《The Next Day-- Tobi x Deidara (TobiDei/ DeiTobi) (A Naruto fan fiction)》Chapter 6

Busy, was the only way Tobi could describe the experience of being in the cafe. It wasn't very loud, a low mumble of people talking and the high voices of the maids floating in the air. But there was a lot of people, and maids kept going in and out of the kitchen that smelled of strawberries and sweets.
The group chatted the whole time they were there. Tobi found out a lot about Sakura's friends. One was shy and quiet, the other loud and very bold. He came to this conclusion when Ino asked a particular question.
"So, Tobi, what's your sexuality?" she asked, setting her elbows on the table and resting her head in her hands. Hinata gasped sharply and turned to Ino.
"I-Ino! Don't just a-ask someone that!" she exclaimed quietly but loud enough for Tobi to hear. He chuckled.
"It doesn't bother me. I mean, mostly because I don't even know," he replied, taking a sip from the drink he ordered. Ino gaped at him.
"Huh? What do you mean, you don't know?" she asked, confused.
"Well, my clan was killed," he replied, causing a glum and sorrowful look to cross hers and Hinata's face. He turned to look at Deidara who was watching them speak with interest. Turning back to Ino he continued. "After my clan was killed it seems I lost my memory. Doctors guessed that it was because whoever killed my clan tried to kill me but didn't succeed. I survived, but my memories didn't. So, all I know right now is that my sexuality is a path I have yet to discover," he said, surprising Ino. She gasped a little.
"Well, you haven't been attracted to anyone at all?" she asked. Tobi shrugged.
"Not really," he said, a hurt look crossing Sakura's face, but he didn't notice. Ino thought for a moment before asking more questions.

"Well, why do you wear that mask?" she asked, a little uncomfortable in the serious atmosphere.
"You see..." he started, making Ino cringe. She didn't like this serious talk at all. All of a sudden Tobi laughed. "Under this mask I am terribly handsome! Girls wouldn't be able to handle it, so I have to wear this mask to make them contain themselves," he said playfully. He rubbed the back of his neck and looked at Sakura who was having a hard time containing her laughter. Deidara scoffed and looked away. He was foolish for even setting his eyes on him.
"Yeah right. You're brother might be a little cute but I bet you're nothing like him," he whispered, only loud enough for Ino to hear.
"Huh?!" she asked, suddenly standing up. Tobi turned to her as she pointed at Deidara.
"Y-You! You're g-gay?!" she yelled, and the whole table froze. There was silence for a few minutes before Misaki broke the silence.
"Pffffft," she laughed, but as soon as it left her mouth she covered her mouth with both hands. Her face began turning red and tears were forming in her eyes as she tried to stop herself from laughing. Deidara stood up and pointed right back at Ino.
"You- You idiot! You stupid, stupid, look-copying god damned idiot!" he exclaimed, his face turning to a bright shade of red. She pouted and crossed her arms over her chest.
"Well I heard you calling a guy cute!" she yelled. He blushed even deeper. He hadn't intended anyone to hear that.
"N-No way! You must be crazy! Or deaf! Or both!" he spat back before grudgingly sitting back down and looking out the window. What he wanted most was to leave, but that wasn't possible since he knew Tobi would start a tantrum. Ino sat back down as well, her eyebrows knitting together. Sakura sighed.

