CHAPTER 5
TWO MONTHS LATER
man stood over Yuri, giving her a small smile as he examined her facial expression.
She looked up and smiled at the stranger: as usual. "Hello!"
"I'm Jiraiya. Naruto's my student." He sat himself down in front of her lazily, not minding the flowers that were scattered all around.
"Nice to meet you, Jiraiya-sama." Yuri held out her small hand for the older male to shake, keeping her smile plastered on her face. "Why isn't Naruto here as well?"
Jiraiya tapped his fingers on the ground while using his other hand to return the greeting. "He was...injured. You didn't hear about the whole thing with that Uchiha brat, did you?"
"That he fled." She rolled her eyes. "To find a greater power. That's all I heard."
"Well, he went to get him back, but was injured in the process." Jiraiya explained curtly. "Did it for that pink-haired girl."
"He did it for Sakura?"
"Yeah."
"Oh."
He sighed and leaned back slightly, basking in the heat.
"You're exactly as Naruto described you, you know." Jiraiya chuckled, picking up a sunflower from her basket.
Yuri's eyes widened in suprise. "Oh, yeah? I didn't think he talked about me."
"The mission we were on recently? He wouldn't stop. It was actually quite annoying." He nodded. "'Yuri this, Yuri that. I miss Yuri.'"
"That's embarrassing." She let out an awkward laugh.
"But didn't you miss him too, Yuri-shi?"
The bleach-blonde looked up from what she was doing. "Of course. Why?"
"I have a theory." He said simply, dropping the yellow flower back into his basket.
"Can I hear it?" Yuri asked eagerly, clutching onto her basket.
"First, why don't you tell me that nickname you have for him again? Something about..."

She bit her lip. She wasn't surprised he knew about her name for the jinchuuriki. It was like her to do something like that.
"I call him the Sun God." She answered quietly.
"Right! That's the one." He nodded. "Here's my theory."
She adjusted her position on the grass, moving her legs to her side.
He hummed. "You see, flowers and the sun connect in a certain way. Do you know why?"
She shook her head slowly.
"Flowers need the sun to grow and prosper." He gestured to a flower that sat in the middle of them. It was in the middle of blooming, and had its colorful flaps covered.
"I see." She mumbled. "But what do flowers have to do with this?"
He grinned. "Yuri. He has a nickname for you too."
"You're the Flower Goddess."

Bright Battle Story: Tactics Heart
This is Bright Battle Academy. It is not a place where your hand will be held or your failings compensated for. It is not a place for the weak, or the subversive, or the conspicuously diverse. This is Bright Battle Academy, where champions are forged and legends begin. Dwarfs? Once they were part of the great alliance. They helped build this very academy. But they were so stubborn, so unyielding, so unwilling to bend themselves to the rules. And so they weakened, and so they declined, and so their empires faded. What few that are left shun the academy. We have no dwarfs here. Rogues? Perhaps a handful in the sprawl, hiding in the shadows, hoarding their merits, hoping to buy a promotion to something remotely useful, ninja or assassin perhaps. But in the academy proper? No. We have no rogues here. And yet despite everything here she stands. Nala Greyward, Dwarf Rogue. Pettiest of thieves. Unpleasantest of surprises. Causer of problems. So she killed an ogre. So nobody knows how she did it. So what. Throw her in with the real prospects, with the elves and the vampires and the fighters and the magic users. See how she does in that environment--see just how long it is, before the problem that is Nala Greyward solves itself. This is Bright Battle Academy. Good luck. Discord if you're into that.

Fateless: The Silver Lining
It has been ten years of peace for the Union since the end of the great war with the eastern barbarian tribes, yet in the cold north of the Union's land, a new threat is looming. This time, an ambitious Lord is seeking to restore the yore pride of his kin, forcing the weakened Union into yet another unwanted war, as he ramps up the ranks of his army with thieves, murderers and mercenaries.* * *The temperature inside the forge was nearly twice as high as the one outside. A black-haired girl hammered a steel ingot into the shape of a blade. The heat of the steam was draining her stamina away, but her focus remained sharp as her sweat streamed down her face. Hit after hit, for hours, the sound of the hammering steel followed the rhythm of her breathing. Exhausted, she placed the blade into the water and wiped the sweat off her face using a drenched rag. Why are they screaming? Vatra dipped the rag back in the water, twisted it, and approached the window. Her mouth opened as her world shattered again into the living nightmare she had wilfully tried to forget. She bit her lips; it wasn’t a dream. The pulse of her heart rose. A cold sweat prickled her back. A mother was running, and a child was screaming. A torrent of smoke was emerging from the roof of her neighbour. Vatra’s eyes blinked. The mother lay on the ground, a spear through her back. A torch circled in the air and landed on the roof of her workshop. In the distance, a man wearing a banner well known to the world… Fateless is a philosophical medieval dark low fantasy centered on war, militaristic campaigns and geopolitical conflicts between multiple empires. This story follows the fate of Vatra, a former slave from the eastern Nar Empire who was raised in a culture far away from her own, forced into warfare against her will, and the fate of Lanaya, an ambitious half-angel exiled from her home whose existence is seen as heresy. As they wished for peace, both chose a path opposed to one another until their fate crossed. In this story where war dictates the law, love strikes them as a poisoned balm to which they grasp for with all their might, as it is in the darkest of times that the smallest flames may burn the brightest. * * * Tome 1 already completed and available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/Fateless-Silver-Hugo-Emmanuel-Simard-Wallot/dp/B09LGSH1KK Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Hugo-Emmanuel-Simard-Wallot-100547579135891/ I will publish 1 chapter per week (sometimes 2 if the chapters are too short for my liking).
