《The red one | Sam U'ley》Chapter nine

I sat in bed with my thoughts. Bella had been out of it since the incident with Jacob, calling him everyday. Billy said that he had mono but Bella being Bella doesn't believe him.
Sam hasn't called either...or texted or even stoped by. I don't know how to feel anymore. First he says he likes me and then he leaves and doesn't say anything. There's this feeling in my heart, almost like it's breaking being about from him.
All of a sudden Bella came into my room.
"Will you come to check in Jake with me please, I don't really want to go alone," she said as she looked down and back up at me. I gave her a nod.
"Yeah, just give me a second to get dressed and I'll be done. Wait for me in the car?" I asked. She nodded and walked out. I got dressed fairly quick. It was pouring outside, but that wasn't knew around here.
Once I had in the outfit I looked back into the corner of the room. I had sat sams jacket down after I came home and haven't touched it since. I sighed as I walked over to it and put it on. This is as close as I was going to get to him, it still smelt like him.
Her outfit. (The green flannel/ jacket is Sam's, the one that he gave her"
I walked downstairs and got into the car.
"Do you think he really had mono," Bella asked me. I looked over at her and sighed.
"I really don't know Bella, but if billy said he did then he most likely does because why would billy lie," I said. Bella looked over at me and nodded. I gave her a small smile and looked out the window.
"I forgot to ask you, who's jacket is that," Bella asked. I looked over at her as a small blush came onto my cheeks.
"It's, um, Sams," I whispered.
"Sam U'ley?" Bella questioned loudly. I let out a small laugh and nodded. She looked over at me with a small smile.
"When did that happen," she asked.
"I don't really know, I don't even think we are anything, I want us to be, but I don't think he feels for me that way," I said as I played with the ends of the jacket.

"Sam's a stupid guy if he doesn't,"Bella said as we turned the corner. I looked up to see Billy's house. It was a bit hard because it was raining. I looked closer to see....Jake? He had cut all of his hair off and had what looked to be a tattoo on his shoulder.
The same tattoo Sam and them have.
"Is that Jake," I asked. Bella looked over at me,
"Looks like billy lied," Bella said as she got out of the car. I got out too and walked over with her. I stayed a bit back, but close enough so I could hear them.
"Jake, Hey!" Bella called out. Jacob stopped walking and turned around. He had this angry look on his face.
"You cut your hair off? And got a tattoo," Bella said looking over him.
"Bella-"
"I thought you were too sick to come outside, or answer the phone when I call."
"Go away, you too river," Jake said as he looked over to me. He gave me this look at gave me a feeling, a feeling like we shouldn't be here.
"Bella-" I started talking, but was cut off by Bella.
"what?" Bella asked, ignoring me. I sighed. If Bella didn't want to listen to me she didn't have to. I pushed my wet hair out of my face and listened to Bella and Jake.
"Go away, both of you," Jake said.
"What happened to you, what's wrong, hey!" Jake tried walking away, but Bella stopped him by grabbing his arm. "What happened? Did Sam get to you? Is that what's happening," Bella said.
"Bella!" I called out. How could she say something like this. I know I'm mad and upset at him, but Bella has bo right saying something like that about him. Bella looked over at me and gave me a apologetic look before turning back to Jake.
"Sams trying to help me. Don't blame him." Jake said with a humorless laugh. "But if you want someone to blame, blame those filthy blood suckers you love, the cullens." Jake said looking Bella dead in the eye. Blood suckers? Was that some sort of inside joke between them or something.
"I don't know what your talking about-"
"You know exactly what I'm talking about" Jake cut her off. "You've been lying to everyone, Charlie, and river, but you can't lie to me, not anymore," Jake said. She's lying to me? I looked at Bella to see her ignoring my glance. Wow. That's just great.