"W-What's wrong, Sakura?" Hinata asked shyly.
"Well the get together I planned to help my friends meet turned out a failure. It's all Deidara's fault!" she exclaimed.
"Excuse me?! It's your friend Ino that is to blame! Actually, Tobi as well!" He replied.
"W-Whaaaat? What did I do?" Tobi asked defensively.
"You forced me to come!"
"Wha- I did not put a gun to your head and say you had to come!" he exclaimed. Deidara scoffed.
"You might as well have. You would've thrown a hissy fit if I didn't come, and your... annoyingness would have driven me insane!" he snapped, getting up from his chair again.
"Annoyingness is not a word but okay!" Tobi retorted, standing up after him. They stared at each other over Itachi's head for a while before he stood up too.
"You guys, people are staring. We're gonna scare away customers. This isn't the place for this," he said calmly. A few seconds of silence passed and Deidara let out a long sigh.
"You're right."
Tobi paused and felt the stares turn onto him. He then laughed nervously and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Aha, I guess we got a little carried away," he agreed, and he turned to Sakura.
"Maybe we should go," Deidara said, almost begging. Sakura sighed but nodded. They all stood up and Rin came over. She gave them the split bill that they had asked for and after they each paid, they walked towards the exit.
Pushing open the door, Itachi let out a long sigh while Rin spoke to him.
"Hopefully you come back soon, Masters, M'ladies!" she said, giving him a closed-eyed smile. He nodded and turned to Misaki who stood next to her best friend.
"It was nice meeting you," he said smiling warmly at her receiving a pout from Rin. Misaki's cheeks turned red only slightly, the blush barely visible, but kept a straight face. She nodded at him and walked out the cafe.
"And, uh, it was... interesting meeting you, Tobi." Tobi pouted under his mask.
"It wasn't nice?" he asked.
Itachi hesitated. "Well..." before he could continue Sakura spoke up.
"Thanks for coming, Tobi." She coughed and cleared her throat. "Deidara," she said, nodding at him.
"No problem! It was really fun! Next time you guys come invite me again!" Tobi said, causing Ino to snicker and Hinata to look away. After they left he was left alone with Deidara.
"So Deidara," he said. His hand reached over to his shoulder after he didn't respond. Right before his hand was about to touch his shoulder, Deidara reacted.
"Get closer and you'll find out what true art is," he said, not even looking at him. Tobi laughed.
"Well what's true art?" he asked, mocking him. Deidara didn't say a word as he began walking away. Before he was too far, he stopped and chuckled.
"Art," he began, and Tobi felt something wet and sticky on his arm. He looked down and spotted a clay spider. Knowing it was a trap, he quickly swatted it away and ran back.
"...Is an explosion," he said, and a small bomb erupted before him, making him grateful he wasn't a complete idiot. Tobi frowned, looking at Deidara's back as he began walking away.
"Ahhh! What are you trying to do, kill me??!" he asked dramatically, loud enough to reach Deidara's distant ears.
A low chuckle escaped his lips.
Tobi is... interesting.

The Stormcrow Cycle
Once a powerful and lauded witch, Ba'an salu-Ba'an now lives alone in a cave in the desert, waiting to die. When she rescues an outlander from certain death she becomes embroiled in a deadly game of politics and empire, of heart and soul, but worst of all--of hope and love and a chance at a peaceful future. Can a disgraced witch find a reason to live her life again--and if so, what price must she pay? The Stormcrow Cycle is a trilogy comprising of The Exile, The Lion, and Abomination. Tags or genres for each book: The Exile: romance, slice-of-life The Lion: romance, slice-of-life, politics Abomination: tragedy, high/epic fantasy (aka "Everything is on fire!") Updates once a week whenever I have time. Cross-posted on Wattpad and Scribble Hub. The CBMokedi cover will return! Excerpt: She looked down at him again. Young. Healthy, from what she could see, except for the wound that was killing him. He was handsome in a way that suggested a life of wealth and plenty. She did not think he had ever starved. Someone important. Her shadow fell across him, and he frowned. Blearily, he opened his eyes. They were amber and bright, even as he lay dying in the dirt. She could feel his soul, blazing inside of him like a fire refusing to die even as his body began to fail. He met her gaze, eyes widening in what she guessed was surprise—or shock. But he never looked away, staring up at her as though transfixed. Ba’an made her decision. She raised her hand and covered his eyes. In another moment, a murder of crows cawed as they took wing. The man and woman were gone from the road, leaving only the dead staring up into the sky. Note: This is a high-fantasy set in a low-magic world. The first book is largely character-driven and we really only hit the real plot in Book II, so if you're not fond of long epic yarns you ought to skip this one. I also don't include trigger warnings, but mind the "traumatizing content" tag--all societies minus one practice slavery and the world is indeed, rather grim!

"What is it?" He slowly began to peel the large bandaid away.My face set in resolve and burn of the newly pulled skin. When the bandaid was off both sets of eyes flew wide to mine. I didn't even try to pull my hand back. It was rock solid where it was. "It's fine!"Adam seriously growled. "You keep saying that. You are still lying!"I rolled my eyes. "No, look. It's okay. I know it looks bad, but it's always what my bee stings look like. Alright?" I glanced down to the irritated bump in the center with the series of violet lines coming from the inner point. The lines shot out in straight angles like a circuit board. "It's just an allergic reaction."Nate's eyes folded me with power. "This is not just an allergic reaction, Elise.
