where you ask them yourself by confessing to them without hesitation, but I know most people, including me, would not feel too confident in being that upfront. Other ways would be:

1. Try to determine whether he’s treating you any different than other people. Is he more attentive when he’s with you? Does he pay more attention to you? Is he more sensitive about stuff related to you? What I realised from this one friend of mine was that he would drop anything that he’s doing just for this person he liked.

2. Observe his body language when he’s around you. I’ve always read and heard people said that when you like someone, you tend to turn your legs towards them. However, until today, I’ve yet to confirm how far that tip is true but with how many people talking about it, there must be a certain level of truth in that tip. You can also observe whether he makes a lot of eye contact with you or not.

3. Does he find time to spend with you or being around you in general? It is pretty normal for people who like someone to want to spend time with the person that they like.

4. If you guys are texting with each other, you can try to figure out whether he likes you from his way of texting and your frequency of texting. If you guys always talk to each other on the phone and even during the holidays, I think there is a high chance that he might like you. Though, this one is not definite because he might just be friendly with a lot of people.

The previous tips would be more towards if you’re crushing on someone that you are friends with or at least someone that you already have some sort of relations with him like being in the same group for an assignment or classmates. If you’re crushing on someone that’s more of a stranger to you (a senior that you only see from afar or the guy from the next class over), it’s pretty hard to figure out whether they have feelings for you because of the distance between you guys and also the lack of contact that you guys have. You can still try to figure out through his body language when he’s around you. However, based on my own experience, it is pretty hard to really find out if they have feelings for you when it’s someone that you’re not talking to. Also, all those tips before can only help you in guessing if he has feelings for you or not but it is not definite. To really determine if he likes you, you would have to confirm it yourself from him. However, you can use the previous tips as guides because I’m sure you would feel more confident in asking him about it after you have at least made sure that he have interest in you.

How to get a guy to like you?

1. If you guys are not yet talking to each other or friends, it would be good to start on that first and begin to spend time with each other more and more each day. Getting to know someone more is a good step when you like someone both for you who like him and also for you to make him fall for you.

2. Be yourself. Don’t ever try to change yourself to fit his ideals because in the long run, you won’t feel happy. I find people who stay true to themselves are attractive and I’m sure that a lot of other people feel the same. Don’t forget to be confident in who you are because confident people are also attractive. If someone likes me is being timid and quiet in front of me, I wouldn’t really think they like me and I would most likely wonder if they don’t like me.

3. Show that you’re interested in him. Make conscious effort to show that you’re interested in him by asking him to hang out together or try to talk to him more.

4. If you’re confident that he might also be interested in you, you can tell him directly that you’re interested in him as more than friends and hope that he could maybe think of the idea of begin dating each other. You don’t have to officially declare that you guys are in a relationship but by telling him, he knows that you want to be in a relationship with him and he might be more open about seeing you romantically and not just as a friend. You guys can also try to go on a date with each other anywhere even if you’re not yet a couple.