"Jacob! Jacob!" A man called from the woods. I looked over to see....sam, and some other guys I met at the fire. Are you kidding me. This is what he's doing. I saw sam look over at me. He gave me an apologetic smile, one that I didn't return. I think he noticed I wasn't going to so he looked down. I shook my head and let out a humorless laugh.
"....and don't come back, or your gonna get hurt. Take river with you." Jake said as he turned and ran into the woods, leaving me and Bella there. I turned to Bella.
"What aren't you telling me Bella," I asked her. She looked over at me and walked away, back to the car, I scoffed and walked over to her. I got in the car to see Bella had tears in her eyes. I sighed and rubbed her back.
"Look, you don't have to explain anything to me now, but please tell me soon, I hate being left in the dark." I said. Bella took a deep breath before looking at me with a slight smile and turned the car on and took off.
Once we got home Bella walked up to her room and stayed there. I sighed as I walked up to my room and sat down. I hate this. I hate that people leave me in the dark, not telling me anything.
I need to do something, something I like to get me out of this mood. I looked over to see some art pencils and paper I bought. I got changed into some comfy clothes and started drawing. I wasn't the best at it, but it felt nice to do something I used to love.
After a while of drawing I got up to get something to drink. As I was pouring a glass of water I heard a knock at the door. I froze and looked over my shoulder at the clock. It was 11 pm who would be here at this time. I slowly walked to the door and put my ear to it.
"Who is it," I ask quietly.
"It's Sam," I heard. I rolled my eyes.
"What do you want," I said. I heard Sam sigh.
"Look river I'm really sorry, I know I hurt you, but please, please let me talk to you, at least let me see you," Sam said. I took a minute. He did sound genuine. I sighed before I unlocked the door and opened it. Sam stood there, shirtless might I add.
"What do you want Sam," I asked quietly as I looked down.
"River you don't even know how sorry I am. I feel so bad for leaving you there that night, but you have to understand I wouldn't have left if it wasn't important. I promise you you'll know everything soon, but please talk to me," Sam said. I looked up to see he had a tear in his eye. I face fell a bit.
"Okay," I said. Sam instantly had a smile on his face. He came forward and gave me a hug. I froze. He was so warm, it felt comforting. I slowly leaned into the hug and hugged him back.
I put my head onto his chest and took a deep breath in.
"Please don't do that to me again," I whispered into his chest. I felt Sam kiss the top of my head causing my whole body to feel tingly.
"I promise." Sam said.
"It's late, I'll let you get to sleep. I'll see you soon river." Sam said as he placed a long kiss on my forehead and walked back to his car. I slowly walked inside and shut the door. I let out a sound of happiness and ran to my room.
Once I was there I put my head into the pillow and screamed. I was so happy. It felt like my whole body was on fire. I took a deep breath before getting ready for bed.
Once I was ready I laid down. My thoughts were everywhere. I couldn't stop thinking about Sam. About how it felt to have his lips on me, even if it was only my forehead and head. I sighed and fell asleep with a smile on my face.

*A Rational-Adjacent litRPG Survival Series.* The time for the trials has come, pitting the mortal species of the galaxy against one another. By completing challenges, clearing dungeons, and defeating rival species, the players may forge themselves stronger and smarter. But only one species will be declared the winner. Earth has finally qualified... ...and participation is mandatory. A twenty-nine year old data entry clerk works together with a group of internationally diverse players to survive. Learning synergistic skills and using teamwork, can humanity achieve an upset? If they don't, their lives are forfeit. Author's note: Chapters will be anywhere from 6k to 10k in words, varying based on the plot beats instead of specific word counts. Realistic actions and teamwork will be important aspects of my story. I'm trying something a little different in writing a realism focused litRPG, hoping to capture the essence of how real people would react to their situation. People are complex and don't always get along. I don't recommend starting the series expecting wish fulfillment tropes just because it's tagged litRPG. It's a survival story with the game settings on Hell difficulty. The plot hasn't gotten there yet, but in the future of the series I want to recreate my nostalgia of forty person raids on Ragnaros, but with the high stakes of boss battles in Sword Art Online. I also love puzzle rooms so expect one of those each book. Warnings: mild PG-rated language, graphic violence and gore, and graphic medical content.
